Chapter 1020

The moment the command was given, the entire town plunged into absolute chaos that shook the whole of Kiten from its very foundation.

Randin swung his hand with sharp authority from where he was positioned atop one of the numerous buildings in the background.

Immediately, the heavy cannons he had created himself surged to life, and brilliant blasts of energy burst out with full force.

BANG!

Crashing directly into the oncoming enemy army, the ground shuddered violently, followed by a thick blanket of dust that covered an entire section as both massive armies charged recklessly at one another.

Beside him, Lilly could be seen standing with her special bow, uniquely crafted by the Supreme Magus.

Drawing back on the string, a bright glow appeared around the weapon, and soon, a blood-red arrow materialized on the cord, nocked firmly in place.

TWIP!

Releasing the tense string, the arrow shot into the air with full speed.

Mid-air, it multiplied exponentially into a thousand arrows from the single projectile shot by the female warrior.

Descending upon the charging army, a thunderous explosion ripped through their midst as bodies were blasted in all directions.

The mages and warriors from Grey’s legion clashed with the Otherworlders with world-shaking force.

Complex spells and sharp ki slashes burst out from both ends of the battlefield. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

Both forces possessed the exact same type of allies; the Otherworlders had powerful mages and disciplined warriors in their ranks, and so did Grey’s legion.

The only primary difference was that the warrior mage didn’t have beasts under his command.

The monstrous beasts from the Otherworlders roared and began ripping through enemies with a rapid speed and force that seemed entirely absurd.

The immense level of ferociousness they exerted was simply too great, as figures could be seen flying in all directions.

Energy sprayed across the battlefield as the beasts raked across the legion’s defensive ranks with either their sharp claws or their massive fangs.

Some of the beasts even possessed magical affinities, as volatile fireballs burst out of their maws, followed immediately by sharp wind slashes from their tails that tore through the vanguard.

Within mere seconds, the battlefield had turned into utter chaos, and forces had already dropped on both sides, fighting with all their remaining strength and refusing to back down no matter what.

Grey didn’t move an inch from his current position, and neither did his closest allies, as they remained completely unmoving.

Their collective gazes shifted from the chaotic main battlefield to focus entirely on the main enemies at the back: Gustav and his six zodiacs who flanked him, calmly watching the battle unfold in pure amusement.

"Which one is Vince?" Amir asked as he scanned the zodiacs’ figures, which were still covered by their ornate masks.

Out of the six, two had already unmasked previously, leaving the others still obscured.

Gunther frowned deeply as he could feel a familiar, dark energy radiating from the zodiacs’ positions.

"Orion is there, isn’t he?"

Grey nodded slowly.

"Yes. On the far left."

Mada’s gaze narrowed instantly as he spotted the specific zodiac Grey described.

His chest tightened both in fear and profound sadness.

’Fath... Orion... you escaped the other day, but I will make sure you don’t this time around.’

Turning to face Amir, Grey uttered:

"I still don’t know which is Vince. He refuses to step out nor unmas—"

His words were abruptly interrupted as he turned around to see the zodiacs—all except for the Upper Zodiac One—unmasking themselves in unison.

They were pulling the dark coverings off their faces, revealing their true visages to the world.

Grey caught sight of Vince standing amongst them, and his jaws tightened immediately in anger.

Looking further down the line, he saw Orion, and then he spotted another man entirely.

The moment his focus landed on him, his eyes lit up in sudden recognition.

Even Amir shifted his weight slightly, his sharp gaze locking onto the man immediately.

Lucien Nightbane... the former Principal of Lunaria academy.

Grey’s jaws tightened immediately as he glared at the familiar faces.

Betrayals... people he had trusted with his life at one point.

He didn’t care about Orion nor about Lucien, but Vince—his friend.

However, even after unmasking, they didn’t move to attack.

They remained completely rooted beside Gustav, who had now created a second metal throne and sat upon it, watching the unfolding carnage in absolute amusement.

Even though it initially looked like Grey had more men than the Otherworlders, that advantage was immediately discredited as the sheer force the Otherworlders carried was like no other.

For every individual Otherworlder taken down, they managed to defeat two or three men from Grey’s legion before finally falling.

The monstrous beasts were also dealing tremendous damage, as not every single foot soldier could easily take down a creature.

Especially ones of these absurd levels...

Grey frowned deeply.

’Appraisal...’

His left eye glowed with a dull blue light as he scanned all around the chaotic battlefield.

"Level tens... twelves... fifteen... level eighteen beasts?" he muttered with a shocked expression.

These were incredibly powerful beasts.

Not just anybody could take them down, most especially the common men he had brought with him.

A single level ten beast possessed the raw power to completely raze down a small town.

There was not a single enemy creature below level ten on the entire field.

The absolute weakest beasts he saw were level nines; aside from that, there was nothing lower.

Then he continued scanning, his gaze sharpening as he spotted high-tier entities he would usually only see on Vayun.

"... Saint-ranked beasts... Divine-ranked... whew. Fortunately, nothing higher than the Divine rank. Still, there is nothing lower than the Saint rank among the elites, which means only stage five warriors could ever hope to defeat those specific Saint-ranked creatures.

And unless they group together in large numbers, not a single regular person can defeat the Divine-ranked variants. This is bad," he kept mumbling anxiously as his eyes moved across the sprawling battlefield.

High above, Randin was still atop the buildings, repeatedly sending blasts of volatile energy from his cannons shooting forward, tearing through guts and heads alike.

Nearby, Lilly had already switched to normal arrows as she clenched her jaws tightly, actively fighting against the intense exhaustion that was biting into her body from using the taxing magical arrows from earlier.

Up in the sky, Kira had already had enough of waiting around.

Screeeech—!

The lightning phoenix screamed fiercely through the air, drawing some sudden glances her way from both sides.

Her beak opened wide as a bright, concentrated beam could be seen gathering at the back of her throat.

Gustav lifted a brow in mild intrigue.

’A lightning phoenix? Those are incredibly rare creatures. How did he manage to get one? When Orion had told me about it before, I didn’t believe it, but now, I can’t deny it.’

BANG—!

A bright, crackling sphere of lightning burst out of the phoenix’s beak, shooting forward like a glowing mini sun.

It smashed violently into the packed ranks of the enemies, immediately burning and electrocuting more than fifty men at once with a loud, thunderous crash that shook the very air.
