Medical and Martial God - Chapter 448: Where Has a Grandson Ever Scared Away His Grandfather
Seeing Zhang Chuntao making a call for reinforcements, Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen panicked. Bracing himself, Song Mingde said, "Chuntao, what are you trying to do? I’m telling you, if you dare to mess around, I—I’ll report to the authorities..."
Song Kaiwen cooperatively took out his phone, making a show of being ready to call the authorities in hopes of intimidating Zhang Chuntao.
"Report to the authorities? Ha, go ahead, report all you want. Even if I kill you in front of a Patrol Officer, they wouldn’t dare lay a finger on me," Zhang Chuntao said with a sneer.
This piqued Ye Xiu’s curiosity. What kind of background did the Zhang Family have that made Zhang Chuntao so brazen, so unafraid of even the Patrol Officers? He glanced at Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen. Their faces were etched with despair; they obviously knew about the Zhang Family’s background.
Could it be the Brotherhood Alliance again?
Just then, two young men hurried in. The one in the lead was about twenty years old with a square face, thick eyebrows, and large eyes. He was tall and imposing, holding a Broad Sword and exuding an aura of power. The other, who looked to be in his late twenties, was scholarly and refined. He wore black-framed glasses, a white shirt, trousers, and leather shoes, and he carried a briefcase like a white-collar worker.
"Young Master Zhang, I’ve brought the man," the square-faced young man said, his voice rough and loud.
"Mm," Zhang Chuntao nodded. He then turned to the scholarly young man and said, "Lawyer Huang, you may begin."
"Of course." The man called Lawyer Huang deftly pulled a pen and three documents from his briefcase. He handed them to Song Mingde, saying, "Mr. Song, if you would please sign and stamp these three share transfer agreements."
Confused, but with a growing sense of dread, Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen took the documents. After flipping through a few pages, their expressions changed drastically. These were share transfer agreements, signing over 51% of Mingde Pharmaceuticals’ shares from Song Mingde to Zhang Chuntao.
"Zhang Chuntao, when did I agree to sell you the shares of Mingde Pharmaceuticals?" Song Mingde demanded furiously.
"No, no, you misunderstand. It’s not a sale; it’s a gift," Zhang Chuntao said with a sinister grin. "I gave you a chance. Since you refused my investment in Mingde Pharmaceuticals and rejected the Zhang Family’s acquisition of it, I have no choice but to force you to gift me 51% of the shares."
"In your dreams!" Song Mingde refused flatly, his voice laced with anger. "Zhang Chuntao, I never expected you to be this kind of person! I would sooner donate Mingde Pharmaceuticals than gift a single share to you!"
"That’s not up to you!" Zhang Chuntao sneered, pointing to the square-faced young man. "You probably don’t recognize him, do you? Let me introduce you. His name is Yin Gaofei, and he’s the son of Yin Tianxi, the number one expert on the global War God Ranking. The sword in his hand will make you obediently gift me those shares."
As if on cue, Yin Gaofei drew his Broad Sword and said threateningly, "Song Mingde, I advise you to listen to Young Master Zhang. Otherwise, my sword might just have to taste blood today."
Ye Xiu was speechless. So the Zhang Family’s backer was his own godson, Yin Tianxi.
Does that make this big fellow, Yin Gaofei, my god-grandson? He’s quite an ugly one at that.
After hearing Zhang Chuntao’s introduction, the faces of Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen drained of all color. They had long known the Zhang Family had an Ancient Martial Arts background, but they never imagined they were backed by Yin Tianxi. Yin Tianxi was an existence even more powerful than Xuanse’s Eight Great National Protector War Gods.
With Yin Tianxi as their backer, Yin Gaofei could massacre the entire Song Family and no one would dare say a word. However, if they gave the shares to Zhang Chuntao, the Zhang Family would use Mingde Pharmaceuticals to collaborate with Ye Xiu. The company would become nothing more than a money-making machine for their family, turning into a cancer in the medical field.
"Dad, if you give the shares to Zhang Chuntao, who knows how many innocent patients will be exploited by a Mingde Pharmaceuticals under their control? We can’t do something so unconscionable just to save our own lives," Song Kaiwen urged, his expression one of grim resolve.
"I understand your meaning. A family like the Zhangs, who would stop at nothing for profit, must never be allowed into the medical field. The consequences would be endless," Song Mingde said, having made a difficult choice. He stared at Zhang Chuntao with cold resolve and declared, "Go on, let Yin Gaofei kill us. We of the Song family would rather die than help a tyrant in his wickedness."
Ye Xiu nodded to himself. The fact that Song Mingde and his son would rather die than betray their principles as doctors was the mark of true healers.
"Don’t be in such a hurry to decide. Do you think dying is so simple, so easy?" Zhang Chuntao laughed cruelly, turning to Ye Xiu. "Ye Liangchen, I told you we’d settle our score, and now’s the time. To convince Song Mingde to obediently gift me his shares, I’ll start with you. I’ll let them witness what true torture is."
He then said to Yin Gaofei, "Cut off his mouth. Then, slowly, slice him up, one cut at a time. Let Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen get a good look at just how painful death can be."
Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen felt their scalps tingle. They couldn’t bear to imagine the gruesome sight of Ye Liangchen being sliced to pieces before their very eyes.
"Ye Liangchen is just a doctor from the Ancient Medical Hall! Whether I give you the shares or not has nothing to do with him! Don’t kill an innocent man!" Song Mingde shouted, quickly moving to stand in front of Ye Xiu as he glared at Zhang Chuntao.
"Scared already, and we haven’t even started?" Zhang Chuntao taunted. "Don’t worry. After Ye Liangchen is dead, it’ll be your turn. Yin Gaofei, do it."
"Understood!" Yin Gaofei lunged, thrusting his sword toward Ye Xiu’s mouth.
"No!" Song Mingde desperately shielded Ye Xiu with his own body, finally conceding, "I’ll give them to you! I’ll give you the shares! Just spare Ye Liangchen! I’ll give you all the shares of Mingde Pharmaceuticals!"
"Well, now. I’m surprised you care so much about this kid, old man," Zhang Chuntao said, amazed. He then gritted his teeth. "Too bad. Ye Liangchen ruined my plans. I said I’d settle the score with him, so whether you give me the shares or not, he dies today."
Hearing this, Song Mingde suddenly lunged forward and grabbed onto Yin Gaofei, shouting, "Ye Liangchen, run!" It was the only way he could think of to save Ye Xiu, using his own body to buy a precious second of time.
"Get off me, you old codger!" Yin Gaofei roared. With a mere flex of his arms, he sent Song Mingde sprawling. An ordinary old man was no match for the strength of a Martial Artist, and he collapsed onto the ground in a heap.
Seeing that Ye Xiu hadn’t moved an inch or taken the opportunity to escape, Song Mingde cried out anxiously, "Ye Liangchen, why aren’t you running?"
"Since when does a grandson scare his grandfather into running away?" Ye Xiu stated calmly.
Song Mingde and Song Kaiwen were speechless. How could he still be making wisecracks at a time like this?
"Yin Gaofei, did you hear that? Ye Liangchen says you’re his grandson," Zhang Chuntao chuckled, fanning the flames.
"Ye Liangchen, you’re courting death!" Yin Gaofei roared in fury, thrusting his sword toward Ye Xiu’s mouth once more.
