Chapter 743: Chapter 743. Moving pieces

Kailen stepped off the stage, returning to his seat near Julian. The stadium shook with roars.

Kailen Darkhaven had exceeded everyone’s expectations.

The Dawnseer Guild members roared at the top of their lungs, their roars shaking the place. Their guild would be headed to the intercity competitions of the Southern Continent, where the representatives from various guilds across the cities in the Southern Continent—who had become champions at their interdistrict competitions in their city—would be gathering.

The other citizens of Richtchard City were equally cheering. With someone like Kailen Darkhaven and Julian Seir representing the Dawnseer Guild, their city was bound to make some waves in the intercity competitions of the Southern Continent.

Several, however, sighed.

Kailen Darkhaven had offended the Insidious Assassin Syndicate. The intercity competition was just a month from now. This was enough time for the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in the city to eliminate him. If he somehow miraculously evaded any assassination attempts on his life, he would be able to participate in the intercity competitions.

But for now, no one knew how his fate would turn out. In fact, even if he were to be able to do something about the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in the city, more assassins from other branches would be sent after him.

It seems this fellow would have a very daunting future.

However, everyone knew that if he managed to overcome every obstacle ahead of him, he would shake the Southern Continent.

At this moment, Kailen himself was seated by Julian. A glint flashed through his eyes. He had already devised a method to handle the branch of the Insidious Assassin Syndicate in the district.

He had to try it out to see if it will work.

Kailen nodded to Julian and stood up, about to leave the stadium. Julian also stood up.

"You really are full of surprises, Mr. Darkhaven," Julian said.

Kailen replied, "You are being too modest. Your battle was really an eye-opener."

Kailen was not being too modest with his words. He just said what was on his mind. Julian was very strong.

"Let me get straight to the point," Julian said as the two flew out of the stadium alongside many who were departing. "I want to be your friend."

Kailen didn’t dwell on his words, but the underlying meaning. He also gleaned Julian’s thoughts by observing his facial expressions using emotional resonance. He could not let his guard down after all.

"I see. You remind me of someone," Kailen said.

A picture of Charles came into mind. He was very alike with this guy. Someone who desired thrill, adventure, and commotion.

Julian nodded. "I see. Then he must be remarkable."

A slight smile—something Kailen rarely showed—blossomed on Kailen’s face as he thought of Charles. "He really is."

Julian nodded with a smile. No further words were spoken between the two.

Kailen knew Julian was wise enough to understand that trying to befriend him meant making an enemy out of the Insidious Assassin Syndicate. He did not need to spell that out for Julian.

Also, although he was not in the chaotic region of the universe to make friends, having a genuine ally was not necessarily a bad thing. Plus, it was not like Julian would be dead weight who would negatively affect Kailen’s goals.

Kailen stared in the direction of Dawnseer and Dexter. He nodded to them. They nodded back to him. After that, Kailen turned to Julian.

"I need to take care of some things."

Julian replied genuinely, "Do you need any help?"

"Not at the moment. In case of anything, I will let you know," Kailen replied.

Julian nodded.

Kailen added, "Also, I know you made a lot of gold coins because of me."

This fellow and Charles were really alike. Kailen shook his head.

"What can I say?" Julian shrugged. "Don’t forget to hit me up if you need my help."

"Certainly," Kailen replied as Julian bolted off.

Kailen melded with the void and disappeared.

Richtchard City.

Castelan District.

Skynet Intelligence Network/Organisation.

A man was currently seated in a large office boasting with flamboyance. He was scrolling through several feeds on a holographic screen before him. All of them were about Kailen Darkhaven.

Articles about the events of the stadium were all over the city. Kailen and Julian—especially Kailen—was the talk of town.

"He really is someone who stirs up commotion everywhere he goes," he sighed.

Suddenly, the void rippled as a figure popped out of the void. The moment the man saw someone appear in the room, he was ready to launch an attack against the person. However, on seeing the person, he relaxed.

Long coats, jeans, sneakers, t-shirts, pale fair skin, lean tall athletic build, abyss-like hair and eyes.

This was the man who provided him with information that helped his organization to regain its glory as the most renowned intelligence network in the city.

"What an unexpected visit, Mr. Darkhaven."

The founder of the Skynet Intelligence Organisation, Skynet Osiris, said. "Please, have your seat." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

The man was genuinely polite.

Kailen nodded calmly. "Thank you." He sat.

"May I know the reason for this abrupt visit?" Skynet asked. Darkhaven had never visited him before. The fact that Kailen personally paid him a visit meant it was very important.

Kailen went straight to the point. "I need some information, sir."

Skynet nodded. "Naturally. You don’t need to pay us for this service. Consider it a way of paying you back for several years ago."

Kailen didn’t see the need to reject the man’s goodwill. He nodded warmly. "Many thanks. I want some information on the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in Richtchard City. Are there any people they have assassinated, related to any powerful person in the city?"

A glint of trepidation flashed through the eyes of Skynet as he realized what Kailen Darkhaven was up to. But could he pull it off? Well, that was not his place to question. The results would reveal itself.

Quickly, he went through the secret log of the Organisation’s most treasured intelligence. This was information that people would have to pay several hundred thousands of gold coins to obtain. Quickly, he sent the information to Kailen Darkhaven.

"I have sent you a list of all the people they have assassinated, sir," Skynet said. "You can personally go through the list and sieve what you are looking for. Best wishes."

"Thank you," Kailen replied.

He melded with the void and disappeared.

Skynet sighed, gaze distant. "This person is too terrifying."

As someone who knew the power of information, he had an inkling of what Kailen Darkhaven may need the information for. However, he was wondering if Kailen could pull it off.

But what shocked him more was the fact that Kailen Darkhaven was not flustered or scared by the fact that the Insidious Assassin Syndicate was now his enemy. He was actually moving in the shadows to orchestrate a ploy to end them.

What a terrifying person.
