There was quite an extended moment of silence after Margaret asked the question. Matthew was not really sure on how he was supposed to reply, he felt completely hesitant.

Looking at him, Margaret was able to figure out something. Clearly, the person that she wanted to meet was not here.

Squinting her eyes, she gazed at Matthew and asked, "What is it? Don’t tell me that you are unwilling? Maybe, do you think that my niece is not good enough for your grandson?"

As she asked that question, her voice was low, but the coldness within it did not diminish at all. Immediately, Matthew and Newton understood that Margaret wasn’t happy.

Despite the hesitation, the old man finally decided to speak. He had already made a decision a few moments ago, after thinking hard about it.

It was a difficult decision to make, but he thought, he would definitely not make the same mistake as before. Previously, because he wanted Zachary to marry Margaret, he tried pushing for it to happen.

It was only when Zachary eloped that he finally understood that Zachary seriously was in love with someone else. It was impossible to be able to convince him otherwise.

It was because of this that after he found out where Zachary was, he really never intended to expose his whereabouts. Additionally, seeing that his son was not doing bad, he decided not to interfere in his life.

He believed, eventually, Zachary would return, together with his grandson. Unfortunately, disaster struck when he was not paying attention, and he lost his son and daughter-in-law, and nearly lost his grandson as well.

This was something that he really regretted after realizing what had happened. And now, despite the pressure that the Santos family was facing, he decided, even if it was not for the interest of the family, he had to consider Michael.

At the moment, the relationship between Michael and the Santos family was kind of strained. This was of course thanks to his own son, who ignored Michael when he needed help the most.

"Actually, we really don’t have much control over Michael’s actions. So, it is impossible for us to be able to decide his marriage partner.

I’m sorry about this. The only thing that we can do is to maybe introduce you guys, and see if he would agree to this marriage." Matthew spoke, surprising Newton.

This decision, he was obviously in the dark about it. He wanted to convince his father otherwise, but then again, when he thought about it, he realized, there really was no any other solution.

If it was Henry that Margaret as a son-in-law, Newton would find a way of convincing his son to agree. In fact, he believed that Henry would agree, understanding the current situation of the family.

But it was a completely different matter with Michael. It was not only due to the current relationship between them, but it was also related to Michael’s unknown background.

That kid, he was obviously a mutant. And of course, despite the fact that taking the mutation serum hot risks, not just anybody could acquire the mutation serum.

It was clear, Michael had found a way of getting access to the mutation serum. And more than that, the fact that his company, Sky Technologies, was making such big waves, it was clear that there was someone else behind him.

It was not long ago that they had cleared the misunderstanding between them. If they tried to force Michael to marry someone that he was not interested in, things could suddenly shift.

The enmity that had just been dealt with would suddenly appear again. And nobody could tell the consequences of that, especially if Michael’s background was at the same level as the Rico family.

Another thing that he noticed though, that was the fact that with this decision, there was a probability of tiding through this situation.

If Michael agreed, then, there would definitely be a relationship between the Rico family and the Santos family. Even if the relationship would not be deep, at least, there would be no enmity.

Moreover, as long as they could make sure that the Rico family did not partner up with the blood reapers syndicate, it would be much better. They would not be able to easily take down the blood reapers syndicate immediately, but at least, it would only be a matter of time.

Margaret went silent the moment that she heard Matthew’s response. Clearly, she had not anticipated this. At least, from her perspective, she thought that the Santos family would try to bring Michael back after knowing about the death of his father.

In fact, she thought that what Michael currently had, it was related to the Santos family. But now, from the looks of it, that did not seem to be the case.

If it was true that the Santos family was the one that had given Michael what he currently had, then it would not have been much of a problem for them to be able to make a decision for him.

"Okay, I understand. Still, I would like to ask again, are you sure that you are not the ones who are not interested in the marriage alliance?" Margaret spoke a few moments later.

In response to this, Matthew decided to reveal the truth, of course, part of it. He explained, "Actually, by the time that we knew about Michael’s existence, he was already established in Brenton city.

In fact, due to some schemes by the blood reapers syndicate, he had kind of some resentment towards the Santos family. It was only a few days ago that we cleared up that misunderstanding.

It is because of this that the relationship between us is not very deep. We are still working on integrating him back into the Santos family, but it will take time.

Hence, we are not capable of making any decision regarding his marriage for him. Additionally, I would also like to tell you about something. When you approach him, please, consider the fact that he can make his own decisions, please, don’t force him.

The kid already lost a lot, so, I would really love him to make the decision himself, not being forced into something that he doesn’t want to do."

Margaret did not immediately respond to Matthew’s words. Instead, she just remained silent, as if she was contemplating about something.

On the other hand, Rachel could not help but frown slightly. She had thought that she was coming to meet with Michael today. Unexpectedly, he was not even here.

But as she was thinking about this, she realized, was this not an opportunity for her? If she could make Michael refuse the marriage, she would be free.

She understood Margaret the most. Even the issue regarding her breaking up with her boyfriend, she had not really been forced to do it. It was just that Margaret had made a request.

In her entire life, with Margaret taking care of her, she had never really asked for anything from her. It was only this issue related to marriage that Margaret had asked her, which was why she agreed, despite being reluctant.

Of course, if she was not the one who disagreed with the marriage, then, there was no way that her aunt would blame her for anything.

As soon as she thought about this, she decided, the moment that she left here, she would use every method that she could in order to find Michael’s whereabouts.

After that, she would find methods of making sure that he did not agree for this marriage to go through.

As she was still thinking about this, Margaret finally spoke. She gazed at Matthew and said, "You should know about my personality. I really never force anything regarding personal feelings.

If I really was that type of person, do you think that I would have allowed Zachary to escape? On the very day that he refused, I would have used other methods in order to be able to get to him.

But I am someone who really considers feelings. Despite the fact that he is already gone, I love him. And for that reason, I am willing to abandon the fact that it is kind of uncomfortable for me to know that he had a son with another woman, to proceed with this arrangement."

Matthew and Newton felt relieved when they heard that. At least, as long as Margaret did not try to force Michael to do anything, there would be no conflict.

A few seconds after she had spoken, Margaret got up. She looked at Rachel who seemed lost in thought and said, "We are leaving. I would like you to tell me where he currently is. I’m going to look for him."

To this question, neither the old man or Newton had an answer to it. So, Matthew shook his head as he said, "What I know is the fact that he has a villa in Brenton city. As for if he is currently there or not, I’m not really sure."

Margaret frowned, obviously displeased by the response. She asked, "You don’t have his contact information to ask him about his current location?"

The old man felt a little awkward when he heard that question. It was not that he did not have Michael’s contact information. It was just that, he was not sure how he was supposed to ask Michael about this.

"What is wrong? I you sure that you are trying to mend the relationship between you? If you cannot even call him, do you want me to believe what you just told me?" Margaret asked, impatient.
