Chapter 49: To The Hunt

"PERCY THEY’RE HERE!"

Liam suddenly ran back into the house and shouted towards Percy who was trying to have a drink. Even if Percy didn’t realise what was going on, judging by the look on his face, it would be fair to say that he wasn’t in a good place.

Percy’s skin was incredibly pale, and it did not resemble his old brunette skin. He looked like a zombie.

His eyes were black and bloodshot underneath, and he was just looking around and paying absolutely no attention to Liam’s words.

The voices in his head seemed to drown out everything else, and with the appearance of being ready to lose his mind at any moment, he finished the alcohol in front of him in one swoop and stood up immediately afterwards.

"Well, let’s go kill him then," Percy said. He didn’t quite understand what was going on and why everyone was suddenly trying to find him, but he was sure that as long as he had this power inside him, nothing could go wrong.

When the apocalypse started, the trio were waiting together as usual. Unexpectedly, however, Percy had been exposed to the virus at a high level by a mutant plant.

Despite such a high dose, he did not turn into a zombie or the even more powerful type of mutant and instead remained a human who was able to maintain his level of intelligence. There was not much left in his mind except for the voices that protected him from dangers, told him to kill people and told him that he could go beyond humanity.

Still, Percy was a despicable human being, he was sure that he would not even be able to explain how much he enjoyed killing. He thought that he could feel such great pleasure that he could write hundreds of pages of writing.

Liam and Karen, however, were not so different from him. They had both been exposed to the virus, although not as high a dose as Percy, and of course it had turned them into monsters.

Their bodies were quite bullet-resistant, their wounds healed quite quickly, and many zombies could not try to attack them.

It was completely obvious that they had turned into monsters.

Each time they killed a human they grew stronger, each time their bodies became more perfect, and it was clear that it would not be long before their bodies became monsters.

The only problem was that there were not enough zombies and humans strong enough for them to kill.

In short, they needed people who could use powers like them, and unfortunately, they had not met such a person until now.

Their purpose in travelling to London was that they had found a clue to the existence of such a person.

Unfortunately, this had only caused them trouble and they were wanted in 4 different cities, now they were in hiding and when the time came they preyed on the weak, puny and defenceless.

They had reached the lowest point that a human being could be, although they were not human anymore.

Light was going to have a hard time against these enemies.

"Mr Arah, Mistress Elise is calling for you." There was the usual polite knock on the door of the room, and after almost a week, the groups that had been sent out to find zombie lairs began to return, albeit slowly.

As each group returned, separate notes were taken, the types of zombies that had been seen were reported, and the presence of other such things were shown to Light.

"Got it, I’ll be there." Light, who had shouted from inside the room, immediately stood up and then carefully dressed and left the room, today would be their last day here.

He and the group he had gathered were going to enter a zombie lair, and he had been busy training the group for almost a week.

Of course, the group was more skilled at fighting than he was, his training was that different types of zombies especially mutants could have different types of weaknesses. Of course, he had only encountered one mutant so far, which was the difficulty.

This was the second aspect of the training. Light had made it clear to the group that if he was in the area, zombies could not die even if they were shot in the head, and that his skill was like a game, that everything had a life, and that zombies attacked did not die unless their life was reset.

This meant that no matter how bad your aim was, you had to keep firing and firing and firing until every single one of them fell to the ground.

Even though the group and the people in Elise’s group who were with them and wanted to hear the training didn’t quite understand how it worked, everything was still a little bit understandable.

The hunt would begin the next day.

"You called me, Elise." When Light entered the meeting room, Elise’s beautiful smile greeted him. The increased morale of the group members in the room at the sight of him could be said to make Light feel a little strange.

"The last group is back Arah, I wanted to give you the reports and I was wondering if you needed any help one last time."

The reason why Elise asked this was obvious.

Light and Elise, who had moved from co-workers to normal friends, decided to help each other regardless of the ’result’.

Of course, Light was not so despicable that he would leave the help given to him empty, but Elise did not accept whatever he said.

However, Light was going to take not only his group but also a few of Elise’s group members with him.

"Thank you." Light said suddenly, sending the report to his Sub-Space at that moment and sitting on one of the armchairs in the room. He started to look at the members around him and then said, "7 people will be enough, I will provide the ammunition, I will provide the food and drink and everything else, they just need to fight with me for a while."

Elise smiled when she heard these words and realised that Light had finally accepted her and her group completely. This was indeed excellent news.

"Then let’s get started Arah, pick the people you want, I’ll leave their safety and everything else to you, I’m sure you’ll do your best."

With these words, Light nodded his head and stood up and extended his hand to Elise, at that very moment Elise took Light’s hand and Light said the following words:

"Congratulations on the permanent alliance between the Scavengers and the Roan group."
