Chapter 1121: Smile Of Appreciation And Guilt
Hearing Anthony’s words, nobody reacted, as they at least knew this much, so they stayed silent, their composure remaining intact despite the weight behind his words.
"Now, this is where the Calling or Beckoning comes in," Anthony continued, "upon reaching the Apexus Mana Rank, I’ve felt something call out to me. Even as I’m talking to you, I can sense the Calling, faint yet ever-present, like a distant whisper that refuses to fade. Although I’ve not answered or reacted to it, my intuition tells me that answering this Calling will grant a passage to the Upper Galaxies," Anthony revealed without hiding anything.
At Anthony’s words, everyone’s eyes narrowed to slits as their minds raced faster than any computer or AI computing speed. They had already come to know that galaxy crossing was possible; after all, the Executioner had crossed from an Upper Galaxy to a lower one, theirs, but they also understood that there was no known path from the lower Galaxies to the Upper Galaxies, no bridge, no gateway, no recorded method.
Now, they were being told that this Calling or Beckoning was what granted a way to the Upper Galaxies, and this Calling came at the Apexus Mana Rank. But... they were at the Apexus Mana Rank; it wasn’t just them, there were billions of life forms and races at the Apexus Mana Rank, countless beings who had reached the pinnacle of power within their respective worlds and planet, yet nobody had ever heard of this Calling or Beckoning.
Did the Calling or Beckoning require something else?
They couldn’t help but ask themselves.
"Personally, I think the reason nobody has ever heard of this Beckoning or has any record of it is because maybe those who received it answered it immediately; hence, they vanished before they could tell anyone about it, although this is just a guess," Anthony explained as though he could read their minds.
Collins and everyone nodded their heads, as that seemed to make sense, but still, what was the requirement to receive a Calling? The question was practically written on their faces, and Anthony could see it clearly without needing them to voice it.
"I think to receive a Calling, one has to possess enough power to survive there, because ascending to the Upper Galaxies means starting from the very beginning again. One would be no different from an F- ranker there, and that is without backing, as one would be thrown into the unknown without any form of information, without guidance, without protection... well, unless whoever or whatever determines who receives a Calling actually gives information or help," Anthony stated calmly, laying out his thoughts with deliberate clarity.
Everyone stayed silent, their minds still spinning as they processed the implications.
Mitchelle’s lips parted as she spoke, "as you have said before, Anthony, one would be no different from an F-ranker when they get there, meaning the chances of real survival are effectively zero percent, and the real criteria for the Beckoning isn’t merely the ability to survive, but the possession of talent to at least thrive or endure there," her words calm and steady, carrying the weight of experience and sharp reasoning.
Everyone within this room was already over a thousand years of age; they were Supreme Monarchs who were schemers even in their sleep, beings who had survived conflicts and betrayals. Although Anthony had said nothing about talent directly, he still couldn’t fool them, after all.
"So we aren’t talented enough, huh?" Michael stated, his hands folded across his chest, his tone seemingly unbothered, yet carrying a subtle undertone of acceptance.
"You didn’t have to beat around the bush," Collins stated as he shook his head with a faint sigh, his gaze steady and at ease.
Anthony smiled as he had no reply to their words, as he couldn’t just bring himself to say it outright, even though they had already reached that conclusion on their own.
"So, who else do you think will receive this Beckoning?" Mitchelle asked, her gaze fixed on him, curiosity and calculation intertwined. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
Anthony replied immediately, "Aaaninja, Lucian, Kingsley, Aura Nova, Evelyn," he stated, not mentioning his remaining subordinates; he had only named Evelyn since she was linked to his grandmother, and thus relevant to this conversation.
"I see, that makes sense. After all, the people you’ve mentioned are all ridiculously talented like you; they all possessed planetary-level prowess without even going through the necessary existential changes at the Apexus Mana Rank," Collins intoned thoughtfully, his voice carrying quiet acknowledgment.
"So, when are you going to answer this Calling?" Irene asked, her voice calm yet curious, her eyes reflecting keen interest.
"I will answer it after the Divinora Galaxy battle ends, together with Aura Nova and the rest, just in case something is waiting for us at the other end. After all, just because one got the Calling doesn’t mean they simply went to the Upper Galaxy with ease; they could have also died in transit, erased before even arriving," Anthony explained calmly, his reasoning grounded and cautious.
Everyone nodded their heads, as they too had thought that far ahead, and they had assumed that it wasn’t that easy to get to the Upper Galaxy, especially not through something as mysterious as a Calling.
"One of the reasons I came isn’t just to give you this information, it is also to help you receive a Calling," Anthony continued, his gaze steady as it swept across them.
"Receive a Calling?" Michael asked, his brows slightly raised, a hint of surprise surfacing.
"Yes, since the requirement seems to be talent that will enable the ascendant to survive or thrive... at least before they die, I can increase your talents to the point that it forces the hand of whatever force is behind the Calling to acknowledge you," Anthony explained without missing a beat, his tone carrying quiet certainty.
Everyone stayed silent, not jumping at the offer immediately.
Anthony had once increased their talent and combat prowess through the fruit he gave them a few years ago; that had made them progress like never before, accelerating their growth beyond what they had thought possible. It was also the reason they came out of their seclusion this quickly, and now... their descendant was saying he was going to help increase their talent even further and turn them into ascendants.
They didn’t need to ask Anthony why he was doing it; they already knew why. They understood he couldn’t bring himself to leave them here and let their paths stagnate at this level when he had the power and ability to help.
If they were in Anthony’s shoes, they would have done the same; they couldn’t just leave their loved ones behind and ascend alone into the unknown, abandoning bonds that had defined their existence for centuries.
"Sigh... we, your parents and grandparents, are supposed to be the ones taking care of you, but instead, you are the one taking care of us since you’ve been young," Mitchelle spoke, a smile of appreciation yet filled with guilt appearing on her lips, her emotions laid bare despite her composed demeanor.
She appreciated Anthony’s gesture and hard work, but at the same time, she was filled with guilt that she, a mother who was supposed to be doing this, couldn’t; instead, her son was doing it, and her son was just twenty years of age.
At Mitchelle’s words, Michael and Collins simply sighed as they shook their heads, while Irene stayed silent, as she too had no words to add.
