Chapter 20: The Truth of the World

Mr.Nobody floated in a place that had no shape, no direction, no sense of up or down. It felt like an endless space.

He looked around, confused.

"Where the actual hell am I...?"

His voice echoed strangely, like it wasn’t even real.

Then....

Something appeared.

At first, it was just a distortion. Like space itself bending. Then it took form.

It was thousands of feet tall.

Unimaginably huge.

A towering presence, stretching far beyond what his eyes could fully grasp. It had no face. A massive humanoid body. It’s colour was cosmic latte colour.

Mr.Nobody froze. "Aaaaa!.... what the fuck are you?!"

The being didn’t react to his panic. "Stop acting like a fool. I am a fourth-dimensional entity. You may refer to me as Mr. Guide."

Its voice didn’t come from a direction. It existed everywhere at once.

Mr.Nobody swallowed hard.

"Okay... Mr. Guide... what is this place? And what do you want from me?"

"I am here to inform you. A higher-dimensional entity, far above me, is responsible for the construction of your world."

Mr.Nobody blinked. "Wait... what? I thought I was just an NPC inside a literal webcomic."

"Well, you’re half right," the being replied. "The world you perceive as a webcomic is a reconstruction. It is shaped using references from actual works created in another origin plane, what you might call original Earth."

Mr.Nobody stared. "So... it’s real... but also not real?"

"The world you inhabit is a two-layer pocket dimension."

"Two layers?"

"Yes. The lower layer contains structured narratives. Predefined roles. Faceless individuals. Repeating events. This is where most entities exist as non-autonomous participants."

Mr.Nobody let out a quiet breath. "So... NPCs like me."

"Correct. However, certain anomalies can occur. Some entities develop deviation. They begin to act outside of assigned patterns."

Mr. Nobody’s expression tightened. "You mean....me?"

"Are you a moron! Of course not."

Mr. Nobody chuckled awkwardly," You could have said that more nicely, you know."

Mr.Guide asked Nobody," Haven’t you noticed Toma?"

Nobody went still. "What about her?"

"She is deviating from the intended narrative, plots. Her actions are altering primary plot structures."

Mr. Nobody’s voice dropped.

" Hmm...I noticed that."

"If these deviations escalate beyond acceptable thresholds, the higher entity may intervene."

"Intervene how?"

A brief silence followed.

"Reset. Or erasure."

Nobody’s heart skipped. "What...?"

"If the integrity of the narrative collapses, the entire construct may be rewritten. Or removed by that higher level entity out of anger."

Mr. Nobody clenched his fists. "You’re saying... if something happens to Toma because of me... everything could just... disappear?"

"That is a possibility."

He looked down, his thoughts racing.

Then he forced himself to ask," What about the other layer? The upper layer?"

"The upper layer is closer to a complete reality. Entities there possess full autonomy. No predefined roles. No faceless existence. No scripted repetitions."

Mr. Nobody frowned slightly. "That reminds me... some of the people I fought... they didn’t feel like NPCs."

"They were not. Certain individuals operate beyond lower-layer constraints."

"I also wanted to ask why Toma and others never freaked out seeing me without a face?"

"Plot relevant characters have a filter in their brain that subconsciously makes them imagine a situation appropriate face for the faceless NPCs, so they don’t freak out and it was given by that being. So from their perspective, you have an average face. Even if you get a new face suddenly. In their perspective, it was always your face. So it doesn’t matter much for them even if you suddenly develop a face with the help of your system." Mr.Guide replied.

Then something clicked.

"Wait... the system. The system window! Did you give me that?"

The being paused.

"No. Its origin is unknown. Even to me."

Mr. Nobody blinked. "You’re serious?"

"Yes. That system does not belong to this structured framework. It is an external anomaly."

He let out a small breath. "So I’ve just been using something you don’t even understand..."

"Correct. You should consider yourself fortunate. It has significantly increased your survival probability."

Mr. Nobody gave a dry laugh.

"Yeah... no kidding. Without it, I would have been slenderman toast."

The being’s presence shifted slightly. "You do not have much time."

He stiffened. "What do you mean?"

"You are required to return."

Mr. Nobody’s eyes widened. "Yeah, right, Toma!!!!"

The memory hit him instantly. "Toma!"

"Your lifeline is in immediate danger."

Without another word....

Everything shattered.

The empty space collapsed.

His vision snapped back.

....

Mr. Nobody’s eyes opened slowly.

The grizzly bear was right there.

Moving toward Toma’s unconscious body.

Nobody shouted "...No."

Then....

A crowbar was thrown with great speed at the bear.

It cut through the air and slammed into the bear’s side, forcing it to turn.

Then....

He stood up.

Black blazer.

Pink bunny helmet.

Eyes glowing faint red through the visor.

His deadly voice came out low.

"Hey... grizzly asshole."

The bear growled, turning fully toward him.

"Wanna die?"
