Chapter 1898: Chapter 1735: Indifferent

When the Wenga Dynasty received this ultimatum, a Grand Assembly was being held. At the time, emotions and energy ran high, with many clamoring to kill the envoy from the Kushan Empire who had come to deliver orders. However, it was just talk, and no one dared to take action.

Seeing the fervor of the crowd, the King of Wenga thought the popular will could be used, but when he saw that no one dared to act, he felt as if his heart had turned to ashes.

The King of Wenga did not want to dissolve his nation, nor did he want it to become a battlefield. Yet with a single command from the Kushan Empire, he had no choice left. He wished to fight to the death against the Kushan Empire, but his ministers...

Looking at the civil officials and military generals who were viciously cursing the Kushan envoy, the Wenga King felt his heart becoming lifeless. Even though emotions ran high, no one dared lay a hand on any envoy from the Kushan Empire. How could Wenga ever feel confident in battling to the death?

"We shall relocate." The not-so-loud voice of the King of Wenga halted all the civil and military officials of Wenga at that moment. He truly felt lifeless; all his aspirations vanished into smoke with that utterance.

"No, Your Majesty!" A civil official immediately knelt and shouted repeatedly at the King of Wenga, "Our Wenga has been established for over a hundred years. Seven generations of the Late Emperor expanded our territory and borders. How can we relocate because of a mere command? This is the ancestral land of our Wenga!"

"Foolish King!" A civil official jumped out and angrily rebuked the King of Wenga, turning the once solemn Grand Assembly into a farce.

"Your Majesty, you cannot! They want to turn our ancestral land into a battlefield. How can we tolerate this? The spirits of the seven generations of Late Emperors are watching you from the skies." One by one, civil officials came forth to angrily denounce the King of Wenga for making such a choice.

At that moment, the King of Wenga’s eyes became misty, and the angry shouts of the civil officials faded into the distance. His strength gradually left his body, and Essence, Qi, and Spirit were all lost.

The King of Wenga, who was in his thirties and at the peak of his youth and strength, suddenly seemed like a person nearing seventy. Yet, from some unknown place came a surge of Qi power, and with his right hand, he forcefully drew the sword from his waist and threw it forward.

"Since you say it is impossible, then take my sword and kill the envoy, and let’s fight them!" The King of Wenga roared, as if this were a flash of revival.

Instantly, the Grand Assembly, which had resembled a market, fell silent. Earlier, those who angrily denounced the King of Wenga as a foolish king, and those who cursed him to assert their correctness, all fell silent.

"Hahaha, these are the civil officials of our Wenga Dynasty, these..." The King of Wenga laughed wildly at the sky, completely disregarding the Kushan envoy standing in the court.

The Kushan Envoy looked mockingly at Wenga’s civil servants. With such ministers occupying high positions, how could Wenga ever expand?

"Ugh..." The King of Wenga laughed recklessly, and as a mouthful of blood spurted out, he slowly collapsed, closing his dim eyes while the civil and military officials of Wenga stood by, watching indifferently as the King of Wenga died.

The faint scent of blood in the assembly made all the ministers of Wenga bow their heads, no longer looking at the man on the throne. Meanwhile, the sword thrown by the King of Wenga stood embedded in the ground, slowly ceasing its vibration.

"Well, since the King of Wenga does not want to dissolve the country, now it’s your turn." The Kushan envoy said, scanning all the civil and military officials present.

"How could this be? His Majesty just agreed to relocate..." The National Chancellor of Wenga immediately spoke up, and others followed his lead.

"Record this: His Majesty, the Emperor of the Wenga Dynasty, swore to resist our army’s efforts to dissolve the Wenga Kingdom, and died in the capital. His civil and military officials were indifferent." The Kushan envoy instructed the scribe beside him, saying this will be recorded in history as the definitive conclusion for the entire dynasty.

The civil and military officials at the Grand Assembly of Wenga were pale and trembling. They had previously rebuked the foolish king to preserve their own good names, letting the Emperor take the blame. But now, the Kushan has sealed the fate of the final Emperor of the Wenga Dynasty.

"Now it’s your turn to decide whether you agree to dissolve the Wenga Dynasty." The Kushan envoy coldly stared at all the courtiers of Wenga, mockery written across his face.

At that moment, the entire court was filled with lamenting cries, while the Kushan envoy stood amidst them, coldly smiling at the sight of everyone sobbing.

"It seems you disagree. In three days our army will personally come." The Kushan envoy swirled his cloak and turned to leave, stepping out of the hall against a backdrop of irritating cries. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"Hmph, Wenga Dynasty, truly disgusting." The Kushan envoy coldly sneered as he glanced back at the Wenga Royal Palace once outside, knowing full well what kind of ministers they were.

After the Kushan envoy departed, the entire Wenga court descended into chaos. The civil and military officials completely ignored the King of Wenga who had already died on the throne, engaging in a brawl in the hall, trying to shirk responsibility, as nobody wanted to bear the blame and disgrace for eternity.

Ultimately, with the dead King of Wenga unable to defend himself, the blame was laid upon him by the historians recording history, while the civil and military officials present that day no longer needed to worry about being remembered in infamy; all the blame was now on the King of Wenga.

A day later, the Wenga Dynasty dissolved, the last emperor of the Wenga Dynasty was hastily buried, and the dynasty that had existed for over a century vanished from history.

In later times, the records in both sides’ annals starkly contradicted each other regarding this event. The history books of the Kushan Region claimed the King of Wenga resisted to the death and died in the capital of the Wenga Kingdom, with the ministers indifferent.

However, the annals of the Wenga Region documented that the King of Wenga, intimidated by the Kushan Empire’s might, ordered the dissolution of the Wenga Kingdom, while civil and military officials protested, the king led the betrayal, civil and military officials fought valiantly for the nation but ultimately were defeated, and the treacherous king also met a grim fate, executed after the Kushan Empire conquered Wenga.

These two starkly contrasting accounts are rather intriguing, often leading to disputes over them.

Meanwhile, after receiving the battle brief, Li Xin immediately rushed towards the east, but after only two days of travel, he encountered the Han Army.

"Minister Li, you’re back. Assistant Officer Zhang and the others are waiting for you." Ling Bao said, clasping his fist as Li Xin’s entourage returned.

"Why have we relocated here?" Li Xin asked in confusion.

"Assistant Officer Zhang was concerned about the Kushan Empire using a strategy of tiring out the army, so he preemptively moved us to advance eastward to avoid loss of combat power due to marching, ensuring we wouldn’t be unexpectedly defeated by Kushan." Ling Bao said with a smile, "Minister Li, better hurry to the central camp; Assistant Officer Zhang has been waiting for several days."

"Alright, I’ll head there immediately." Li Xin clasped his fists in respect, knowing there could be no delay, and immediately rode towards the central camp. On the way, he saw that the soldiers appeared noticeably different from before, seemingly more robust and fierce without any apparent reason.
