Upon hearing this, Zhang Zhiyi’s gaze towards them became even more lingering.

"Neighbors..." She smiled mysteriously, then took her husband’s hand and said to Xu Xingguang, "Don’t forget, tomorrow we’re going shopping for clothes, and the day after, we’re going to Tuo Ling Peak together. We must outshine You Mingyue. Bye-bye."

"Bye-bye."

After watching Zhang Zhiyi and her husband leave, Xu Xingguang finally opened the bag and took a bite of the fried snack.

"The car is in the parking lot, we have to walk over there." Huo Wen’an glanced down at Xu Xingguang’s feet. She was wearing white, thin-strapped high heels. The stone-paved ground of Yun Meng Old Street, although not with wide gaps, was not exactly smooth.

"Are your shoes easy to walk in?" Huo Wen’an admitted that Xu Xingguang looked more graceful in high heels, but he still thought the design of high heels was quite inhumane. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Xu Xingguang lifted the hem of her skirt to glance at her shoes and said, "No problem, just walk a bit slower."

"Hmm, okay." Instinctively, Huo Wen’an moved a bit closer to Xu Xingguang and said, "If you get tired, you can hold onto my arm."

"Okay."

The two strolled through the bustling crowd, the pearl-shaped street lamps casting a warm glow, which shone on Xu Xingguang, making her appear even more radiant and attractive.

Huo Wen’an took a glance, felt it wasn’t enough, and took another look.

Xu Xingguang felt a bit overwhelmed, so she searched for a topic and asked Huo Wen’an, "Where is Doctor Ye?"

"Something came up, so he left early."

"Then how are we going to get back?" She remembered that Boss Huo didn’t have a car.

Huo Wen’an replied, "He left the car for us."

Xu Xingguang then laughed, "Doctor Ye had urgent matters to attend to but left the car for us, he’s really a good person." He doesn’t attend free meals, doesn’t use the car he bought himself, there’s no one better in the world than Ye Mingluo.

Huo Wen’an certainly knew Xu Xingguang was teasing him.

She knew this was all deliberately arranged by him.

Huo Wen’an didn’t defend himself; he lowered his eyes, gazing at Xu Xingguang’s fair, jade-like face, and suddenly said, "I remember you were quite dark-skinned when you were a child."

Xu Xingguang raised her eyes to meet his, feeling a bit surprised. "Did we meet when we were young?" But Xu Xingguang had no impression of Huo Wen’an.

Huo Wen’an explained, "I always lived next door to you."

Xu Xingguang spent several summers in Cangshan Town; they were neighbors, she couldn’t possibly have not seen Huo Wen’an.

Adolescent Huo Wen’an must have seen childhood Xu Xingguang.

For Huo Wen’an, their acquaintance happened more than ten years ago. But for Xu Xingguang, her childhood was a distant past.

Xu Xingguang had been through soul-travel experiences across ten lives, and it was hard for her to recall what she did or who she met in Cangshan Town as a child.

Seeing Xu Xingguang’s bewildered expression, Huo Wen’an knew she didn’t remember him.

"Your mom was very nice." After thinking for a while, Huo Wen’an added, "The meat dumplings she made with egg skin were especially delicious."

Xu Xingguang still remembered her mother’s general appearance and that she could cook well, but she could no longer recall the taste of those dishes.

Xu Xingguang asked Huo Wen’an, "What was the ’me’ you knew like?"

Huo Wen’an gave a fair assessment, "Even more mischievous than boys. I remember one evening you raced to climb trees with a group of kids and climbed all the way to the top. You won first place, but when you came down, you slipped and your skirt got caught on a branch, but you still tumbled down."

Huo Wen’an chuckled briefly, stifling his laughter as he said, "You fell face first into the wheat field, weren’t seriously hurt, but got so dirty you looked like a muddy little person, with mud even inside your nose."

Xu Xingguang blushed at the thought.

She didn’t remember any of this, but with the vivid details Huo Wen’an provided, it didn’t sound like he was lying. "How come you only remember my embarrassing moments?"

Huo Wen’an furrowed his brows and thought for a moment, then said, "You didn’t do many normal things as a child."

Xu Xingguang was left speechless.
