Chapter 37: Knowledge Merchant

"Now we have reports on the general weather. The record of falling temperatures across the globe is about to end, we have reports that the cold that has built up on the planet will drop rapidly, and we have information that the overall temperature will rise by at least 15 per cent. According to the meteorological sources, there is a generalisation that the planet’s temperature will increase from the beginning of next month."

Light was becoming increasingly unable to hide his astonishment with each news he listened to. He remembered well that before the apocalypse, this winter had lasted about six months, which was when he had been left to die.

It was bad that he did not know everything completely, indeed, it would have been better for him to live not for 6 months, but maybe for 6 years and know everything in the future.

The fact that he thought that he had died much earlier than necessary and had returned to the past was enough to show how much he had changed.

Still, the fact that he had no recollection of such news made everything strange. He knew the future to some extent.

First America and Italy had fallen, then France, Russia and Nepal. The events that went on in this way culminated with the fall of England, Turkey, China, Korea and Poland.

The fact that the whole world had fallen not only against the cold but also against the virus was making everything terrible.

What about afterwards? The possibility that he didn’t know what would happen next or that something had changed scared Light enormously, especially the fact that he had to protect those under his wing was the biggest thing that ruined everything.

Left alone with his thoughts, Light realised that he had to go out once more, he was very aware of what he had to do. He had to gather information and approach the untouchable echelon.

"A merchant!" he suddenly said in a small voice.

In his Sub-Space, there was a huge amount of goods, food, drink and much more and those supplies were enough for about a family of four for years.

This meant that trading with the groups that were likely to form would ensure that any information would be known to him.

He quickly stood up and then walked out of his room, he had to go to his sister and ask her for something. They were in dark times now, so he needed something to symbolise him. Maybe she needed a mask or an outfit.

For this, he had to go to the best designer he knew, Petunia Black.

He rushed to the front of his sister’s room quickly walked past Lawrence and Pacifica and began to knock hard on the door:

"THUMP! THUMP! THUMP!"

It was as if he was kicking the door of the room, but it opened immediately. Petunia looked at her little brother with a puzzled expression and seemed to be trying to understand what was going on.

"Sis, I need your help so badly," Light said and rushed into her room without asking his sister.

Petunia couldn’t even remember the last time this had happened, but if Light was this excited, she should at least listen to him.

Looking at Lawrence as if to say, "I’m done," Petunia stuck her head back into the room and shut the door.

"What is it, Light?" Petunia asked calmly and saw the happy look her little brother was giving her.

When Light was organising the room he was going to give to his sister, he bought as many things as he could, from sewing machines to 3-D printers. This, of course, made her sister’s room one of the biggest rooms in the house.

"Sis, I’ll give you a few requests and ask you to make some clothes with them, what do you say?" When Light said these, Petunia nodded her head without thinking and said "Yes, of course." It was very strange for her little brother to be so excited about such a thing.

"You’re the best, sis!" Light suddenly said, and with that, he handed his sister a pen and paper and started to say what he wanted:

"First of all, I want a very oppressive mask, you know, people should remember this mask when they see it, they should be able to say that he came. You can use anything for this, so I don’t have any external requirements, it should be as threatening as possible."

Petunia, who was writing down Light’s requests, seemed to suddenly have an idea, and while shaking her head, she was trying to form a definite idea of these requests. She had an idea, of course, but to get a certainty was another matter altogether.

"Is that it?" Petunia suddenly asked, and Light, hearing this, shook his head and continued to speak:

"No, of course not. My second request is for an outfit, I want an equally menacing outfit."

When Light made this simple request, Petunia just looked at him as if she was dumbfounded and then shook her head and continued to write down her brother’s requests, her face was officially disappointed.

As Petunia was writing down the requests, she suddenly turned to Light as if it had suddenly dawned on her.

"Where are you going to use these clothes?" Petunia asked.

"You know that I’m looking for people, right, and you realise that my knowledge is limited, sister...I need a situation where I can gain knowledge, which reveals another situation...."

"Another situation?" Petunia seemed to be listening to his words with great curiosity.

"I’m going to be a trader. A merchant you may say. I need to look like I’m from a certain place. Imagine, in an apocalypse like this, someone wearing such strange clothes is trying to sell dozens of foods, drinks and things. I can have as much information as I want, we can have immunity."

Light’s answers were quite linear, but Petunia took a deep breath, then sat down next to her brother and leaned her head on his shoulder:

"But you’ll be in a lot of danger. It’s not unreasonable," Petunia said, who would have thought that such a true thing would suddenly be said.
