Chapter 799
Chapter 799
Anton, Captain Joraniah, and his teammates were near one of the secret doors on the western wall of the city. The plan was for Anton to cast his Cloak of Shadow spell before they all stepped outside the city. With the dark, they would be hidden from the eyes of the undead attackers.
Captain Joraniah and the other team members tested Anton’s Cloak of Shadow thoroughly. They tested it using different forms of sight spells, like ones that could detect mana signature, heat signature, life signature, and more, and they were all delighted that none of those were able to pierce the spell. Aruma, one of the men in the team, theorized that it was because the spell was created using a different form of mana structure.
Tamor was correct, of course, since Anton’s magic came from his Diablo System, which was unknown to the wizards of this world. The area of effect of the Cloak of Shadow was huge, and another advantage the spell offered was that Anton’s party members could see clearly, as if it were daytime within the spell’s coverage.
Not only that, Anton could detect anything that entered the area of effect of the spell, which meant that if something entered the spell’s covered area, Anton would know immediately. The affected beings would be blinded by the spell, but Anton and the other members would be able to see them clearly.
What Anton didn’t know was that the Captain and Sudarta were already planning combat tactics based on the Cloak of Shadow spell.
Once they were outside the walls and remained undetected as expected, the journey to the fallen town that the Undead Coalition planned to create a base with a gate would take around two hours of fast flight. Since Anton’s team members were composed of Supreme Rank Wizards, the flight to that place would not be an issue.
While they were flying, the captain flew near Anton.
“Anton, based on the report that contained information about your abilities, it stated that you’re also an accomplished enchanter. Can you create an item that will allow us to utilize the Cloak of Shadow spell?” Captain Joraniah asked.
“I could, but it would not be as effective as the spell I cast myself. The limitation of the spells in my enchantments is based on the materials that I used to create them. So far, the most expensive and effective material that I’ve used was gold, and it only allowed me to create a spell that has only a tenth of the spell’s original power.”
“So if you use powerful materials, you can increase the spell that you can attach to the item?”
“I’m not sure. I will have to experiment. If you’re planning to let me test it out, I will, but prepare for me to waste a lot of materials.”
“That’s fine. This is the time to use the magic materials that the wizards had hoarded over the years. Once we’ve defeated the Coalition, we can gather those materials again,” The captain said.
Anton understood why the captain firmly believed that they would win. It was because they had no choice. If they lost, that meant that they were killed or had become undead slaves, and that was something that everyone in the team wouldn’t allow to happen, no matter what it took.
The other team members also flew near Anton, and Sudarta asked what other items Anton could make.
“You’ve seen almost all of my spells. As long as the material can support it, I can enchant any of my spell to an item. It would take time, though, and I don’t know exactly how much time it would take.”
“If that’s the case, during our downtime, I’ll assign you to create items that would assist us in our mission, like attaching the Cloak of Shadow spell to an item or one of your powerful aura spells,” the captain said, and Anton nodded.
After that, they concentrated on flying to the mission location. They stopped a few miles near the town where the portal was being created. Based on the report, there were around eight supreme rank undead guarding the base. Since Mishos was the expert in stealth in their team, he would scout the town first. Once Mishos returned and reported the location of the most powerful undead, the team would attack, still covered by the Cloak of Shadow Spell.
Captain Joraniah asked Anton to summon his Shadow Master, Shadow Warrior, and Valkyrie summons, since those three powerful summons were capable of following instructions and would add power to their team.
After Mishos returned, their stealthy team member reported that the eight supreme rank undead, three of which were liches, two were wraiths, and three were vampires, were located in different parts of the town. Mishos told them that the separation was probably necessary for the undead to avoid conflicts between them. This made the captain happy.
Their plan was simple: all of them, under the cover of the Cloak of Shadow spell, would attack the liches first since they were located the farthest from the center and could be attacked without the others noticing them as long as the plan to isolate the place where the liches were located was followed to the letter.
The plan was that Sudarta and Helena would form a two-part spell that would block sound and surround the area in a fog of confusion. The sight would also be blocked, but it would be the work of Anton’s Cloak of Shadow spell.
They would then focus fire on the liches one by one until the three liches were destroyed. Anton felt that it wouldn’t be that simple. Supreme Rank beings were truly capable, and more than likely, the other undead creatures would be notified immediately, despite all the preparation they were making.
When Anton whispered that to Aruma, the wizard told him that everyone knew that. Even if the others were notified and convened to fight it out with them, the captain was hoping that before the other undead gathered, they would be able to destroy one or two of the liches.
Anton noticed that his teammates did not take note of any beings under the Supreme Rank. Since the Cloak of Shadow was more effective during nighttime, they did not tarry anymore and proceeded to go to where the liches were located. The moment they entered the location of the liches, Helena and Sudarta immediately cast their two-part spell, and the area was isolated. The good thing about the second part of their spell, which was the fog of confusion, it was unnoticeable because the whole town was covered in fog already.
The Cloak of Shadows became larger since Anton’s Shadow Master and Shadow Warrior also cast the Cloak of Shadows spell. Once the captain had given his signal, everyone started attacking the liches.
Anton was assigned to fight off the two other liches to prevent them from helping the third one while all his other team members, including all of Anton’s summons, focused fire on one of the liches in the hopes of destroying it as soon as possible. All sorts of spells started flying around, and the captain and Anton’s team members were extremely delighted that the liches were confused because of the Cloak of Shadows spells; the undead liches could not see their attackers.
The lich that was receiving the focused fire from Anton’s team became desperate. It was unable to cast any spells other than defensive spells. Anton was able to engage the other two liches and expertly used his Teleport spell to confuse the other two liches to make it seem that they were being attacked from multiple sides.
