Mr. Grant Treats Me Like a Treasure
Chapter 677 - 676: Someone Knocks on the Door
The meal was eaten in silence, with no loud conversation or laughter among them.
It wasn’t about manners; they simply didn’t know what to say.
The conversations were likely to be between Wyatt Sterling and Serena Sullivan, or Serena and Ethan Grant.
"Serena, there’s something Mom wants to ask your opinion on?"
As they almost finished eating, Claire Sullivan gently asked Serena.
Serena looked up at Claire, who was gazing at her expectantly, then glanced at Felix Lockwood beside her, put down her chopsticks and responded, "I have no opinion."
"Uncle Felix,"
Serena addressed Felix, saying, "I just hope you treat her well."
Her mother wanted to remarry; she couldn’t stop her, nor was it possible to do so.
She now had her own family, and Claire couldn’t be alone, nor could she wait for someone forever.
Felix was taken aback by Serena’s words but, after reacting, smiled and nodded, "Yes."
"I also don’t want to waste the rest of my life,"
Destiny came full circle, leading to his divorce and giving him the chance to pursue Claire again; he wouldn’t easily give it up.
"Cough, cough!"
Claire was choked with anger at Serena and Felix’s words, and Felix quickly handed her a glass of water from the table.
Claire took a sip and, after catching her breath, replied, "That’s not what I was asking about."
Giving Felix a chance, she still felt it wouldn’t work.
Although Felix was nice, she had no feelings for him.
Felix wasn’t Joel Quinn; making up her mind meant truly becoming someone’s wife.
"I want to stay in the Imperial Capital to take care of you."
That’s what Claire was asking about.
She could see that Serena wouldn’t be leaving here anytime soon.
So, she decided to stay too.
"Oh!" Serena replied nonchalantly, "It’s up to you."
Having received Serena’s consent, Claire smiled and offered more food to Serena, saying to Ethan Grant, "Ethan, you should eat too."
"Come over for dinner again next week."
She had decided to stay close to her daughter and son and invite them for meals whenever she could.
As for matters of the heart and men, at her age, there was nothing worth fussing over anymore!
Some people are destined not to be together; what’s the use of overthinking it? Maybe one day, as she walks on, she’ll meet someone else she wants to continue with.
Suddenly enlightened, Claire came to terms with everything.
"Knock, knock, knock!"
While they were eating, there was a knock on the door outside.
Those present looked at each other, wondering who it could be.
The Sterling Family?
Or a neighbor?
Wyatt got up to answer the door, and when he turned the doorknob and saw who it was outside, he froze.
"Your father!"
"He’s not here!"
June Kane turned her head at the entrance and saw three pairs of men’s shoes on the shoe rack, one of which was identical to Simon Sterling’s.
After confronting Simon, she had no choice but to sign the divorce papers. In the morning, the butler at The Sterling Residence asked her and Felicity to move out.
She pretended to be sick to try to stay at the Sterling Family home. Even if she and Simon divorced, there was still a chance to turn the tables as long as she remained at The Sterling Residence. By afternoon, the butler relayed Simon’s message again, and she had no choice but
to get up and go to The Sterling Corporation to talk to Simon.
At The Sterling Corporation, she didn’t see Simon, and moreover, learned from others within the corporation that Simon and Wyatt had a private dinner this evening.
Without thinking too much, June Kane guessed this private dinner had something to do with Claire Sullivan. She knew the father and son’s personalities too well; they wouldn’t easily attend a gathering unless it was important, with someone closest to them involved.
She called to find Claire Sullivan’s address, and indeed found Wyatt here.
Since Wyatt was here, Simon was definitely here too.
