Kailen reappeared in the living room of his villa in the Castellan District. He started to go through the list Osiris Skynet had sent to him.

Kailen’s plan was simple. He wanted to find someone very powerful, related to someone the syndicate had eliminated through assassination.

There was a reason why an assassination was labeled an assassination. The killer won’t be known. However, what would happen if an extremely powerful person—probably wallowing in misery over the death of someone they cared about, but had no idea about who killed them—suddenly finds out about the killer?

Kailen’s target was someone like that.

He would find them and leak the information that the Insidious Assassin Syndicate was the one behind the death of the person they cared about. Definitely, the person would abandon all reason because of despair and would most likely take revenge on the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in the city.

Definitely, the syndicate was not stupid. They would definitely know he is behind this scheme if it worked.

But, so what?

He would be leaving Richtchard City soon. He wanted to deal a heavy blow to their branch here before he left. There was no need to have reservations. Their other branches in the continent would come after him whether or not he took action against the branch here. He had killed a member of their organization who was also the niece of a branch head here, after all.

Plus, the branch here would try to kill him. He had to act first and get rid of them. No matter what angle he analyzed the situation from, conflict with them was inevitable. Since that was the case, why have reservations?

Kailen kept going through the list. He was not finding anyone that matched the psychological profile he had in mind. However, he was patient.

Finally, he came across a name.

A glint flashed through Kailen’s eyes.

"Perfect person."

He had found the perfect person.

Insidious Assassin Syndicate.

A man clad in robes was seen standing in a room. Several holograms lined the room at the moment. The holograms displayed the events of the NGU competition that just ended.

"So he took the bait. Make preparations and eliminate him by tomorrow morning. The person who killed my beloved niece cannot be left alive."

The man hissed. An expression of softness and pain flickered through his eyes.

His niece would have succeeded him here if he were promoted in the organization. She was a genius with great potential. But this Kailen Darkhaven had killed her. Naturally, if he didn’t take action to eliminate him, how could she rest in peace?

Also, how was he supposed to explain himself to her parents in the edge region of the universe when he visited them? How could he break the bad news that she was dead when he had not even avenged her?

"Yes, sir."

Several fellows in several robes, kneeling before the man, replied to him. Their figures disappeared from the room. They needed to make preparations to kill Kailen Darkhaven.

The man with clenched fists was the only one remaining in the room. Little did he know that his end was near.

Castelan District.

Somewhere in the Eastern Mountain range.

A man could be seen seated deep in the mountain range. There were a lot of trees here. This made this place a dense forest region. The man was seated at the edge of a lake at the moment. Currently, it was night, and it was raining. However, he stared into the horizons with an empty expression in his eyes.

He had been seated here for a very long time.

Suddenly, the void rippled and a figure stepped out of it. The figure sat near the man. However, the man did not show any reaction, nor did he act against the figure who had just popped out of the void. He still had the same empty expression on his face.

Kailen remained quiet for a while, not disturbing him. He used Emotional Resonance to analyze the man’s emotional state. It was just as the information he had obtained had stated.

He wanted to get revenge on whoever killed his lover and kill himself in the end. He did not see the need to keep living on without her, even after he managed to take revenge for her. This man’s love for his lover was extremely deep. The pain he felt for losing her was not something that could be described with words.

However, he did not know who killed her, so he could not even have revenge. So, he could not bring himself to even kill himself and leave this world. This made his life all the more painful.

"Will you believe me if I told you I knew who killed her?"

The moment the man heard Kailen’s voice, his eyes snapped with coldness. Several streams of water materialized into water blades and appeared a few inches away from Kailen’s neck.

"This man is terrifying," Kailen thought. If the man proceeded with the attack, he could die right here. However, Kailen remained calm.

"If you are here to sully her name and mock me, I will kill you in the most excruciating manner," the man, Kier Shen, said coldly.

"You think I didn’t weigh the risks before I came here?" Kailen shrugged.

A glint flickered through Kier’s eyes on hearing Kailen’s words.

"How do you know I’m alive?" Kier said. He had completely disappeared from Richtchard City for as long as he could tell. In his opinion, no one could remember him. How was it possible that this fellow had information on him and knew exactly where to find him?

"I have my sources. Anyway, what you are asking is not important. Let me be straight. I’m not here to offer help, or be charitable," Kailen replied. "The ones who killed your lover are the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in the city. They are after my life, and I am not strong enough to handle them."

"So you came to reveal to me that they are the ones behind the death of my lover, so that we will have a common goal—which is to get rid of them?" Kier said. "Or to be more precise, you want to use me to kill them, huh. You are a really scheming person. How can I know this information you are offering on the source of her death is legit and you are not trying to manipulate me?"

He wanted to get revenge for his lover and kill himself, but that didn’t mean he would just kill any random target because someone just popped out of nowhere and told him anyone killed her.

Kailen had already anticipated this reaction.

A holographic screen appeared before him. He showed the list Skynet had sent him to Kier.

"Check the seal at the top of the document," Kailen said.

Kier narrowed his eyes when he checked the seal. It was legit. This was the seal of the most powerful intelligence organisation when he was active in the city. It was the seal of the Skynet Intelligence Syndicate.

Then, he didn’t need any more proof. He didn’t need to ask any more questions, either.

"Let’s set off. Today, I will raze the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch here to the ground. After that, I can finally end my life and happily face the woman I love—if there’s an afterlife."

Kier said.

Kailen simply nodded.

The two shot out of the eastern mountain range, headed towards the Insidious Assassin Syndicate branch in the city.
