Mr. Warner, Your Wife is Running Away Again!
Chapter 950: I Have My Own Judgment
Quentin Sterling pondered for a moment and then simply said to Miles Sterling, "Her full name is Vanessa Sterling. She used to be a part of this family."
Upon hearing the name, Miles Sterling belatedly realized, "...Is she my sister?"
"Something like that. The past doesn’t matter, and it’s okay if you can’t remember. You just need to know that she wasn’t happy living here before. Now she has her own new life, so don’t disturb her. You’ve gotten married; Gwen is a good girl, so just live well with Gwen."
At the mention of Gwen Grant, Miles Sterling frowned and said discontentedly, "She deceived me. When I lost my memory and trusted her the most, everything she told me was a web of lies she fabricated."
Quentin Sterling said, "Perhaps she just wanted to make this marriage work and spun some benevolent lies. When you were unconscious in the hospital, she was there almost every day with you. It’s clear she truly cared about you, so don’t let this cause conflict between you."
Miles Sterling ignored the advice, laid down his cutlery, and left half-eaten food on the plate. As he walked upstairs, he said, "Even if you speak for her now, it won’t matter because I won’t fully believe what you say either. I have my own judgment. Whether to continue this marriage or not, I’ll decide once I remember everything. Until I recover my memory, all of you could be lying to me."
Quentin Sterling watched Miles Sterling’s departing back, thinking that Miles’ decision seemed relatively calm and rational.
It’s indeed difficult to trust someone who has deceived you about the past when you know nothing of it.
However, it had been such a long time since he regained consciousness, yet he hadn’t recalled anything.
The longer it takes, the harder it might be to trigger him to remember the past. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
At least now, he’s willing to think about things rationally rather than impulsively and recklessly, without consideration for others.
Back in his room, Miles Sterling earnestly reflected on Quentin Sterling’s words.
Just as he found a clue about Vanessa, should he cut off this thread?
He wanted to use Vanessa to regain his past memories, but seeing the fear in Vanessa’s expression and hearing Quentin Sterling, an outsider, advising him not to disturb her, should he continue?
Even though Quentin Sterling said the past doesn’t matter if he can’t remember, his words only made Miles more curious about the past.
Miles Sterling lay in bed, troubled, staring at the ceiling.
Amidst his frustration, he suddenly thought that besides Vanessa, there’s another woman who looks very much like her — a woman who seems to know a lot too...
In the afternoon, after Wendy Jennings went out, Miles Sterling left his house alone and went to Cynthia Ramsey’s home.
When the doorbell rang, Cynthia Ramsey was at the entryway preparing to leave.
Cynthia Ramsey opened the door and appeared somewhat surprised to see Miles Sterling standing outside. "You’re here again? Didn’t you find that girl?"
"I have some more questions for you."
Cynthia Ramsey glanced at her watch and, while putting on her high heels, said, "I’m heading to the filming location. Do you want to come later or wait inside until I get back?"
Miles Sterling paused and said, "Where to? I’ll go with you."
Cynthia Ramsey smiled thoughtfully, picked up the car keys from the entryway, and said, "Then let’s go."
