Mr.Nobody: I am inside a webcomic?!
Chapter 31: The Smile Behind Betrayal
After nearly causing the collapse of the banquet dessert section, Mr.Nobody somehow managed to unsummon Blossom Bunny before security started questioning why a chocolate covered rabbit had appeared out of nowhere.
The tiny bunny vanished with one last cheerful: "Attaa ta!"
Nobody wiped sweat from his forehead. "...Never summoning that thing at rich people’s events ever again."
The banquet continued normally after that, though many guests were still whispering about the "mysterious bunny incident." Some even thought it was part of Nathan Industries’ entertainment program.
Nobody quietly moved away from the crowd.
Meanwhile....
Toma had stepped away from the main hall. The loud music and endless formal conversations had started exhausting her. She walked toward the balcony side of the banquet hall where things were quieter. Cool night wind moved softly through the area.
Below, Alkon City glittered with lights.
Toma placed both hands lightly against the railing. "...Finally. Some peace."
From far behind....
Mr.Nobody was secretly following her. Not in a creepy way. At least... according to him. "I’m just making sure she doesn’t get dragged into another dangerous plotline," he whispered to himself. Then he paused."...Wait."
Two voices came from nearby.
Toma heard them too.
There was another balcony section connected through a decorative corridor filled with plants and flower pots. The voices sounded serious, careful and secretive.
Toma slowly moved closer.
Nobody narrowed his eyes from behind.
Near the darker side of the balcony....
Mr.Kuroda stood there calmly.
And beside him....
A man wearing glasses, a formal suit, a tie, Nathan Industries employee badge. It was one of Aiden’s trusted workers. The same employee whom Aiden had proudly introduced earlier. At first, the man still carried his usual decent office-worker expression.
Then....
He gave a dishonest greedy smile. He handed Kuroda a folder. "These are the original financial movement reports from Nathan Industries."
Kuroda opened the documents slowly. His eyes scanned the pages. Then he gave a satisfied smirk. "Excellent."
The employee adjusted his glasses nervously. "With this... your side can expose Nathan’s internal money laundering accusations."
Kuroda chuckled quietly. "Not accusations anymore."
Toma’s eyes widened instantly. "Money laundering? Nathan Industries? Aiden?" Her breathing became uneven.
The employee spoke again. "Once the media receives these documents, Nathan Industries’ stock prices will collapse."
Kuroda’s eyes darkened slightly. "And Aiden Sullivan’s reputation will be destroyed along with it."
Toma covered her mouth slightly in shock. "No way..."
From farther back, Nobody’s expression became serious. "...Damn it."
The employee nervously asked,"But... what about my payment?"
Kuroda slowly handed him a black card. "You’ll receive the remaining amount after tomorrow."
The employee greedily grabbed it. "Pleasure doing business."
Toma clenched her fists. "They’re plotting against Aidi..." She leaned slightly forward trying to hear better.
Then....
Clack!
Her heel lightly hit a decorative plant pot beside her. The sound echoed sharply in the quiet balcony. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
Kuroda instantly turned.
The employee froze. "...Someone’s there."
Toma’s eyes widened. "Oh no..."
Kuroda’s gaze sharpened toward the shadow behind the plants. He could only partially see a silhouette. He saw a shadow of a woman with short bob cut hair. "Who’s there?" he said coldly.
The employee immediately panicked. "Did someone hear us?!"
Toma slowly stepped backward. But before she could move....
Kuroda began walking toward her.
The employee followed nervously.
Nobody muttered under his breath, "...Shit."
Toma turned to leave quietly. But suddenly....A hand grabbed her wrist.
Before she could scream another hand covered her mouth. "Mmph?!" She widened her eyes in shock.
Nobody pulled her quickly behind another corridor. "Quiet!"
Toma struggled for a second before recognizing his voice. "Nobody?!"
He kept her hidden behind the wall as footsteps approached nearby.
Kuroda stopped only a few meters away. His sharp eyes scanned the area. "...I saw someone."
The employee looked terrified. "Who was it?"
Kuroda remained silent for a moment. Then he said,"...A woman." His eyes narrowed slightly. "And judging from the silhouette...it might’ve been Toma."
The employee’s face turned pale. "What?! Miss Toma heard everything?!"
Kuroda’s expression became cold. "It seems so." Then he said quietly,"...A close person of Aiden may soon have to say hello to heaven."
The employee froze,"W-wait...you’re going to kill her?!"
Kuroda looked at him without emotion. "If she speaks, everything is finish. We both will be finish."
The employee swallowed hard.
Kuroda pulled out his phone calmly. "Last time your group failed." His voice became colder. "So call another one....This time, finish the job properly."
From behind the wall.... Toma’s body trembled slightly.
Nobody’s expression darkened. "...This became worse than I thought."
After several moments....
Kuroda and the employee finally walked away.
Only then did Nobody slowly remove his hand from Toma’s mouth. She immediately turned toward him. "What are you doing?!"
Nobody whispered harshly,"I just saved you from getting caught!"
Toma looked shaken but angry,"That doesn’t matter right now! Nobody, they’re planning something against Aiden! I heard everything!"
"I know," Nobody replied. "That’s exactly why this is dangerous."
Toma clenched her fists. "Dangerous or not, I can’t ignore this! Nathan Industries could collapse because of them! Nobody, Aiden trusted that man!"
Nobody sighed deeply. "Toma...you don’t understand."
"No, you don’t understand," she replied immediately. "Aiden may seem arrogant sometimes. But he grew up surrounded by pressure, competition, and corporate wars. He had to become strong because everyone around him expected perfection."
Her voice softened slightly. "But he’s still my friend. I can’t stand here and watch someone destroy him."
Nobody looked frustrated. "I’m not saying ignore it! I’m saying these people are dangerous!"
Toma looked directly into his eyes. "And what? I should stay silent because I’m scared?"
Nobody went quiet.
For a moment....
Neither spoke.
Then Toma stepped away. "I’m going to warn Aiden."
Nobody immediately grabbed her wrist lightly. "Toma, wait. This isn’t a movie plot. These people might actually hurt you."
She looked at him quietly. Then gently pulled her hand away. "...I know you’re worried." Her voice softened. "But I still have to do this."
And then....
She walked away.
Nobody’s chest tightened. "Toma!"
She kept walking. "Nobody, relax. I’ll be careful."
But his danger sense was screaming. "Wait!" His voice rose this time. "It’s risky! Don’t go alone! ..... Toma!"
But she disappeared beyond the hallway corner.
Nobody immediately started following after her.
Then....
A few corridors away, Toma suddenly felt someone grab her arm violently. Before she could react a rough hand covered her mouth tightly. "Mmph?!"
Her eyes widened in terror.
A tall man in black clothes dragged her backward into a darker section of the hallway. "Quiet."
Toma struggled desperately. Fear shot through her entire body.
Meanwhile....
Nobody reached the hallway intersection. "...Toma?" His eyes narrowed slowly. "...Toma where are you?"
A cold blue screen suddenly appeared before Mr.Nobody’s eyes.
