Chapter 257

Bursting out from directly behind her the next second, its scythes sliced toward Trisha with deadly speed.

As if she possessed another pair of eyes behind her head, the girl vaulted forward with blazing velocity, the assistance of her boots allowing her to avoid the blades in the nick of time.

The weapon of destruction sliced through the empty air harmlessly.

The exact second her feet touched the ground, Trisha spun around and launched a dozen sharp ice spikes, which sped toward the monster with rapid momentum.

Lifting its scythes in front of its face, the creature shielded itself as the shards crashed into the armor with solid force, pushing the spider back a few inches.

The barrage ceased, and the beast swung its limbs outwardly in a panicked arc.

However, nobody was there to receive the blow; the scythes merely ripped through the air. Behind the creature, Trisha stood poised.

With a precise slash of her sword—which was heavily coated in frost—she hacked through the exposed joints holding its frame together.

She met a slight resistance against the tough hide, but by exerting more pressure, she was able to rip through the tissue, sending the beast’s severed limbs flying through the air.

The spider crashed hard against the earth, kicking up a small cloud of dust.

Vaulting into the sky like a straight arrow, Trisha allowed herself to hover for a brief second before spinning back around and launching herself downward toward the spider, which was struggling hard to rise but failed due to its lost limbs.

Trisha’s sword gleamed with a dangerously cold, blue light before slamming directly into the core connection holding the beast’s head together.

Putting all her strength into the execution, she ripped through the anatomy, successfully slicing the beast’s head clean off while small shards of ice shattered into the atmosphere.

The spider’s head rolled across the concrete for a second before coming to a halt as its body crashed into the earth, completely lifeless.

Trisha stood to her full height without an ounce of sweat on her temples, scanning the chaotic battlefield with an icy stare.

Tapping her ear, she listened closely as a transmission came through.

— Aspirant Trisha. There’s a beast inside one of the skyscrapers, and several civilians are trapped within the structure.

The voice paused for a brief moment before continuing.

— Can you reach that sector in time?

"Location?" she demanded simply.

— Directly south of your position.

"Okay."

Spinning around, her boots activated instantly.

With a powerful leap, she vaulted into the air and rocketed toward the building where the trapped civilians were waiting.

....

Meanwhile, after witnessing Kai’s crystal daggers bounce harmlessly off its armor, the spider had retaliated.

Its jagged scythe sliced toward the Aspirant’s flank with blinding speed.

However,

Clang—!

The scythe merely bounced off his side, which was now heavily coated with a thick layer of defensive crystals.

Pushing forward under the spider’s confused gaze, Kai swung his hands forward as a thick crystalline pillar burst from the ground with rapid velocity.

It smashed into the spider with crushing weight, sending it lurching uncontrollably backward while its remaining talons struggled to find a good anchoring spot to halt its momentum.

Kai bolted forward, leaping into the air above the flailing beast.

He held his hands together, a confident smile playing on his lips.

A pair of crystal saws materialized around his hands as he dove back down with a fluid spin of his body.

Within a split second, he crashed into the beast’s armored head.

His hands slashed forward in a blur; within moments, he cut clean through the joints connecting the beast’s head to its torso.

In one fluid motion, the head went flying into the air.

Without a pause in his momentum, Kai darted toward the projectile, reaching the severed head before it could even touch the ground.

Twirling around, he buried his toes into the mass, sending it flying away with a low bang.

Within a beat, the flying head collided with another spider that had just climbed the wall of a nearby building.

The sheer velocity of the impact clobbered into the climbing spider’s head, disorienting it for a crucial split second.

That brief window was more than enough for a few Iron Corps members to open rapid fire on its limbs, forcing the creature to lose its grip on the building facade and crash heavily into the earth.

Beep—!

— Aspirant Kai. You are getting far too close to the perimeter. Be careful, because if you get within a one-meter radius of the gate, you could be in extreme danger when the boss unexpectedly emerges.

"Roger that," Kai nodded.

He quickly vaulted away from the hazard zone to continue fighting elsewhere.

.....

Caster was currently using his overwhelming speed to confuse the Advanced-rank beasts.

He was facing off against two of them on his own, and with his blinding agility, he was only leaving blurs in his wake while the beasts sliced through them confusedly, thinking they were human.

Sliding under the scythe of one of the creatures, his short sword jabbed forward, sliding off the spider’s underbelly.

’Hm. No soft spot there.’

He vaulted into the air just in time as a pair of talons crashed into the space he had just occupied, cracking through the solid concrete.

Whirling around, he pounced toward the second beast with a blur of speed and then stabbed his short sword into its crimson eyes.

The spider let out a loud screech of pain before erratically swinging its scythes all around like a blind man.

Though it was only one out of the many eyes it possessed that was damaged, it was in immense pain.

Of course, Caster avoided each and every swing with a large margin.

Then, vaulting directly above the spider, he caught sight of the veins stitching parts of the body together.

"Bingo."

He dove back down with rapid velocity and then sliced through the veins holding the head together.

His sword was able to rip through because, of course, the weapon was of the same rank as the beast.

Twirling around, he lifted his blades in time as a scythe from the second spider crashed into them.

Clang—!

The force of the clash sent him sliding backward with a frown on his face.

Parrying the scythe to the side, a second limb flew toward his head, but he immediately ducked under the slash before leaping toward the spider.

Four of its talons darted toward his head.

He sidestepped immediately before leaping toward the monster and slicing through the tendons holding its neck together, with black ichor spraying through the air.
