My Tribrid System: More than a Monster
Chapter 260: Not Now
Chapter 258 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
Felix wasn’t wasting time one bit.
He was busy showing exactly why he was a werewolf on the field.
However, he was careful not to reveal too much of his true power, as his sharp perception easily caught the mechanical drones hovering around the area.
He didn’t want his full abilities exposed so soon or risk being taken into questioning by the authorities—lest he be forced to silence them to protect his identity.
Sliding under the sharp scythes of one of the monsters, he appeared directly behind it before smashing his fist into the creature’s spiked backside.
The jagged armor tore through his knuckles, but he merely smiled as the sheer force of the punch sent the Carapace Spider flying into a small mall.
It collided hard with the entrance, instantly turning the glass doors into a cascading rain of shards.
Twirling while leaping backward, Felix avoided a second spider that crashed into the exact spot he had occupied just a second ago.
Its limbs ripped through the concrete before the creature bolted toward him with impressive speed, its sharp talons and scythes lashing forward from multiple angles in quick succession.
Felix smirked, weaving in between the strikes as if it were nothing.
’Oh, come on. I have fought a bunch of Advanced-rank beasts and recently survived a King-rank monster. What can you possibly do to me?’
The lethal slashes rushed past his face, missing by mere inches.
Dodging one final strike, he twisted his foot against the pavement, positioning himself firmly while letting raw energy flood his veins.
For a brief moment, his eyes flashed a brilliant yellow.
Bang—!
A deafening sound cut through the chaos of the battlefield as Felix suddenly closed the distance between himself and the beast in a flash.
It wasn’t mere speed; the movement resembled pure teleportation.
With just one twitch of his muscles, he was directly above the creature with his leg cocked backward.
With explosive force, he launched his leg forward, sending his heel crashing into the beast’s spiked torso.
The natural armor drove into his flesh, but it seemed like he didn’t mind the pain at all.
The sheer momentum of the kick drove the spider into the ground with crushing force, kicking cracked concrete into the air as the monster let out a pained screech.
The creature was frantically letting out the agonizing sound as the dust slowly began to settle.
Before the haze could fully clear, the werewolf swung his hands through the air, unleashing straight lines of sharp, obsidian energy that crashed into the veiny sinews holding the creature’s limbs and head together.
The dark slashes tore through the vital points, decapitating the beast completely.
Its lifeless body rolled across the terrain for a moment as the dust proceeded to clear, only for Felix’s eyes to stretch wide in shock.
Converging all around his position were about—one... three... four... six spiders that instantly launched themselves toward him.
’Wait! That screech was a call for backup?’
His eyes widened in sudden realization as he turned to glare at the dead beast with a frown of utter disdain.
’You son of a bea—’
Before he could even complete his thought, a dozen razor-sharp scythes tore through the air, rocketing toward his position with rapid velocity.
...
Berg wasn’t slowing down.
After taking down the first beast that pulled him into the conflict, he had successfully neutralized one more.
Currently, he was pausing to look upward with a deep frown on his face.
The specific spot he was glaring at was atop a building where Ray could be seen surrounded by two spiders.
Surprisingly, the silver-haired boy was holding his ground against both of them simultaneously.
’Damn it! Damn it! How is he so lucky to be able to dodge all the strikes from two freaking Advanced-rank beasts?! First, he somehow survived an encounter with a King-rank beast, and now he is taking down Advanced-rank monsters with ease?
Wasn’t he struggling against them back on Planet Palatine? He had to constantly enlist the help of his nerdy friend just to deal with them, and now, he is handling them so effortlessly?’
A thick vein bulged across Berg’s temples as he scowled at the sight.
Turning his head around, however, he noticed the supposed nerdy friend supporting the battlefield from a distance, utilizing strange arm cannons that had suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
What exactly was going on with these two?
Weren’t they supposed to be weak-grade humans with absolutely no abilities?
’No. Ever since the day we fought, I have noticed that he isn’t an ordinary human. He has been pretending to be weak all along.’
Balling his hands at his sides, flames erupted around his limbs, crackling with vengeful force as he cast a quick, calculated look at the building Ray was fighting atop.
The structure was entirely fronted with glass; anything substantial that happened to the foundation could cause the skyscraper to topple to the ground in a devastating rain of shards.
’And will you look at that! The building is surprisingly a massive skyscraper. Ha!’
A loud, piercing screech drew his attention back to his immediate surroundings as a pair of jagged scythes flew toward his face.
With blazing speed, the Legacy descendant was able to leap away, thereby avoiding the blades.
He then proceeded to vault above the spider for a second before landing directly behind its blind spot.
His gaze locked onto Ray’s distant figure for a split second before the spider beneath him whirled around, executing a powerful slash toward his head.
Ducking under the lethal strike, Berg placed his open palms against the beast’s soft underbelly.
Flames burst out in a loud, furious howl, followed immediately by an explosion that blasted the spider across the terrain, a trail of dark fluids rolling after it.
The creature plowed through a few burning cars, ripping through the metal and sending the vehicles scattering in all directions.
The Aspirant stood up straight while lifting his gaze to spot the mechanical drones fluttering around the city like a bunch of annoying flies.
’Not now. Certainly not here. But soon. Anytime soon...’
Snorting in disdain, the Aspirant swung his hands behind his back.
A burst of fire propelled him forward and away from his previous position while the sounds of battle continued to rage on with fierce intensity.
He cut past the other fighting Aspirants and members of the Iron Corps with surprising velocity, searching for his next target.
