Xiao Yuxi’s voice was full of dejection, and a deep worry appeared on her face. The longer Xiao Fenghao stayed down there, the dangerous it became. What if he encounter animals like poisonous insects or snakes?

"Should we go find help first?" Xiao Yuxi mumbled under her breath. She sighed in dilemma. "What if meet the bear again...?"

With that, they quickly gathered some firewoods from the surroundings. They sky had become a lot darker. There was no moon above, and the atmosphere became a few times much more unsettling in the dark.

Occasionally, they still heard the noise from critters around.

It took a few tries for Shen Yaojin to lit the fire. The girls stayed beside the fire, trying to make themselves feel warm.

"Sister Yaojin... is it okay if you stay with us for so long? It’s already dark. Your family might be looking for you," Xiao Yuxi said a little guiltily.

She and her brother had troubled Shen Yaojin a lot.

There was a brief silence between the two of them; only the sound of cracking fire resounded in their ears.

"It’s only me in the family now, don’t worry about it," Shen Yaojin said after a while.

She pulled the package of leaves from among the firewood and began to open it, revealing a few wild fruits inside. "Do you want some? Take it and replenish your energy. We will try to pull your brother out once again after that."

Xiao Yuxi snapped back to her senses. Her guilt intensified. Her mouth opened; she wanted to apologize, and yet upon seeing Shen Yaojin’s expression, she held herself back.

She didn’t seem to want to talk about it.

Xiao Yuxi cleared her throat and slowly nodded, taking a few fruits and started eating them. Shen Yaojin had picked quite a few; she seemed familiar with this area.

"Sister Yaojin, can I share this with my second brother?" She asked. Although she would only give Xiao Fenghao her share, it was Shen Yaojin who had picked the fruits after all.

Shen Yaojin nodded, grabbing some fruits and handed them over to Xiao Yuxi. "Go ahead. I was also about to give him some."

"No, no, eat the fruits, Sister Yaojin. I and Second Brother will share. We can’t take more of your fruits." Xiao Yuxi shook her head. She jumped to her feet and started wrapping the fruits with some leaves.

Then, she walked toward Xiao Fenghao’s location. "Second Brother, I am going to throw some fruits for you. Be prepared to catch it, fo let them get smashed to the ground!"

She heard Xiao Fenghao’s voice, and then let go of the fruits, feeling relieved when she saw he had managed to catch it.

"I will throw some more. Catch it." Shen Yaojin somehow has appeared beside Xiao Yuxi, startling the latter.

Before Xiao Yuxi could say anything, Shen Yaojin already let go of the fruit package. Xiao Fenghao caught it and thanked them, especially Shen Yaojin, giving her a deep look.

The two girls continued to eat their fruits after that, taking some rest and replenishing their energy.

On the other side, the search conducted by the villagers had to be stopped for a while because most of them didn’t bring oil lamps.

During the night search, the number of participants were obviously much lower. Surprisingly, Steward Xu and his men came back again after they fetch some oil lamps, joining the search.

Xiao Jingran had returned to the group, carrying an oil lamp in his hand to illuminate the way. He had finally found a few ghosts to ask about the clues, but most of these ghosts rarely wander far from their lane, so their knowledge was also limited.

When the night became deeper, most of the villagers who participated in the search returned. They promised the would help again in the morning.

Only Xiao Jingran and Zhou Wenzhi’s group remained. "This way, Grandfather."

At this moment, Xiao Xue was sniffing around. After Xiao Jingran caught up with the group, it had separated itself.

"You are going to tell others about our location?" She couldn’t understand the System’s intention without Xiao Qingya around, so she could only guess what it wanted.

Xiao Xue meowed, and then ran away, making Xiao Yuxi grew even more bewildered.

The two girls tried to pull Xiao Fenghao out of the underground place again to no avail. However, since the System had found them, Xiao Yuxi believed that they would be saved soon.

And she was right. A few hours later, Xiao Jingran and Zhou Wenzhi’s group found them.
