Live Strong in the Wilderness
Chapter 464: Schemes of Their Own (Good Luck in the Year of the Rat)
Everyone was stuffed. They all ate too much.
This meal, with so many dishes, was the most sumptuous one they’ve had since coming to the wilderness.
For Lu Ke and the others, today felt like New Year’s, or perhaps even better.
For Xu Yi, today was New Year’s. Of course, he couldn’t say anything about it.
They chatted idly for a while before getting up to move around and help with digestion.
They weren’t surprised by Xu Yi’s promotion, as it had always been Xu Yi who advanced first, and then the rest of them. This time, Lu Ke advanced ahead, which was what surprised them.
Now that Xu Yi caught up, it seemed normal to them.
After practicing the Eighteen Forms of Body Strengthening a few times, Wang Jin curiously looked at Xu Yi and asked, "Xu Yi, now that you’re a level 4 Divine Master, can you do anything you couldn’t do before?"
Without saying anything, Xu Yi’s body floated up and then moved forward a short distance.
Then, Xu Yi extended his hand towards Erlan, and Erlan suddenly flew away.
"That’s all." Xu Yi ended his demonstration. After all, those were the only things that could be shown so directly.
Su Yan, a bit dissatisfied with the little shown, said, "Is that all the change?"
Xu Yi stroked his chin and said, "The attack power has increased, but there’s no way to demonstrate that. Also, my five senses have enhanced, but there’s no way to show that directly either."
Qin Yue glanced at Lu Ke, then turned to Xu Yi and asked, "Xu Yi, can you easily defeat Lu Ke now?"
"Hmm, quite easily," Xu Yi answered truthfully.
Everyone immediately had a rough guess of Xu Yi’s strength since they were quite familiar with Lu Ke’s abilities.
"Let’s go back to training and try to break through to level 4 as soon as possible, then continue to advance," Qin Fan said, turning back to the tent to continue training.
After everyone returned to their tents, it began to rain heavily outside.
With thunder and lightning, it looked like a big storm.
"Young Marshal, another warrior has advanced."
In Li Kang’s tent, someone rushed in excitedly to report.
"Good, very good," Li Kang immediately sat up, happily responding.
He had been pretending to be seriously injured and recuperating.
Li Kang found that after advancing to a level 3 Mage, his recovery speed was much faster than before. However, he didn’t want to show it too soon.
So he, along with a few others injured that day, stayed hidden in the tent, claiming they hadn’t recovered yet.
With another advancement, it meant their team now had five level 3 Mages.
"How about Chen Hui, hasn’t he broken through yet?" Li Kang asked next.
Chen Hui, the team’s military doctor, was the one Li Kang most hoped would advance.
"Not yet, but Chen Hui has been diligently training. And he received the most meat, so he should break through soon," the person reporting said, somewhat enviously.
Li Kang nodded, just about to dismiss the person, when someone outside called, "Reporting to Young Marshal, Chen Hui has something to report."
"Come in," Li Kang was immediately delighted.
Needless to say, Chen Hui must have advanced; otherwise, he wouldn’t have come looking for him at this moment.
As Li Kang’s words fell, a man not yet thirty walked in.
"Reporting to Young Marshal, I’ve advanced, and finally didn’t let your support go to waste," Chen Hui said excitedly, immediately coming over to report his advancement.
Chen Hui knew he received the most Fierce Beast Meat. Some people didn’t even get meat, just a little bone soup.
"It’s good you’ve advanced, very good," Li Kang stood up, patted Chen Hui’s shoulder, and said with immense joy.
Chen Hui was first dazed, then asked somewhat puzzled, "Young Marshal, weren’t you seriously injured, how come..."
"Some people are just waiting for me to be seriously injured, so I showed them what they wanted to see," Li Kang smiled, then glanced at the person who came in earlier.
"Sun Qiang, tell me, how many people have they persuaded today?" After asking, Li Kang sat back down, not letting Chen Hui leave.
At that moment, Chen Hui understood he had become a core member of the team.
There were things Li Kang would no longer hide from him.
So, he couldn’t help but straighten his chest a little.
"Six, another six fence-sitters switched sides. Damn it, we haven’t treated them badly, and now with a bit of food shortage, they get poached, no loyalty at all," Sun Qiang complained like a rapid-fire gun.
"It’s okay, this will also reduce our pressure. As long as the total number of people doesn’t decrease," Li Kang waved his hand, for now, he hoped more people would be poached. That way, the pressure on food distribution would lessen.
Unfortunately, too few people were leaving.
Or perhaps, Ivica and Ji Rui’s digesting capacity wasn’t large enough.
After all, not just Li Kang, but Ivica and Jerry also faced food shortages.
"That’s true, currently we can only support fewer than 50 people normally, and it’s only sustainable for 3 more days. Young Marshal, should we hunt in the level 3 Fierce Beast area again tomorrow, or continue sending people to the level 2 area?" another level 3 Mage asked.
Li Kang took out a cigar, lit it, and said, "Continue sending people, and we’ll also go to the level 3 Fierce Beast area. Over there, they have four in total, right? They’ll likely make a move tomorrow too."
"Now, with six level 3 Mages, we have the advantage. And we have more chances to maintain this advantage. We’ll depart before dawn tomorrow. Now, everyone go back and rest well, gather here at 5 tomorrow."
"Yes."
Everyone saluted and then exited Li Kang’s tent.
At that moment, in Ivica’s tent, Ivica, Lei Jie, Jerry, and Lavinie were gathered.
"Lei Jie, are we really not considering defeating Li Kang and completely annexing his camp 1?" Jerry asked Lei Jie, not as something he suggested, but rather Ivica’s idea. However, he was more suited to say it.
"No need to consider it, we can’t beat them. And doing so would be delivering opportunity right to them," Lei Jie replied with a sneer.
He thought his sister was quite ignorant of power; Li Kang and his team were indeed heavily injured, but definitely not to the extent of being unable to retaliate.
Another point is, although they now have four level 3 Mages, does Li Kang’s side really only have four?
If they can’t defeat Li Kang, then they would be the ones getting annexed.
At that point, Li Kang wouldn’t just be acting ’reasonable’ in doing so.
