Michael had just asked the question when suddenly, a door swung open. Carol looked a little confused as she stepped out of her room.

She had clearly heard the commotion happening in the hallway. But she was not really sure if she should come out or not. Eventually, she decided to come out and check what was going on.

But the moment that she stepped out of her room, she gazed at Michael and Kate, who she was familiar with. But, there was another person, who was a stranger, who was performing?

Anyway, that was not what caught her attention. It was just the fact that there was so much destruction that had been done in the hallway. She wondered, who did this, and why?

Immediately after she thought about that, she looked at the guy who was in an awkward position. She thought, could it be possible that this guy was the one who had been causing chaos here?

Just as she was thinking about this, Kate went over. She understood that issues related to mutants should not involve someone like Carol.

Otherwise, the incident that had happened at the auction house, Michael would have allowed her to know about it. So, she just asked Carol not to mind what was happening here, and take a rest.

She gave her a reminder, they would start training at dawn break. Despite her curiosity, Carol eventually gave in, and went back into her room, deciding that she would ask Carol about what was going on here the following day.

After Carol retreated, Kate went and stood next to Michael, gazing at Jackson, who seemed to be struggling.

Clearly, after Michael had asked the question, the guy was unwilling to respond. But right now, with the influence of the pill that he had just taken, he was being forced to answer the question.

But because this guy was a mutant, obviously, there would be some form of resistance as compared to if the pill was taken by an ordinary person.

Michael was not impatient though. He just waited, and a few seconds later, finally, Jackson could not hold on any longer. His twisted face showed reluctance, but he could not control himself as he spoke.

"I am known as Jackson, born with extraordinary strength. I was taken to a laboratory for experiments, against the wishes of my parents. They did experiments on me, trying to understand my situation and see if there was a way of replicating it in other people.

This process lasted for over 5 years, but they did not succeed. After that, with the appearance of the mutation serum, I was given one, and I gained an ability that improved my speed and agility.

After that, I was given another identity, that was, I was supposed to work for the government. I do their dirty work, eliminating threats for them, and those people that the law cannot be used against them." Jackson explained.

The explanation was quite lengthy, but Michael was able to summarize that some of the information had already been revealed by James previously.

But according to what Jackson revealed about himself, it was clear that when he was about to be taken away, there was a promise that his family would be compensated.

His parents were obviously not willing to have him exchanged for money. After all, they understood, there was a possibility that Jackson could end up dying during the experiments.

But, Jackson thought about the life that they were having, and thought, as long as he could survive the experiments for 10 years, he would be free. Additionally, they had promised to give his family $10 million, for taking him away.

Though, there was an issue, which was the fact that until this day, only $1 million of the $10 million that was promised had been handed over.

When he inquired about it, Jackson was informed that the remaining amount would be settled the moment that he was done with the contract. After all, he had signed a 10-year contract, implying that he would be under the government for 10 years.

As for the consequences of breaking the contract, one could already imagine what would happen...

Despite the fact that he was not happy about this arrangement, he had no choice but to go along with it. And during the time that he was bound by the contract, he was not allowed to contact his family.

To ensure that, some arrangements had already been made, in a case where, if he dared to deliberately try making contact with his family, it would be considered a breach of the contract.

Because of this, he had no other choice but to follow the arrangements that had been made, while hoping that everything would progress smoothly for the next 4 years.

After getting an understanding of Jackson’s identity, Michael did not linger on that and instead went to the main issue.

"So, was it someone from the government that sent you after me? After all, I only just arrived here in the capital, and you’re already here, targeting me." Michael asked.

Kate, who was standing next to Michael also listened intently. She was also curious about the reason why Jackson wanted to kill them.

"I did not come to find you because of anyone from the government. Instead, it is someone, the leader of the blood reapers syndicate, Amos, who made a deal with me.

He knew about me long ago, and had some connection with my family. But we eventually were not on good terms with each other, which is why he did not care about my family when I was taken away.

But a few days ago, he came looking for me. He told me that there was someone that he wanted to take out. That person was a mutant, and note an ordinary one at that.

He told me about the risks that could be involved in taking this task, but he promised me that he would give my family a good amount of money. Because I am being monitored, I cannot directly receive the money, but my family can.

Additionally, with the past relationship between my family and Amos, it would not be much of a problem to make it that Amos was the one who decided to help out my family after a long time of misunderstanding.

Transferring a huge amount of money to my family at once would be extremely suspicious. Therefore, he decided to start with $10 million for now, but once in a while, huge find other metals of transferring either cash or assets to them.

Of course I am always monitored by someone. It is impossible for me to do anything that is not approved by the higher-ups.

Never in his life had he ever experienced something like this. Even in that secret facility that he was experimented on, he had never heard of something like this existing.

Initially had thought that Michael was just joking around with him, trying to bluff him. But now, no matter how much he tried to resist, he just found himself blabbering about everything that Michael had asked him about.

At this point he finally understood why Amos came looking for him. It was clear, Michael was not a simple person. Not to mention the method that he had used to suddenly make him freeze in place, but there was this mysterious pill as well.

He could confirm that Michael was just 18. At 18, for him to have such an incredible ability, it was clear that he was someone from a very big background. Just what kind of background was that?

Immediately, in his heart, he thought, he would definitely make sure to pay Amos a visit, if he really made out of here. That guy, the only came looking for him, just to send him to his death.

Initially, he had thought that it was just everyone getting what they wanted. And, Jackson believed that it would not be difficult to deal with someone that had not yet destroyed the entire blood reapers syndicate.

It was only when he faced Michael that he finally understood why it was difficult for that old man to deal with Michael. Additionally, it was clear, Michael had yet to make a move on the blood reapers syndicate or maybe there was something that was holding him back.

Otherwise come by now, that organization would be in chaos, or would not be existing anymore.

To deal with such an organization, Michael did not need to kill everyone from that organization. Instead, just kill a few main figures of the organization, and the other predators watching from the side would do the rest.

Initially, Michael had his own suspicions about whom might have targeted him. But he never really believed that there was a possibility that Amos was the one who had sent Jackson after him.

Regardless, now that he knew about it, it seemed that he would have to deal with that old man earlier than he had initially planned. Otherwise, that guy might end up causing more problems for him.

While he could deal with them, who could predict what would happen next? It might be a problem not directly aimed at him, but to someone else that he cared about.

If he could not deal with it on time, the consequences could be catastrophic.

"Okay, I’m going to give you a chance. I wonder, are you willing to take the chance, or you would not mind paying an early visit to hell?" Michael’s spoke after a few seconds of silence.
