Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 935: An Unsolved Knot
Upon hearing Miles Sterling’s words, Gwen Grant was taken aback, thinking that Miles had already discovered something wrong with the medication.
But seeing that Miles Sterling didn’t have a particularly angry reaction, Gwen continued, "We have a few more courses of this medication at home. If there’s no improvement after finishing these, shall we see another doctor?"
With slight impatience, Miles Sterling opened his eyes, as if he didn’t want Gwen to keep nagging. Only then did he take the pills and the cup of water, throwing his head back to swallow the medication with the water.
Seeing Miles Sterling take the medicine, Gwen Grant breathed a slight sigh of relief, at least certain that Miles hadn’t noticed anything wrong with the medication.
Dr. Linton said that this medication would need to be taken long-term, just not as frequently as now.
Once the medication at home runs out, later on, mix it in with his food, so Miles takes it without noticing a thing.
"Miles, I have to go to the office this afternoon. Just rest well at home, and if it doesn’t rain tonight, shall we go out for dinner?"
Miles Sterling gave a perfunctory "Mm," leaned back, and closed his eyes while lying on the chair.
Seeing that Miles Sterling didn’t seem to want to be disturbed, Gwen Grant took a deep breath, quietly walked back to the living room with the water cup, tidied up the dining table, and went out the door.
Miles Sterling lay on the chair, listening to the rain outside, and fell asleep.
The kitten woke up from Miles Sterling’s embrace, clumsily climbed down the thin blanket wrapped around Miles, and started playing by itself on the carpet.
Miles briefly glanced at it, letting the kitten amuse itself, then adjusted the blanket on him and closed his eyes again.
After playing for over half an hour, when the kitten wanted to sleep again, it tried to clamber back up along the thin blanket.
Miles Sterling woke up to find the little kitten struggling and reached out to scoop it up, placing it back in his arms.
The rain outside seemed to have stopped, leaving the ground wet and raindrops hanging from the trees, occasionally falling with the breeze.
Staring at the little black cat in his arms, a memory flashed in his mind.
It was a rainy day like this, a girl curled up on the sofa, a small black cat resting by her leg...
Miles Sterling suddenly froze, realizing that the memory he recalled only showed the girl’s silhouette.
Gwen said they once had a black cat together, so was the girl in his memory Gwen?
But as quickly as the image appeared, it vanished, leaving Miles trying to remember more but finding his mind blank.
Yet, for some reason, he always felt that the girl who kept appearing in his memory lately wasn’t Gwen.
Because when he saw Gwen, there wasn’t that sense of familiarity.
According to Gwen, they’ve been together for many years and deeply in love, so there shouldn’t be any other girl in his life. But who is the face that keeps appearing in his memories?
Miles Sterling picked up the cat in his arms, got up, walked back to the living room, and gently placed the cat on the sofa. He took the cane leaning by the entrance and went out the door. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
He didn’t know where he should go, but he felt he should keep searching.
It was like a knot in his heart, continuously troubling him.
He wished he could return to that evening, when he saw that girl at the amusement park, and just go up to ask for her name at least.
Then he wouldn’t have to search like looking for a needle in a haystack.
