Early in the morning, Song Yushu was awakened by her phone’s alarm. She instinctively reached to turn it off, hoping to sleep for five more minutes, but suddenly noticed an unread text message from Ye Liangchen.

Her sleepiness vanished in an instant. She sat up sharply and eagerly opened the message: "If someone comes looking for me, just say I’ve gone to Guoyang. If they ask where I’m staying, tell them I’m at the Long Family Manor."

Song Yushu was utterly baffled. What does that mean?

Just then, her mother called from outside the bedroom, "Yushu, someone is here for you."

Song Yushu was startled. So someone really was looking for her. Without bothering to change her clothes, she ran out in her pajamas.

In the living room sat a remarkably pure and beautiful girl. Song Yushu went over and asked, "Excuse me, are you the one looking for me?"

"Are you Song Yushu?" Jiang Linglong asked, standing up.

"That’s me!" Song Yushu nodded.

"I’ve come for Ye Liangchen. May I ask where he is?" Jiang Linglong didn’t beat around the bush, getting straight to the point.

"Ye Liangchen has gone to Guoyang," Song Yushu said.

Jiang Linglong’s delicate brows furrowed slightly. "Do you know where he is staying in Guoyang?" she asked.

"He’s staying at the Long Family Manor," Song Yushu replied.

Jiang Linglong’s eyes sharpened. The Long Family? So Ye Liangchen has a deep connection with them. Could it be that Jiao Fuping and the Fire-Water Judges were killed by the Long Family?

At that thought, she departed in a rush without so much as a goodbye. She had to get to the Long Family Manor in Guoyang to confirm her suspicion.

After watching Jiang Linglong leave, Song Yushu immediately sent a text back to Ye Xiu: "The person who came looking for you was a very beautiful and pure-looking girl, maybe in her early twenties. I told her you were at the Long Family Manor, and she left in a hurry."

At that moment, Ye Xiu was in the villa’s courtyard, practicing his saber techniques with a sword. After all, Ye Liangchen’s persona was that of a disciple of the Evil Doctor Nangong Lie, whose martial art was the Traveling Dragon Sword Technique. If he were seen using a saber, it would arouse the Long Family’s suspicion.

Upon receiving Song Yushu’s text, a smug smirk crept onto Ye Xiu’s lips. Everything was going according to his predictions. Medicine King Valley really couldn’t figure out who killed Jiao Fuping and the Fire-Water Judges, so they sent someone to test me out, just as I’d expected. I just didn’t think they’d send such a fresh-faced beauty.

"Ye Liangchen," called Tang Bo, who had just arrived.

"Quite diligent, aren’t you? Up so early," Ye Xiu teased.

After his morning practice, Ye Xiu ate a quick breakfast and returned to the villa to wait for Jiang Linglong’s inevitable arrival.

Just then, a voice—deep yet clear, with a charming, coquettish quality—rang out. "Jiang Linglong of Medicine King Valley pays an unexpected visit."

"Jiang Linglong? What’s she doing here?" Tang Bo asked, puzzled.

"You know her?" Ye Xiu asked.

"Jiang Linglong is one of the three great prodigies of Medicine King Valley’s younger generation," Tang Bo explained. "At just twenty years old, her medical skills and strength have already surpassed the older generation. She’s been designated by Jiang Yuan as the successor to the leader of the renewal faction."

Oh? So the leader of the renewal faction is named Jiang Yuan. To think they’d send someone of her caliber to their death. If I were to kill her, Jiang Yuan would probably be so heartbroken he’d cough up blood, wouldn’t he?

"Let’s go meet her."

Ye Xiu got up and went outside, with Tang Bo trotting eagerly after him.

When they got outside, they saw a girl standing in the distance. She was tall and as beautiful as a flower, with a fresh-faced, youthful look, yet her clothes were plain and unfashionable.

Jiang Linglong, for her part, felt quite helpless. She had arrived at the Long Family Manor to find no one in sight, so her only option had been to call out.

"Over here!" Ye Xiu shouted.

Tang Bo was busy staring at Jiang Linglong, swallowing audibly.

Seeing him gawk at her, Jiang Linglong’s temper flared. "I’m talking to you," she snapped.

Tang Bo coughed awkwardly. "Why I’m here is none of your damn business," he retorted.

Ye Xiu sucked in a sharp breath. Who talks to a beautiful woman like that? This guy is staying single by sheer force of will!
