30 Days of Passion and Revenge-Chapter 190: Kiss Me, Lily
Even Ethan’s simple question came off as arrogant and domineering as if he were invincible despite being an injured man on the verge of collapse.
Lily looked at him, seeing his weakness while still trying to hold himself together. Tears fell uncontrollably from her eyes.
Sometimes, she really didn’t understand his thinking. At a time like this, he was still asking such a question. His behavior was always so extreme, so terrifying... He didn’t even care about his own body.
"I asked if you love me?!" Not hearing her answer, Ethan pressed again, his voice filled with relentless determination. "Is it because you love me that you’re staying?!"
He needed an answer today.
He wanted her to stay willingly, never leave again, and to have all of his love.
He would not allow her heart to grow cold. He absolutely wouldn’t.
"I love you! I love you, Ethan! Did you hear that?!" Lily cried out loud.
The surrounding area fell silent, and her voice was the only sound.
"I heard it." Ethan immediately smiled, overjoyed like a child. It was as if he didn’t feel any pain at all. "Then kiss me; come kiss me."
He wanted to pull her into his arms and kiss her fiercely, but right now... he could barely stand. The pain in his left shoulder was excruciating.
This time, Lily didn’t hesitate. She stood on her tiptoes and kissed him deeply. Tears fell, and the salty bitterness seeped into their mouths, making the kiss taste sorrowful.
Ethan tried to raise his hand to hold her, but he had no strength in either arm. All he could do was lower his head and use the last bit of his energy to kiss her.
The taste of her lipstick didn’t compare to her natural sweetness. She wasn’t meant for all this makeup nonsense.
It felt like a kiss before death, both using all their strength to kiss each other passionately and intensely.
The last rays of the setting sun cast a golden glow over them, outlining a scene of heartbreaking beauty.
The bodyguards stood quietly, not making a sound, and the crowd watching from a distance also fell silent.
Ethan collapsed onto her fragile shoulder when all his strength drained away, speaking weakly, "Lily, don’t ever wear makeup again... This powder... smells terrible..."
Lily didn’t know whether to cry or laugh. Even at a time like this, he was complaining about her makeup. He thought it smelled terrible, and yet he had kissed her for so long...
"Miss Anderson, the ambulance has arrived. I’ll clear the area. Please accompany Mr. Blackwood to the vehicle," Cipher said as he approached, motioning for two bodyguards to help hold up the now semi-conscious Ethan.
Lily watched his retreating figure, her chest tightening with pain.
From that moment on, Lily knew she could never leave this man again.
Ethan’s self-harming actions had resulted in his entire left arm being suspended in a sling, completely ruining his once sharp and handsome image.
Several nurses stood at attention in the VIP hospital room while Nanny sat by the bed, peeling an apple. "Mr. Blackwood, would you like something to eat?"
"No!"
Ethan sat up in bed, his face pale, glaring at the woman standing by the window.
He was too angry to eat! How could he eat?!
It was already late at night. Lily stood by the window, her posture straight. The soft light from the chandelier shone on her, highlighting her smooth, long black hair and pure profile. She didn’t look like someone about to become a mother.
He should have been happy and content seeing her still standing there, within his sight, not having left.
But ever since he had been brought to the hospital room after surgery, from the moment he woke up from the anesthesia, Lily had been standing by the window, talking on the phone for over ten minutes.
And she was using his phone.
She hadn’t even glanced at him once during that time.
And he had been lying there, watching her talk on the phone for over ten minutes, and she still hadn’t hung up or bothered to look his way!
"Yes, replace all the furniture at home, especially the bed. And the study in the master bedroom—everything except the books should be replaced," Lily instructed over the phone, her voice calm and composed.
Ethan was so angry that his stomach hurt. She wanted to tear apart his house, and he didn’t care about that. But couldn’t she at least show some concern for his injuries? Was it so hard to care about him? Would it kill her to just look at him?
Where was the woman crying out, saying she loved him just a while ago?!
"Replace his office, too. And that bed—donate it to Africa," Lily continued, her tone methodical.
She was even dismantling his office.
"Lily—Anderson!" Ethan finally lost his patience and roared through gritted teeth.
Only then did Lily glance casually at him before continuing her phone call. "And donate all of Ethan’s cars, too. Just buy him a new one."
She wasn’t the type to waste things, but anything that carried the mark of another woman had to go.
She was going to sever him entirely from his past.
"For now, that’s it. I’ll let you know if I think of anything else. Thank you, Secretary Helen." Lily finally ended the call and turned to face Ethan, who glared at her with a sour expression. She pulled out her phone and snapped a picture of him.
"Lily! What are you doing?!" Ethan fumed. What kind of state was he in right now, and she had the nerve to take a picture of him?!
"Nothing much. I’m going to enlarge this picture and hang it on the wall. I’ll add a caption: ’Self-harm behavior. Do not imitate,’" Lily said with a smirk.
"Pfft—"
Nanny, still peeling an apple, couldn’t help but laugh. The nurses standing nearby also stifled their giggles, not daring to laugh out loud.
Ethan’s face darkened even more, and he glared at Nanny. "Do you think this is funny? Get out! All of you!"
Were they all getting too comfortable, making fun of him just because he was injured?!
"Yes, Mr. Blackwood."
Nanny quickly got up and left the room with the nurses.
Only then did Lily finally sit down on the bed, leaning lightly against Ethan’s right shoulder, careful not to put any pressure on him. She opened the photo on her phone and showed it to him. "What do you think? Not bad, right? It’s a great example of what not to do."
"Lily! Do you have any conscience? Who do you think I got hurt for?! I’ve been awake for so long—have you even asked about my condition?!" Ethan shouted, thoroughly irritated. Why was her heart as hard as a rock?
She dared to mock and take pictures of him in his current state.
"I didn’t ask you to hurt yourself," Lily muttered.
When he had been wheeled into surgery, she had been in a state of panic, almost following him inside, but the doctors had forced her to stay outside. She had stood there for a long time, only relaxing when they told her he would be okay.
Ethan was a man who knew no limits.
He would do anything, use any means, no matter how extreme, even if it meant harming his own body. He wouldn’t even flinch.
"If I didn’t do that, would you have stayed?" Ethan scoffed. She had willingly leaned against his shoulder, and the scent of her hair made the pain in his left shoulder feel much more bearable.
He liked having her close.
Lily’s nose tingled with emotion, and she whispered, "Don’t ever do something so foolish again."
She wanted their relationship to be expected, not one that involved such extremes.
She didn’t want to see him hurting himself anymore.
Sensing the change in her tone, Ethan’s eyes darkened, and his voice grew husky. "Are you crying?"
A wave of warmth flooded Ethan’s heart. He had thought she didn’t care about his injuries, but now... this girl...
She was still leaning lightly against his right shoulder, her head lowered so he couldn’t see her face.
"No," Lily sniffed, putting her phone aside and blinking rapidly to keep the tears from falling.
"You are!" Ethan tried to turn his head to look at her face, but Lily quickly turned away, not letting him see. As soon as he moved, pain shot through his left shoulder, preventing him from making any significant movements.
"I said no, so no!"
"Lily, what’s wrong about admitting you care about me?!" Would it kill her to admit it and make him happy for once?!
"Who would care about a self-harming lunatic?" Lily blinked away her tears, refusing to give in.
"I clearly heard someone shouting ’I love you’ to this lunatic!" Ethan retorted with a smug smirk. He had been close to passing out, but he would never forget what she said.
The way she had shouted her love for him... was more moving than anything else. Even though she had been wearing makeup, which he hated, it had still been captivating.
Lily fell silent. She knew she couldn’t win this argument.
After a while, Ethan grew restless again. He leaned closer to her ear, his voice low and seductive. "Lily, I want to kiss you."
"Can’t you behave?"
"Kiss me, and I will," he replied, shamelessly demanding.
Lily rolled her eyes, wiping the emotions off her face, and turned to give him a quick, dismissive peck on the lips.
Ethan was about to deepen the kiss, but before he could, Lily had already pulled away and leaned back against his right shoulder.
"Lily! You call that a kiss?!" Ethan grumbled. He had shot himself twice for her, and this was how she repaid him?
Did she think she could just brush him off because he was temporarily incapable of chasing her?
"What would you call it, then?" Lily asked, confused. Did every kiss have to be some deep, passionate French kiss? Did they always have to kiss until they were breathless?
"Lily Anderson!"
"Yes?" Lily answered as obediently as a student in class, leaving Ethan frustrated.
Ethan glared at the head resting on his right shoulder. He raised his right hand and wrapped it around her waist, then suddenly spoke with seriousness. "Today... I was terrified you’d leave."
He had said everything he could, yet she was still determined to go. She had left him no choice...
Chasing after one woman had been so exhausting he never wanted to go through this with anyone else again.
Never leave me again...
Lily’s heart trembled at his words. She sat up, her eyes red as she gazed at his pale lips. Her slender fingers gently stroked his handsome face, and she leaned to kiss him again.
This time, she didn’t pull away so easily. She lingered on his lips, the kiss soft but filled with emotion.
Her heart was racing.
His lips were burning hot, and his eyes darkened with desire. He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss, his tongue skillfully exploring her mouth, tasting every inch of her, savoring her sweetness...
He had paid such a high price for this kiss... He wouldn’t lose her again. He couldn’t risk losing her.
Lily closed her eyes, giving in to the kiss, her body softening under his touch...
Suddenly, the image of Aiko Nakamura kissing Ethan in his office flashed through her mind.
The memory jolted her, and she pulled back abruptly. Ethan frowned in frustration, his eyes dark with unfulfilled desire. He leaned in again, trying to recapture her lips.
But Lily scooted further away, retreating on the hospital bed, putting as much distance between them as possible.
Ethan gritted his teeth in frustration. "Lily, are you playing with me?!"
She had kissed him, got him all worked up, and then pulled away? Was she messing with him on purpose? This woman was getting bolder...
