Chapter 98: Kill Clause and NukEncore’s Sets (3)

[Crimson Vein Ember Set]

[Set Type: Cloth Armor Set]

[Pieces: 5]

[Appearance: A dark caster set of black cloth, leather accents, and glowing red mana crystal. Its design is sleek, practical, and volatile, as though shaped from the remains of a crystal-infused subterranean hunter.]

[2 Pieces — Ember Relay]

[Mana spent on fire spells restores a portion of stamina.]

[Stamina spent on sprinting or dodging restores a portion of mana.]

[4 Pieces — Scatterflame]

[AoE fire spells leave behind Crystal Embers at the point of impact.]

[Crystal Embers erupt when struck by a later fire spell, dealing splash damage in a small area.]

[5 Pieces — Twin Furnace]

[When mana or stamina falls below 30%, part of the higher resource is converted into the lower one for a short duration.]

[While Twin Furnace is active, AoE fire spells gain increased radius and stronger lingering burn effects.]

Mana poured from her, but some of that cost returned to her body as renewed movement and steadiness instead of vanishing outright. As her mana dipped, the set pulled from the stronger reserve and fed the strain back into her casting, making the flames in her staff swell hotter instead of guttering out. She stepped into the cast with a grin that had turned sharp and dangerous.

A dense red fireball slammed into the exposed section and detonated. The fractured area gave way more violently under the hit, and the damage spread deeper through the weakened section before triggering several ember crystals around the boss in quick succession. Secondary eruptions hammered him from the flank and forced him stumbling backward into the foot of his throne.

He roared so loudly that the chamber shook, and when his expression changed, all arrogance and amusement vanished from it, leaving only a murderous fury behind.

The remaining crystal armor across his body flared bright.

"Down!" Kill Clause shouted.

Both women moved at once.

The Dark Blue Goblin exploded his own armor outward.

Dark-blue shards blasted across the throne room in every direction. Some buried themselves in pillars. Others skidded across the floor. The rest hung in the air for one dreadful breath before the crystals scattered around the chamber answered the call.

The throne room itself began to glow as every shard lodged in stone, every broken fragment on the floor, and every crystal jutting from the throne and walls rose into the air around him, and then the hail began.

Needle-sharp crystal rained across the room in dense, screaming volleys.

NukEncore ducked behind a broken step, then immediately sprang out again as the next volley shattered it. Her fast repositioning fed her more mana in tiny bursts, and she used every one of them. Fire bloomed from her staff again and again, bursting in midair to destroy some of the incoming shards and detonate ember crystals where the hail struck the ground.

The throne room became a storm of blue crystal and red fire.

Kill Clause moved through it with clenched focus. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

Her bow remained half-drawn even as she dodged, slid, and cut across the edges of the barrage. The set would not let her keep every stage of resonance forever, but it let her preserve enough of it to fight inside the storm instead of resetting from nothing every time she had to evade.

A shard tore across her sleeve, another shaved sparks from the floor beside her boots, and she kept moving while she kept drawing.

NukEncore saw the path before she did.

"Left, Elder Sister!"

A wave of fire crashed into one side of the crystal hail, widening on release and erupting through several ember clusters already lodged in the ground. The chain of explosions tore open a brief lane through the storm.

Kill Clause entered it at once.

The Dark Blue Goblin stood at the center of the chamber with his crystal sword raised high, using it like a cruel conductor’s rod to control the rain with savage delight. Without his outer armor, his chest was visible again, but only in flashes between the falling shards.

Kill Clause held the bowstring until her fingers burned.

The set began shifting a little of her higher reserve into the lower one, just enough to steady the edge she was running on. Her breathing remained level. Her aim remained hard.

NukEncore’s next spell slammed into the ground near the throne and burst upward, not to kill the boss, but to pull his focus off the hail for an instant. That instant was enough.

Kill Clause stepped out from the last of the crystal rain and released a fully resonant shot.

The arrow became a dark green streak and crossed the throne room in a single line.

It pierced straight through the boss’s chest.

For a heartbeat, the crystal storm continued.

Then the Dark Blue Goblin’s eyes widened, his sword arm faltered, and the rain lost its shape at once, as though the raised crystal sword had been the focus holding it together.

NukEncore thrust her staff forward one last time.

A blazing fireball struck the boss where Kill Clause’s arrow had gone in. The impact triggered the nearby embers, then the ones behind him, then the ones scattered across the throne steps in a final chain of violent red eruptions.

The Dark Blue Goblin’s body jerked once.

Then he collapsed, his crystal sword slipping from his hand as he crashed at the foot of the throne.

The remaining shards clattered uselessly to the floor.

Silence followed before NukEncore threw both hands into the air. "We did it! And he still threw his whole tantrum at us!"

Kill Clause lowered her bow and exhaled through her nose. "Obviously."

A faint, satisfied gleam still showed in her eyes despite the dryness of her voice, and around them the last burning goblins fell apart while the throne room finally went still.

Their victory had not come from tricks, setup, or environmental gimmicks, but from their own strength, timing, and teamwork. With their full orange sets now proven against the Dark Blue Goblin Boss at his strongest, the two women were more than ready for the incoming land expansion battles.
