Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 937: The Person Who Had a Major Influence on Him
The clerk handed over several puzzles that Miles Sterling had bought before, and Miles looked at them. They were mostly landscape paintings.
But he didn’t remember ever assembling such puzzles before. Could it be that he bought them for Gwen?
However, Gwen prefers European-style court oil paintings. The few paintings hanging at home are all of the same style, without any landscape scenes like those in the puzzles. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
There seemed to always be an intuition inside him, making him think that apart from the people he knows at present, there was someone else who had greatly influenced his past.
Yet neither Gwen nor those people whom he called family had ever told him anything about that person.
Was it just his misconception, or was everyone intentionally keeping it from him?
Miles suddenly developed a distrust towards the close people around him.
Looking at those puzzles, Miles hadn’t regained any relevant memories from them yet.
In the end, he bought all the sets of puzzles, wondering if they were originally bought for himself.
When he returned to try assembling them, maybe they’d jog his memory.
As he walked out of the store, it started raining again outside, so Miles directly instructed the driver to take him home.
Gwen, who initially planned to go out for dinner, called Miles and upon learning that Miles didn’t plan to eat out, decided to go to the supermarket to buy groceries and cook at home.
When she reached the fruits and vegetables section, she suddenly saw a girl pushing a shopping cart towards her.
It was none other than Vanessa Sterling.
Gwen was startled for a moment and then felt relieved that Miles wasn’t with her.
Vanessa realized later that Gwen was there too, and feeling awkward since she knew Gwen didn’t like her, she chose not to greet and instead immediately pushed her cart in another direction.
Gwen withdrew her gaze, placed the apple in her shopping bag, and thought to herself, seems like I should choose a different supermarket next time.
"Miles, I’m back," Gwen said as she closed her umbrella and stood in the entryway, calling into the house.
Not receiving a response from Miles, Gwen curiously peered into the house but didn’t see any trace of Miles in the living room.
Gwen changed her shoes and headed straight upstairs, seeing that Miles’s door was tightly shut. She raised her hand and knocked: "Miles?"
There was still no response from inside. Gwen tried turning the door lock and found it wasn’t locked.
She pushed the door open and saw Miles sitting at the table near the window, focused on something.
Curious, Gwen walked over and saw a pile of puzzle pieces on the table, with Miles holding one piece up against where the puzzle had been started on the table.
"When did you start liking these things? Did Dr. Linton suggest it?"
Miles turned to glance at Gwen and asked, "I didn’t like these before?"
Gwen paused, shook her head, and said, "I’ve never seen you play with these things."
"What about you?"
"Me?" Gwen was slightly surprised, feeling like Miles was probing for something.
She thought for a while and smiled, "I am quite interested in puzzles, it’s just that I haven’t had much time for them. Looks like this is a pretty big puzzle you’ve got here. Can you finish it in a week?"
"I don’t know." Miles suddenly seemed a bit uninterested, and his thoughts became more complicated.
He believed the clerk truly recognized him and that he had indeed bought these in the past.
But since Gwen mentioned they never played with puzzles before, then who were these puzzles bought for?
