Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 934: I Want to Raise It
The car drove through the villa’s main gate and followed the road within the villa area for a while before reaching the door.
Just after entering the villa gate, Miles Sterling, who had seemed somewhat uninterested the whole way, suddenly sat up straight, lowered the car window, and leaned out to look outside.
Gwen Grant noticed his action, immediately slowed down the car, and gently asked, "What’s wrong?"
"Stop the car."
Somewhat puzzled, Gwen slowly pulled the car over to the roadside and stopped.
She then saw Miles Sterling push the door open and step out of the car. From the rearview mirror, Gwen saw Miles squat down at the roadside.
She followed and got out of the car, only to see a black kitten wobbling on the grassy area next to the green belt.
The kitten looked very skinny, its fur covered in dirt, and its face appeared dirty.
Gwen raised her eyebrows slightly in disdain as she saw Miles carefully pick up the small kitten in his hand.
"Miles, don’t touch stray cats; it might carry some virus. Put it down quickly."
Miles stared at the kitten, which was too weak to struggle in his hand, and asked Gwen, "Did we ever have a cat before?"
Gwen was momentarily stunned. Hearing Miles ask this, she figured he might have remembered something, so she replied, "Yes, we did, back in high school. Later, we both went abroad for studies, so we gave it to relatives."
Miles asked again, "Was it also a black cat?"
Gwen didn’t quite understand why Miles asked this and hesitated before nodding, "Yes, black."
Miles looked thoughtfully at the kitten in his hand. Instead of following Gwen’s advice to put the kitten down, he took the kitten into the car, saying, "I want to keep it."
Gwen slightly frowned, seeing Miles rarely show interest in something, she didn’t voice any objection and only said, "Let’s take it to the pet hospital for a checkup after dinner, and also buy some pet supplies."
"Okay."
Gwen sat back in the car, watching from the rearview mirror as Miles placed the dirty kitten on his lap, not the least bit disdainful, and protected it as if he had found a treasure.
The way he looked at the cat was more tender than when he looked at her.
Gwen felt a faint sense of jealousy; Miles’s reaction couldn’t have been out of nowhere.
Perhaps these were things he and Vanessa Sterling had experienced together in the past.
For the next two days, it rained, and Miles didn’t go out with his cane but spent the whole day with the cat.
In Gwen’s heart, this cat seemed like the embodiment of Vanessa Sterling, which she didn’t quite like.
But given that Miles treated this cat like a treasure, she had to act as if she really liked the cat too.
After lunch, Miles was lying on a recliner on the balcony, holding the kitten, looking comfortable and cozy.
Seeing Miles closing his eyes as if to sleep, Gwen walked over with a water cup, gently patted Miles’s arm, and softly said, "Miles, take the medicine and sleep in bed. Today is cold; sleeping here might catch a chill."
Miles lazily opened his eyes and glanced at the medicine Gwen handed over but didn’t reach for it, saying, "This medicine has no effect."
Gwen chuckled softly and said, "Dr. Linton said it’s not a matter of three or five days; taking it long-term will help you recover your memory."
Miles adjusted the blanket on his legs, leaned back in the chair, closed his eyes again, and said, "I don’t trust that Dr. Linton, don’t ask her to come over anymore."
