Chapter 12: Spirit Rice

Sitting in the same cross-legged position, Lucien tried channeling small amounts of spiritual energy out of his core and onto his fingers.

To his surprise, it wasn’t as difficult as he had imagined it to be.

SSS-grade talents sure has its perks.

Now he needed to refine it.

Spiritual energy flowed out of his core and fused with the lightning surrounding it. Violent currents surged through his body, tearing across his muscles and bones before eventually returning to the core far denser than before.

It fused with the thin layer of electricity while travelling in his body, resulting in multiplying the lightning drastically which then travelled inside of him before returning to the core.

The energy now appeared to have somewhat adapted to transforming into lightning element.

The process left his back soaked in sweat as his body felt sluggish.

"Trying to control an element and increasing its power is far more difficult than I initially thought."

This was a completely new territory that appeared to be as vast as the ocean and as boundless as the sky.

Yet it only gave him more thrill for the endless things that he could do with this power.

However, he couldn’t practice doing this every second or he might have to lie in bed for a week straight.

Hence he decided on performing three full-body circulations each day, and two hours of telekinesis practice on top.

One refined his mind while the other strengthened his body, at least in the long term.

Exhaling, he attempted to refine it for the second time, and it left him in a state worse than he had expected.

But remembering what he had gone through in his past life, the feeling of being powerless and weak forced him to continue and only stop after he was done, not when he was tired.

After another two full-body circulations, his breath now came in ragged bursts and left him mildly disoriented.

"I need to do this every day, I can’t fall on the very first day."

After resting long enough to recover, he stood up from his spot and reached the balcony after sliding the floor-to-ceiling window open.

Firstly, he checked for any person in the balconies present below and above him with the help of his telekinesis talent, though the range was around ten meters and wasn’t capable of reaching the lower floors.

"Well, I am far enough I guess." Muttering, he extended his hand and focused inward.

In half a second, the same process repeated inside his body but this time, only the lightning was in much greater quantity and travelled rapidly towards his right arm, which then shot towards the sky.

A burst of lightning was released from his hand and produced a thunderous roar that seemed to shake the heavens themselves.

That was a bit exaggerating.

He went back into the living room before anyone could rush to their balcony and spot him. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

It felt absurd as it wasn’t even a full day before he had received his talent and he was already capable of unleashing such a devastating attack.

"That strike might have easily fried an awakener’s brain if not outright killed them."

As he was about to enter his room, the door behind him opened and Evelyn stepped out.

She looked calm, terrifyingly calm. A layer of coldness seemed to permeate the air around her and even approaching her gave off a pressure that would make people reconsider their actions.

Nevertheless, this aura was nothing compared to Lucien’s own which he had learned to restrain in only three refinements.

An sss-grade talent was truly on an entirely different league than an s-grade one.

"Are you feeling alright?" He asked, with a tone that lightly contained possessiveness and worry at the same time.

She nodded her head and replied calmly, "Let’s eat."

With a raised brow, he sat down on the dining chair and didn’t probe too much, keeping his mouth shut.

The same way Evelyn had learned not to question the supplies that seemed to never finish and always restocked the next morning, with different items at that.

Despite that, her thoughts continued linking everything together, such as him conjuring the nail gun in his hand, making her ultimately reach a conclusion.

He has a space-related talent.

She herself knew that while elemental talent sounded cool and intimidating, they were far weaker than something that commanded the very fabric of reality, despite being only a part of it.

It could probably kill people without them ever realising from distances far enough to be measured in kilometers, and allow travel to any location in under a second.

To a storage that wasn’t flooded and had tons of food in stock.

And this power was with the man before her.

Or that’s what she thought.

Lucien, completely oblivious to what was going through Evelyn’s overthinking mind enjoyed the taste of cooked salmon with a pinch of lemon on top.

After finishing the meal, he let his body sink into the sofa and spun the wheel using his recently obtained gacha tickets.

"What’s spirit rice?" Furrowing his brows, he contemplated. Sure, he had enough knowledge about novels to understand cultivation and spiritual energy. Still, from the ones he had read, the closest thing that came to his mind was spirit stones.

He hadn’t heard about spirit rice in his life.

Curious, he conjured a single grain of spirit rice between his fingers and inspected it.

Its appearance was the same as that of any other normal grain of rice, so he consumed it to see if it was beneficial in any way or not.

The next moment caught him off guard.

The single grain of spirit rice released the same amount of spiritual energy as a normal full meal had earlier, which made him almost jump on his bed in disbelief.

"Hahaha, now I don’t need to worry about how to grow stronger. I can just eat and relax."

Still, he held his horses and soon calmed himself down, for he had only received ten kilograms worth of it.

Considering two people, it should last around twenty to twenty-five days if eaten normally.

And this was a rare-tier reward.

So it wouldn’t be common and even if pulled, there was no guarantee he would receive it again.

But he could care about that for later when the problems arose, for now, a major issue had been solved, although temporarily.
