My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 584 - 585: Just You Wait
"How can you gamble with your own life?" The old man’s face was gloomy. "Who knows when he might have an attack."
"Don’t worry, Grandpa. You have doctors here, and I have them on my end too. I’ll have the doctor keep an eye on his condition, and if anything unusual happens, I’ll definitely keep some distance from him immediately."
Melody Thorne was trying to reassure the old man.
Clara Seymour and Stella Seymour were watching Melody with sudden jealousy in their eyes. All this talk about the first and second in line had become mere formalities since Melody arrived. How could they bear such favoritism from the old man?
"Grandpa, I’m not convinced." Clara was the first to step forward.
Everyone in the hall looked at her.
"She chose her own man, and she just arrived at the Seymour family without having done anything. Why does she get all the positions as soon as she comes?"
Clara’s words found agreement among everyone in the hall. In their eyes, Melody really had no significant abilities.
"What are you unconvinced about? If it were you up there, I would be the first to object," Melody smirked. "How can a woman as jealous as you manage the entire Seymour Family?" 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"You... I just said I’m not convinced. I’m not jealous of you; you’re making wild guesses."
"Really?" But right now, your face says it all, clearly showing your jealousy of me. Oh, and there are rules in the Seymour family, right? Subordinates mustn’t express dissatisfaction with the old man’s designated heir; they can only obey."
Melody smiled innocuously. Initially, she couldn’t stand the Seymour family’s rules, but the more she saw, the more interesting she found it. Here, the first in line was the greatest, no further reason needed, and no one was allowed to challenge that.
"You," Clara’s eyes turned red with rage, wishing she could strangle her. Just wait and see.
"Grandpa, we want to return home," Melody spoke up, "but I’ll visit you often."
Her words made the old man happy for a second, only to see his face turn sour the next. "How can you go back in such a situation?"
Absolutely out of the question.
Melody had predicted the old man wouldn’t agree, so she continued to dig a hole while speaking. "But if we stay here, Jared needs to stay in a hotel while I live here, and I think that’s inconvenient, so we might as well just go back."
The old man glanced at her. "Let him stay here for the time being. If he can control his condition, then you two will take over the Seymour family. If he can’t control it, then let him go back alone!"
Melody pretended to think it over with difficulty. "Alright then."
"Then we’ll head back to our room."
"Wait," the old man, looking a bit unnatural, pointed at Timmy, "let this boy stay."
At this moment, Timmy was lounging around when he suddenly saw the old man’s gaze land on him. He snorted. "Fine, fine, I’ll stay with you for a while. I know old people generally need company."
The old man’s face turned even more sullen.
Jared and Melody walked out of the hall towards their quarters, with several pairs of malicious eyes staring intently at them, especially one person in the shadows. The hundred-year-old prophecy of the Seymour family must not be broken.
He said Melody Thorne would die, and she certainly would, for no reason.
