Chapter 835: Chapter 835: Giving Her a Bank Card

Julian didn’t say "girlfriend," he directly said "she’s mine" as he introduced her to Mrs. Ford.

His words clearly laid out his attitude toward Finn.

"Chloe, this is Mom." Julian introduced softly to Finn, and Finn followed his lead, smiling at Mrs. Ford. "Mom."

She had spent ages in front of the mirror today just practicing how to smile elegantly.

After she called out, Mrs. Ford froze for a moment, while Finn kept smiling, not feeling that anything was off.

"Sit." Mrs. Ford spoke, her tone faint.

After Julian and Finn came in, her expression stayed the same; you couldn’t tell whether she liked Finn or disliked her.

Only when Finn called her "Mom" did a flicker of surprise appear on her face.

Finn followed Julian with a smile and sat down. Just as she was about to sit, she politely said to Mrs. Ford, "Thank you, Mo..."

The two syllables of "Mom" never made it out completely. Under Mrs. Ford’s cool gaze, Finn suddenly realized what she’d done—how she’d walked in and immediately called her "Mom."

Yikes.

She’d totally embarrassed herself!

Should she correct herself and call her "Auntie" instead?

"Mom, this is the gift Chloe picked out for you." Julian handed over the present Finn had bought to Mrs. Ford, and Mrs. Ford glanced at it and motioned for him to set it aside.

Mrs. Ford’s attitude and her indifferent expression made Finn grow tense; she was really scared Mrs. Ford wouldn’t like her.

Whether she was Chloe Finch or Finn Chandler, neither identity could really be put on display. In terms of family background, she wasn’t a match for Julian at all.

Julian was so perfect; Mrs. Ford would definitely want to find him a better girl. What if she didn’t like her?

Just like Serena—she was still despised by The Grant Family. Mr. Grant had used all kinds of tactics to break her and Ethan Grant up.

Would The Ford Family be the same?

In just an instant, a thousand anxious worries flashed through Finn’s mind.

"Chloe." Julian’s voice pulled Finn back from her thoughts. "What are you thinking about? Mom’s talking to you."

"Ah." Finn snapped back to herself and answered nervously, "Oh."

Her response made the corners of Julian’s lips lift uncontrollably. Just bringing her to meet Mrs. Ford today had made her so nervous she was completely flustered.

"That outfit is really ugly." Mrs. Ford looked at Finn and repeated.

Mrs. Ford was a woman with high standards; otherwise she wouldn’t have given birth to someone as perfect as Julian.

"I’ll change into something else next time."

Finn lowered her head and said, embarrassed.

"I think it looks good." Julian shielded Finn and replied to Mrs. Ford.

"Girls should dress up nicely. Since you’re bringing her to see me, you should at least help her pick out something good-looking to wear."

This... the way she said it made Finn feel weird; why did it sound like she was scolding Julian?

"Yes, that’s my fault." Julian took it on himself and replied with a smile.

"Mm." Mrs. Ford responded. She took a bank card out of her bag, set it on the lazy Susan, and spun it to a stop in front of Finn.

Staring at the bank card, Finn’s heart sank. She knew today’s meeting was going to be awful.

The Ford Family definitely wanted Julian to find a girl of equal status, not someone like her—someone who, to the outside world, was still the Young Master of The Chambers Family.

Mrs. Ford had probably already looked into her background.

A flood of thoughts raced through Finn’s mind. She stood up, picked up the card, and held it toward Mrs. Ford. "I’m sorry, I can’t accept your card."

"I love Julian Ford, and I’m going to marry him."

"I know I’m not good enough, but I’ll work hard. Please give me a chance."

Finn didn’t know how other people handled it when the parents disapproved, but she knew she had to make her feelings clear.
