Chapter 50: Raid to Tamworth

Light and his 11 companions finally made it to the place indicated in the information from the clerk. Tamworth.

Tamworth might have been the quietest place Light had ever seen, there was no noise on the surface or anywhere else, and the fact that it was not snowing or foggy today seemed to be in everyone’s favour. After all, it might not have been possible to have such a massive interaction in such a quiet place.

Of course, the main goal of the group was not to interact, but to hunt as many zombies as possible, yet no one could see anything.

"It’s so quiet," Lillia suddenly said in a low voice. Indeed, it was incredibly unsettling that there was not a sound to be heard.

Light’s fear was growing inside him, his heart was pounding and he felt that something was wrong.

"Put on your weapons." Light suddenly said this was a direct order.

Hearing this order, the group members took out the M4A1 guns with silencers that Light had given them at the firing position and started to wait.

"Something is hiding, in the snow or the surrounding buildings, I can feel it. Each of you stay alert, watch where you step."

Light suddenly said these words and then armed himself with his weapon, indeed, a voice inside him seemed to be telling him that a deadly danger was lurking in the snow.

Maybe this voice belonged to the system itself, maybe Light’s instincts had increased to a gigantic amount.

One thing was certain, however, that a single mistake would destroy not only his life but the lives of all the members of the group.

After the group had done exactly as Light had said, each of them began to look around carefully, they had been standing where they were for a while, but now it was time to move.

The windows of the surrounding buildings were broken, it was obvious that Tamworth had fallen to the zombies and was destroyed, but Light thought that they might be able to find someone to get information.

However, the group that slowly started to move forward must have chosen Tamworth Castle as the target place, as each of them started to move towards that road.

"HELP ME!!!"

A sudden scream rang out from the snow-covered buildings. It was a woman’s voice and it rang with incredible fear.

Because of the high decibel of this voice, the silence around seemed to be broken. Sounds that would make the group sweat with fear began to rise from the surrounding buildings:

"GRRAAAHHH...."

"GRRRR..."

"AARRRRGGHHH..."

"SQUELCH..."

With that, dozens of zombies burst out of the buildings, some of them running, others walking slowly towards the group. The group was suddenly awakened by another voice echoing in their ears:

"WAKE THE FUCK UP! FREE FIRE!"

Light’s sudden shout seemed to bring the group to its senses, as each group member gathered themselves and began firing, each shot echoing through the narrow streets.

The zombies running towards them fell one by one, but some of them somehow managed to get out of the way.

The fact that there were 12 people in the group helped them because the other members of the group were able to take them down, no matter how many zombies got out of the way.

Nevertheless, the more zombies were shot, the more zombies were coming out of the buildings. It was as if each building had a zombie lair inside.

"SIR WE NEED TO MOVE TOWARDS THE CASTLE, WE CAN BLOCK THE GATES!" Charles suddenly called out to Light and pointed to the castle not far from them. When Light looked at the castle, he realised that what Charles had said made sense and shouted "RUN!" pointing at the castle.

The group members stopped shooting and started running towards the castle at a fast pace. The adrenaline in their bodies was so high that some of them forgot to breathe.

The fact that they were less than 100 metres away from the castle was an excellent fortune because if they had stayed a little longer, they would all have been dead for sure.

The castle wasn’t very big it could be said to be quite small, and even though most of the snow had melted and even been dug up by collectors like the shopkeeper, it was still hard to understand how none of them had died here with all these zombies.

Still, everyone was relieved to see that the bars outside the castle were open.

Light, who entered the castle from the front, closed the castle door and sealed the door as each member of the group entered the castle.

Thinking that this would not be enough, he took out several heavy heavy crates from his Sub-Space and placed them in front of the wide door.

After almost three minutes, the pounding on the door seemed to stop.

It was at that moment that everyone managed to take a deep breath.

"Good job, I’m proud of you all," Light suddenly said, and with that, he picked up his gun again and said, "Check the rooms, make sure there’s no danger inside." Safety came first in this situation.

After the group dispersed to the rooms, Light carefully sat down on one of the stairs and continued to breathe. After almost 5 minutes, the rest of the group returned to Light and one of them said, "The castle is clean, sir."

Hearing these words, Light finally managed to calm down and then glanced at the group and said "The danger seems to have passed for the moment, but stay alert, I will take out more crates, anyone who does not have a problem with carrying them, use the crates to close the windows, make sure no one enters."

The danger may have passed now, but if there was one thing Light knew, it was that zombies were no joke, if there was a high-level mutant among them, these doors or windows would not last long.

And the danger was literally at the door.
