Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 928: No Matter How Old You Are, I’ll Marry You
Evan Sutton remained silent without nodding in agreement, so Hannah Sue continued, "You promised me that after my exams, you’d let me come over to hang out. Besides, I’ll be on a long vacation and can work a summer job there."
Evan Sutton: "You can work a summer job here too."
Hannah Sue: "No, I want to be with you."
Evan Sutton: "I don’t have time to take care of you."
Hannah Sue: "I can take care of myself! I can cook, and I can take care of you. When you come home tired from work, you’ll have a delicious meal ready for you—won’t that make you happy?"
Hearing Hannah say this, Evan Sutton started to imagine such a scenario, which indeed seemed appealing, but he felt it wasn’t practical.
Having a young girl who’s still in school cook and take care of his daily needs all day—it felt wrong to him, like he’s holding up the girl’s precious youth.
Therefore, Evan Sutton refused, saying, "Don’t you know how much trouble you are? If you come over, I won’t be able to rest even after work; I’ll end up worrying about you."
"I promise I won’t be any trouble, really!"
"No."
Hannah Sue looked up in confusion and asked, "Are you trying to avoid me, and that’s why you won’t let me come over? I really want you to be my boyfriend, but if you can’t accept that right now, I’m not in a rush either."
Evan Sutton: "I told you, you should focus on your studies now. Don’t think that the college entrance exam is the end; university has a lot on its plate too. Don’t fill your mind with all kinds of nonsense."
Hannah Sue retorted unhappily, "In university, the school doesn’t care if students fall in love, so why are you so stubborn? Didn’t you have any thoughts about relationships when you were in college?"
Evan Sutton: "People who are not smart enough can’t manage to study properly, yet they want to multi-task in love?"
Hannah Sue pouted, glaring at him, and muttered softly, "But by the time I graduate from college, you’ll be old. I’m just concerned for you, which is why I’m in a hurry."
Upon hearing this, Evan Sutton’s face instantly turned sour, and his tone cooled a bit, "Then find someone young; I never said I’ve been waiting for you."
Realizing Evan Sutton’s tone wasn’t good, Hannah quickly explained, "I didn’t mean it that way; I didn’t mind your age, I..."
"Alright, stop talking. After you finish eating, go home yourself; I have to get back to work."
"Are you really angry?" Hannah Sue hurriedly tried to keep up with Evan’s pace, saying nervously, "I didn’t mean to mock you, I just meant... people in university date, get married, and have kids, so we can speed things up too..."
The more she spoke, the less right it sounded, and Hannah Sue blushed from her own words. She hastily moved away from the topic about kids and stammered, shifting the subject, "...Well, I’ll listen to you then. Anyway, as long as you’re willing to wait for me, graduation is just graduation, and no matter how old you are, I’ll marry you!"
Listening to this, Evan Sutton found himself both amused and touched.
Though such resolute words, Evan didn’t dare to fully believe them, yet he was somewhat moved at the moment.
He could tell, at least right now, Hannah genuinely wanted to commit to a future together.
But she’s still young and hasn’t met many people.
The person she admires now may not be the one she always will.
Therefore, Evan Sutton didn’t want to make promises now, fearing they would become binding for Hannah Sue.
At least wait until she’s seen the world outside, and still wants to stay by his side, before taking those vows seriously.
