Chapter 228: Run, Yanna, Run

[CALINDRA]

"You really want to go for a run so desperately, huh, Yanna dear?" Kaia asked softly and reassuringly, and Yanna looked at him with a scowl on her face like she was disapproving of his methods.

However, it wasn’t like she had a choice to make at the moment, she was fucked and the sooner she accepted that, the sooner she could think straight ad come up with a solution for herself, which was nearly impossible right now.

"Then I’ll free you," Kaia said with a smirk on his face and the misfits cheered on, like they knew what was about to happen.

Kaia Seto was never the kind to let anyone be free. So this right here was a daring call for Yanna, though Kaia had already made his choice.

He would give the woman a lesson on freedom and watch if she could endure it, or stay put, because shit was about to happen right this moment.

"You will?" Yanna asked and Kaia traced a finger on her stray hair as if to make her comfortable.

He knew she didn’t trust him, but that didn’t matter to him. The only thing he needed was to see whether the little imp would take on the challenge. Maybe she would, but what if she didn’t? Well, they would find out.

"Yes, dear. I just realized that you are just like me. An orphan who doesn’t even know how her parents are. I bet we are the same in so many ways. Which is why you are free to go.

"Run, Yanna, Run, and don’t let me catch you. I will give you a head start of a whole day, love. Go, and don’t look back, alright?" Kaia said and Yanna didn’t even wait for the rest of the misfits to make their comment.

She instantly took off.

There was a lot she could do in twenty-four hours.

Of course, she knew that Kaia wasn’t a forgiving man and she knew that she had to try and best him. She would make a run for it and never come back. Right?

Maybe if she was a whole day ahead of Kaia Seto, she would be even free to seek refuge with the vampires or even the humans, right? Besides, there were different accords that they would need to follow.

But Kaia Seto was never one for rules so this wasn’t even shocking to them anymore.

"Now that she has left, I really feel hungry. Can I feed on the dying alpha? Just a bone, or even an ear? Goddamn, it has been quite long since I last fed on an alpha," Kaia said as he made strides toward the unconscious Alpha Taeho.

Jihoon felt his breath hitch in his throat as he tried to let out a sound, but the silver had taken effect a little too fast.

Maybe because he had just been too tired to even keep on fighting. This wasn’t what he had expected and this man was the one horrors that he had never imagined he would come across. What if the goddess decided to intervene this time?

"Please, not my father. Please feed on me then if you must. My father is dying anyway, please don’t make his life even harder, please," Jihoon begged and Rania let out a scoff this time.

She didn’t know much about her mate but she knew for a fact that Park Jihoon had never begged anyone. Hearing him begging was different and it made her feel a lot of things, though the only dominant emotion she could feel right now was anger.

"Take him with us, Kai. Who knows when we might get hungry since we have murdered the whole battalion? We might need a source of strength, and what better to feed on than the alpha who has fought so many wars and won, right?

"We might even need his stamina," Rania said as she looked at her mate. She knew she was hurting him but she didn’t care.

Honestly, if she wasn’t so tired from trying to make her way through the fire ad shit she would have engaged in a sparring session with Jihoon. She could have fought him even, but then she was tried and they didn’t have the whole night to be here.

The moon wasn’t here and the rains were starting. It would be flooded soon and they needed to be out of here before they had to seek refuge from the rain in the pack house that they had set fire on. That wasn’t what they wanted.

"Okay, that’s a good suggestion, brother. Let’s get going then. Eave the alpha to the dogs. They will need to eat when they realize that their meals were burnt," Rania said with a dark laugh before she led the way out of Calindra.

Their warriors were still burning the bodies as they were many, but all in all, for their first day here, they had really done a good job with it. They had brought Calindra to its knees and they were even getting prizes to take back home.

Oh but this would be a pretty sight when they made it back to Calindra, but until then, they would enjoy the serenity of what they had.

And so the misfits walked back to the camp, dragging with them Jihoon and Daehyun.

Of course, Daehyun hadn’t initially been caged, probably because he had been nicer to Rania, but that made the man wonder whether there was anyone with a conscience here.

Then again, they had made it clear that anyone who fucked with Rania would get the worst punishment of all time. Funny how they had gone from having Yanna as their prisoner to them being the prisoners of the world’s most dangerous team.

This was wild, especially given the fact that Kaia had freed Yana, just like that. But was it that simple? Was anything ever simple when it came to Kaia Seto?

"I don’t think he will be too tasty. Eating someone who can’t defend themselves is dumb. We can always feed on Daehyun or Jihoon if the hunger strikes again," Chang Wook suggested and Rania seemed to actually be thinking of the idea.

Whatever had happened to her had to have broken her so bad because this wasn’t the woman they are all proud of. She had changed and they had been there when it happened.

’I’m sorry, brother. I’m sorry that I got us into this mess. Maybe I can negotiate your release so you can go back home. Our people ended someone to make them understand what happened.

’Father is out and the women and children are in their most fragile state,’ Jihoon said to Daehyun in their mind link. He knew that this wasn’t what Daehyun had subscribed to when Jihoon had asked his best friend to be his beta.

This wasn’t what they had hoped for, but then life in itself was unpredictable as fuck. It was just a matter of time before everything went sideways, but maybe they would find common ground before then, right?

’Don’t worry about me, right now, I am fine. Besides, I meant it when I said I would follow you to the pits of hell, brother. I didn’t know it would be this soon, but it doesn’t change anything for me....’ Daehyun responded though his words had sounded off to him too.
