Guide To Train My Beast Husbands
Chapter 340: Heated Beds
Ruan Chanchan took a look at the volcanic ash that the people of the Killer Whale Tribe had arranged for her, and she immediately started her work. The damp and salty air of the killer whale tribe was a constant enemy to the health of the young and the elderly. While the tribe was indeed fierce and prosperous, its stone dwellings were quite slick with condensation, and when the nights arrived, they brought a bone-deep chill that even their thick skin couldn’t entirely repel.
She pointed to the centre of the square and then said to one of the totem warriors, "Can you dig a pit there? Don’t make it too deep, just around one or two metres." The warriors were confused when they heard her request, but they still walked forward and dug a pit that Ruan Chanchan wanted them to dig. It did not take long, as it was not too deep, and they were done in a matter of seconds.
Once they were done, Ruan Chanchan took out a shovel from her supermarket space. As soon as the thing appeared in her hands, everyone in the crowd was left in awe. They had never seen such a thing before, and the fact that it appeared out of thin air left everyone in shock. Just what the hell was that thing? And how did Ruan Chanchan summon it out of nowhere?
Ruan Chanchan knew that the appearance of the hoe had taken the totem warriors by surprise, but she did not provide any explanation for it. Instead, she turned the volcanic ash in the pit and mixed sand into it.
When the totem warriors saw what she was doing, they could not help but frown. One of them looked at the grey mixture and then questioned, "My lady, what are you doing mixing the sand with the volcanic ash? What are you going to do with this mixture?"
"I am making cement," replied Ruan Chanchan as she wiped the smudge on her face. She pointed to the sludge that she had mixed and explained, "If the water, volcanic ash and sand ratio is correct, then it will form cement."
"What’s the use of cement?"
Ruan Chanchan curled her lips and stated, "You will know very soon."
She had arranged for the bricks as they were easy to make. All she needed to do was to bake the bricks in high heat for a couple of days, and it would be a done deal. She had been very careful while making bricks because she knew that in a few days, the matter of the heated bed would be spread throughout the beast world. When that happens, she will, in turn, get a lot of orders. So keeping the bricks a secret was important.
With the help of the totem warriors, she arranged the hard bricks into a neat structure before arranging the flue system such that the heat and smoke would be able to freely escape through the heated bed.
While Ruan Chanchan was working hard on the heated bed, the children around her were eyeing it with a hint of curiosity and hope. They had been sleeping in cold and harsh winters without even the slightest bit of warmth. The idea of a heated bed was enough to fill their hearts with hope and dreams. For them, the thought of a bed that could get them through the night without waking up because of the chills was nothing less than a fairytale.
Ruan Chanchan had no idea about what the children were thinking. Once she was done dealing with the kang, she left it to dry. Because there were too many beds that needed to be made, she allowed a few of the scouts to learn how to make the kang, but of course, she kept the matter of how to make bricks and coal to herself. As she was going to use these two things to make alliances with other tribes.
Ruan Chanchan knew that Leader Xie was too honest, and she might not be able to make too many alliances with her honesty. In the end, everyone paid great attention to the benefits; as long as there was something that the tribes could use to their advantage, they would definitely pay a visit to the Big Bear Tribe.
As a member of the Big Bear Tribe, Ruan Chanchan naturally hoped that they would get stronger and more powerful in the future; as long as the tribe was getting better in the future, she would also be able to live a good life.
"Miss Ruan! Miss Ruan! What are we having for dinner tonight?" Zhou Fan, who had caught new prey, was quite excited when she returned after hunting. She rushed to where Ruan Chanchan was resting and pointed at the prey that she had caught. Ruan Chanchan raised her head and followed Zhou Fan’s gaze; when she saw the thing that she had caught, she was both surprised and a bit scared.
Because what Zhou Fan had caught were crayfish the size of rodents. They were too big, covered in dirt and looked really disgusting; if not for the system telling her that it was crayfish, she would have never been able to detect it. Fortunately, she knew how to make crayfish and was not bothered by the sight of the crayfish.
"It seems like you caught something good." Ruan Chanchan missed the taste of mala crayfish a little, and now that she had found something that was close enough to the real crayfish, she could not help but swallow hard. She stood up; the fatigue she felt was no longer pressing down on her shoulders, and she walked up to the crayfish. She first examined whether or not they had any poisonous fangs or something of the sort, but the crayfish was relatively clean.
They only needed to wash the mud off the shellfish, and everything would be dealt with.
"Go and ask your friends to wash these crayfish in the water and then bring them to me," said Ruan Chanchan as she turned to prepare for the base.
