Mated to A Rival Alpha - Chapter 229: Her Attempt At An Escape
[CALINDRA]
’Don’t worry about me, right now, I am fine. Besides, I meant it when I said I would follow you to the pits of hell, brother. I didn’t know it would be this soon, but it doesn’t change anything for me.
’And for the women and children, I doubt Rania left them without any protection. I may not know her well and I may know she is a monster, but I know she has a soft spot for women and children.
’Who knows whether the other warriors are guarding the woman and children anyway?’ Daehyun responded though his words had sounded off to him too.
He didn’t know Rania that well but he also couldn’t count on Rania to spare and guard the women and children. The soft spot was just an assumption, one that could pull them into the deepest pits of hell if they ever believed in it.
But maybe he was hoping that this time he wasn’t wrong tight? 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Besides, the misfits of the world and the craziest band of chaos had come together for her, then it had to mean that she was someone worth loving, and someone worth going to war for, right?
But there were so many assumptions.
’They don’t exactly look like the type to go on a rescue mission. Anyway, if I get the chance, I will try to get you out of here. And if we succeed, please take care of our people, brother,’ Jihoon said and Daehyun sighed defeatedly.
He hated seeing his best friend like this and while he was hoping that he had a plan to get them both out of here, Daehyun knew that things wouldn’t ever change for the both of them.
They had been marked as targets and nothing would get them out of this.
"You owe me ten bucks, Odelia," Rania said when the rain started hitting a little too hard. However luckily for them, they had made it back to the camp and were sheltered.
The same couldn’t be said for their prisoners though, because Jihoon and Daehyun were out in the rain, watching as the lightning strikes grew more violent and terrifying, thanks to kaia, Han Seong and Chang Wook’s magic.
It was like they were doing this on purpose, but that didn’t matter to them because they were karma’s messengers so this was okay with them.
"Kaia literally said it would rain, woman," Odelia tried to argue but Rania wasn’t getting any of that.
She looked like she was looking for more excuses to make sure that Odelia gave in.
"Okay, if you say so. Then in that case, since you want to play poor, how about the dishes?" Rania teased and Oshita was quick to jump in. Of course, it was expected because he had never seen Odelia lose.
Odelia was always winning, and she never used magic or even her powers to try and get out of the truth and dare games. It was like she had some lucky streak, but goddamn, she had to be a really lucky woman.
"Guys come witness this! Odelia is about to do the dishes at dawn!!" Oshita said and the misfits huddled together, ready to see the miracle of the century. It wasn’t hard to excite these misfits and the rain outside didn’t stop them.
They were happy, so happy together it was sickening to watch. Even in a war, they found a way to be happy and maybe that could explain why Daehyun was smiling outside, like he already knew how this would end for the misfits and Rania.
He had always wished to see and even what happy Rania and right now, they were getting a glimpse of it. It could have been fun if they weren’t being rained on, but still, this was a beautiful sight for them.
"Keep dreaming, Oshita," Odelia said and the misfits chanted for her to give the bucks or do the dishes.
"Let’s play rock paper and scissors. If I lose, I will pay up, alright?" Odelia said and they all got out groans.
Of course, she would try to get out of paying in every way. Anyone would think that Odelia was dirt poor, but no.
The woman had stashes upon stashes of gold hidden nearly everywhere in the realm and she could easily get what she wanted, but that wouldn’t be any fun for them.
"Alright, but before we do that, I would like to call dibs on taking care of the prisoners," Han Seong said, as he looked outside the tent, but rushed back in because of the rain that was hard out there.
Even then, he didn’t mind taking the long road and the harsh assignment. Anything, but staying beside the two and women who would rain hell on them.
"And I will lead the warriors back home," Kaia added, like that was something anyone needed to do.
The warriors out there were mostly Kaia’s warriors, because their leader was here with them and they needed to hear what he had to say before they decided to go back to hiding for a while or if they would stay active and on the mission to keep Rania safe.
"I will be on guard," Oshita insisted, as if there was even a need to guard an immortal army. It was insane but every man was here for themselves, right?
"I will be assessing the injured warriors," Paloma said and they all rolled their eyes at her suggestion.
The warriors of the Incayon team had been unharmed thanks to the immortality spell that the three magical beings had cast earlier, but it was worth trying, right?
"And I’ll be offering the loser emotional support," Dlarae shrugged and they all looked at each other.
Well, wherever Rania and Odelia were playing games they were all victims of slavery.
They could easily be subjected to the worst of ideas so today, giving up their positions and making them known this early was their way to get out of any forced labor by the two.
And so for three hours, Odelia and Rania kept playing their game of rock paper and scissors. They both were so good at the game that there was no winner even when the sun had come up.
Thankfully, their friends had slept through the rainy night and had gotten good sleep.
However, they were surprised when they woke up to find Odelia and Rnaia looking like zombies, and even then, the two women were not willing to stop their game. It was crazy what commitment had on them.
"Rani, you need to rest. You can’t run away from reality anymore.
"This is happening, and as much as it is good using me as a distraction, you need to be able to face it, sweetheart," Odelia said finally when she realized that Rania had gotten weaker and her movements were slow, yet even then, she was still not letting go.
Odelia knew how hard it was for Rania to be here with her mate on the outside of their tenet. She knew the rains had been cruel, so cruel because even she had felt the impact of the lightning and she was inside a camp tent, the most secure tent of all of them.
She knew how horrifying an experience that had to have been and the fact that she had stayed awake all night, was proof that she still cared.
"Where are you taking me?"
"To see your husband."
