The Chan Household was the most powerful apothecary house in the region right now due to the strength-enhancing potions they brewed for the kingdom.

Their potions were five percent impurity-free, and this was considerably high unlike other potions produced in the kingdom, but with the recipe to produce stamina-enhancing potions, along with their strength-enhancing potions, the previous host had thought this would be more than enough to convince the Chan Household into accepting his insane proposition.

But in the end, he was wrong, because it only led to them killing him and seizing the things he had come with.

In fact, all three members from the household were still in front of him, laughing heartily at the recollection of the most insane request they had ever heard.

To think a lazy and useless noble’s son like Austin Rin could have the balls to request the hand in marriage of the Chan Household’s daughter, Jessie Chan, all three couldn’t help but cackle out in laughter.

Among them was a lean young man called Eric.

He was Jessie’s brother, and right now he was laughing so hard he had to hold the wall to steady himself.

Next was Shawn, who happened to be Jessie’s cousin.

He had been the one to beat up the previous host until his bones cracked.

Meanwhile, the third man was a lot older than the previous two.

His name was Boateng Chan, and he happened to be Jessie’s father.

Right now, Boateng was holding the scroll that contained Austin’s family secret recipe, but he gently placed it on his desk, along with the little gold coins they had seized from the previous host.

Previously, both Eric and Boateng had stood behind to watch Shawn beat the crap out of the previous host, forcing him to hand over the recipe.

The beating continued without any of them even knowing that the previous host had died from their brutality.

And this was how Austin had found himself in his new body.

He slowly stared up at the ceiling and wondered why the previous host had even considered making such a dumb proposition in the first place.

"To be honest, I’m not surprised they reacted the way they did." Austin uttered in his thoughts.

"After all, he came here to this mansion knowing that he had no mana core within him and no fighting experience as well."

"Yet, he should have expected the Chan Household would know about this and would use it against him."

"But he didn’t, and it cost him his life." Austin concluded as he grunted when he tried to move his body, only for the pain to flare up within him again, allowing him to groan once more.

But to his surprise, a screen appeared in front of his eyes.

Austin stared at the screen and uttered in his mind. "What?"

But before he could comprehend the words displayed before him, a new string of words appeared on the screen.

The moment he read the words on the screen, Austin instantly felt something round pressing lightly against the inside of his cheek.

It was the healing pill, but he could feel how hard and round the pill was, so he swallowed it and the pill instantly melted on his tongue before sliding down his throat.

Strangely enough, Austin could feel how it slid down his throat, filling it with a warm sensation that spread throughout the rest of his body.

Meanwhile, a few steps away from where he was, the laughter of the three men had died down.

Now, Shawn was looking at the floor with a shocked look on his face.

"Wait a minute. Did I actually kill him?" He asked, because he had initially thought maybe the previous Austin had gone unconscious, but the more he stared at him, the more he realised Austin really wasn’t moving anymore, hence why he had asked shockingly if Austin was alive or not.

The other two glanced at each other before Eric let out a short laugh.

"He is dead? Who cares! If he’s dead then we just need to get rid of the body. After all, no one is going to miss him anyway." Eric said while cleaning the tears at the edge of his eyes.

"That’s right, and thanks to him we’ve got ourselves a free recipe and free gold coins. It’s not a bad evening if you ask me." Boateng added as he chuckled while leaning his back against his chair.

The three of them laughed altogether, then Shawn smirked as he walked over to Austin’s body.

He nudged Austin’s body with his foot to roll him over so his face was now pointed up at the ceiling.

But the moment Austin’s eyes opened in front of him, Shawn blinked in surprise and grinned even more.

"Oh, so you’re still alive, huh. Guess I’ll need to fix that." He lifted his foot and brought it down hard toward Austin’s face.

But Austin rolled to the side, then he got his hands under himself, helping him to push upwards as he slowly got to his feet again.

Seeing this, Boateng laughed and even slapped his knee. "Oh look, he can still stand! Hahaha!!"

Eric joined in the laughter and Shawn couldn’t help but smirk as well.

But while all three were preoccupied with their laughter, Austin suddenly felt the mana core awakening pill in his mouth.

He bit down on the core and a sharp crack came from inside his mouth as he broke the mana core awakening pill between his teeth.

The effect of the pill worked instantaneously and Austin immediately felt a cold wave rolling off his body, which pushed outward through the room like a snowstorm.

But everyone kept laughing except Shawn, because he had certainly felt the chill that radiated from Austin’s body.
