Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill
Chapter 276: Little Bone Dragon’s Transformation
The flock of Skeleton Birds now resembled an apple with a huge chunk bitten out of it.
A huge chunk was missing.
The head of the Fire Dragon slowly faded away.
The Skeleton Birds and human figures swallowed by the Fire Dragon had vanished.
They had been reduced to ash in the flames.
A few items that had not been destroyed by the Magic fell to the ground.
A large, blue hand caught the falling items and brought them before Li Wei.
Two Spatial Rings and two Magic Badges.
The Magic Badges showed signs of melting.
Even Magic Badges, which possessed extremely high Magic Resistance, were damaged by the Fire Dragon Skill’s attack—a power far exceeding a normal Tier Four Spell.
’They were both Tier Four Mages. Crook... Lawson... Were those their names?’
A deep blue flame ignited in Li Wei’s palm, completely melting the two Magic Badges.
DRIP!
The molten metal dripped to the ground.
Destroying all traces.
Li Wei examined the two Spatial Rings.
After taking a moment to erase their Spiritual Brands, Li Wei gained ownership of the Spatial Rings.
VWOOM!
Li Wei saw several pillars of light appear in the distance.
He headed deeper into the Skeleton Sea.
The Skeleton Monsters all parted to make a path for him.
The pillars of light meant that people from the Elemental Tower had arrived.
Li Wei planned to take stock of his spoils before heading back.
He had to avoid the arrivals from the Elemental Tower first.
Li Wei’s figure disappeared amidst the endless tide of Skeleton Monsters.
The Mages from the Elemental Tower who had come as reinforcements searched the area but found no trace of survivors.
They discovered the meteor crater.
"A huge battle broke out here. Both sides were Mages."
"Why would Mages be fighting here?"
"Infighting, or maybe a vendetta. Otherwise, who would be willing to risk so much, venturing deep into the Skeleton Sea to hunt an enemy?"
"The Elemental Tower has recorded the deaths of two Tier Four Mages."
"No bodies were found."
"The meteor has been moved. There’s a human-shaped crater underneath. Unbelievable! Someone actually survived taking a Meteor Skill head-on!"
"We didn’t find any survivors. Let’s head back for now."
"It’s a shame. Li Wei just joined the Hall of Truth’s Sunshine Research, and then this happens."
"He was too impulsive. Even if he was rushing to save someone, he shouldn’t have put himself in such danger."
"I hope he’s okay."
"Let’s go."
The reinforcements came quickly, and they left just as fast.
There weren’t many valuable clues at the scene.
Besides, there were too many Undead around; they couldn’t stay for long.
Li Wei looked up and saw several pillars of light rise into the distant sky.
The number of light pillars was the same as before.
He knew the reinforcements had returned to the Elemental Tower.
Li Wei opened one of the Spatial Rings and found a treasure inside.
A Soul Spark!
When he took out the Soul Spark, all the surrounding Undead under his command looked over, their postures betraying a deep yearning.
A Soul Spark could greatly accelerate the evolution of Undead Creatures.
The most important thing for an Undead Creature is its Soul Flame.
The strength of the Soul Flame directly determined the strength of the Undead Creature.
A Soul Spark was a treasure that could directly enhance the strength of a Soul Flame.
’I wonder where Crook got this?’
Li Wei put the Soul Spark into his own Spatial Ring.
Besides the Soul Spark, he also found a considerable amount of Magic Materials and money in their two Spatial Rings.
The money was secondary.
Li Wei now had several thousand Gold Coins; he wasn’t short on money.
A treasure like the Soul Spark, something money couldn’t buy, was the real prize.
Coincidentally, he had just subjugated the Little Bone Dragon. He could give the Soul Spark to it, drastically increasing its power.
The Little Bone Dragon’s Soul Flame had only just been born, so it was still weak.
With this Soul Spark, the Little Bone Dragon should quickly grow to a considerable level of strength.
After all, it was a Bone Dragon. Even a juvenile Bone Dragon was still one of the more powerful types of Undead Creatures.
Especially after it awakened the Extraordinary Traits unique to the Dragon Race.
After taking inventory of his spoils, Li Wei put the two Spatial Rings away.
These two Spatial Rings were much larger than the ones Li Wei had acquired in his early days.
They were worth a small fortune.
Li Wei took out his Teleportation Token.
He glanced at his left hand. The call from the Golden Bone Ring was ever-present.
Li Wei had no intention of answering the call.
He disappeared into a pillar of teleportation light under the watchful gaze of the countless Undead Creatures.
Li Wei returned to the Elemental Tower.
The moment he landed, someone rushed over.
"Li Wei, it’s so good to see you’re okay!"
"Why were you so impulsive? Thank goodness you’re all right, or I wouldn’t have known how to explain this to the Vice Hall Master."
Hobbes said, his face etched with anxiety.
He was the one who had brought Li Wei into the Hall of Truth and recommended him to the Sunshine Research Team.
If anything had happened to Li Wei, he wouldn’t have known how to face the Vice Hall Master.
The Vice Hall Master thought very highly of Li Wei.
Although he had yet to meet Li Wei in person, he often asked about him.
Li Wei smiled. "I’m fine, don’t worry."
"Don’t be so impulsive next time. If something comes up, tell me first. I’ll figure out a way to help you."
"And even if I can’t help, the Hall of Truth will find a way to resolve it for you."
Li Wei nodded. "Thank you."
Hobbes breathed a sigh of relief, then asked curiously, "Where did you run off to? I heard the reinforcement Mages went to rescue you but couldn’t find you. I thought something had happened to you. You scared me to death."
Li Wei gave a sheepish laugh. "I was in a panic while escaping and wasn’t watching where I was going. I have no idea where I ended up."
"Once I saw there were no more Undead Creatures around, I used the Teleportation Token to return."
Li Wei glanced around and asked, "Where is Teacher Sean?"
Hobbes replied, "Sean was summoned by the Disciplinary Committee for questioning."
"Not long after Sean returned, news spread that two Tier Four Mages had died. The location of their deaths was the exact place where Sean had encountered danger."
"So, the Disciplinary Committee wants to see if he knows any clues."
Li Wei said, "Oh, I see."
"If there’s nothing else, I’m going to head back and rest."
"Okay, get some rest," Hobbes said.
Just before he left, Hobbes added a reminder, "You were there too. The Disciplinary Committee will probably want to question you, so be prepared."
"Don’t worry too much. Just be honest about what you encountered."
Li Wei nodded. "Yeah, okay."
Returning to his manor, Li Wei felt a sliver of worry.
The Disciplinary Committee’s Mages could use the Truth-telling Skill, a type of Spiritual Magic.
It could determine whether a person was lying.
If a Mage from the Disciplinary Committee used the Truth-telling Skill on him...
...the fact that he had killed Crook and Lawson might be exposed.
Even though they had attacked first, he would still be punished if the Elemental Tower found out.
Back at the manor, Li Wei went to the rear courtyard and fed the Soul Spark to the Little Bone Dragon.
The Little Bone Dragon consumed the Soul Spark, and the Soul Fire within its body flared violently.
In the blink of an eye, it had grown several times stronger.
The Little Bone Dragon’s bones grew thicker and more solid.
Its hazy consciousness became whole.
The Little Bone Dragon’s voice echoed in Li Wei’s mind.
"Master."
Li Wei broke into a smile.
This meant the Little Bone Dragon’s strength had taken another leap forward.
