Chapter 67: One Of Us Will Die!

[Health: 3917/15193]

The Tier 5 Mutant White Ice Zombie was almost dead, but at that very moment, something unexpected happened.

The mutant zombie had taken almost ten steps backwards and then swung its claw once more. At the same time, a not-so-thick block of ice had formed in front of Light and blocked his vision.

As Light tried to load bullets into the shotgun, he pushed himself backwards because his vision was blocked and managed to stand up.

The white skin of the mutant zombie was dyed red because of its blood, but when they looked carefully, it could be seen that each blood flowing from the zombie’s body was blue.

Each of them could see that the blood that fell to the ground formed a mass of ice.

It was an incredibly ’blood’ freezing sight.

When Light managed to stand up, he hadn’t finished loading the shotgun. Even if he managed to overcome his fear, the adrenaline in his body blocked him, even for the first time, as if he was having a heart attack and his hands were shaking.

As soon as the mutant zombie used its intelligence and realised what was happening, it lunged towards the warehouse and grabbed onto the metal walls of the warehouse, leaping into the air to pounce on Light.

Light had noticed the mutant zombie falling towards him from the air and trying to swing his claw, and he used his speed to throw himself backwards once more.

However, this time his speed was not enough.

"TAK!!!"

The mutant zombie’s claw hit the mask that Light was wearing and destroyed half of it.

Light’s left eye became visible, thank God he was unharmed and only the mask was damaged.

At that moment, the reload sound that managed to fill the bullet of his shotgun was heard again:

"Chk---chk!!!"

Light fired at the mutant zombie standing in front of him without waiting:

"BANG!!!"

There was a maximum of thirty centimetres between the Tier 5 Mutant White Ice Zombie and Light, which meant that all the shotgun bullets would have hit the zombie’s body directly.

Due to the impact, the mutant zombie was blown back about a metre, and Light easily realised that the shotgun had damaged his shoulder due to the close combat.

If the mutant zombie was not dead, it would be the end of him.

Still, he didn’t need to worry.

"BANG!!!"

"BANG BANG!!!"

The succession of gunfire was finally enough to indicate that Leonard and the others had managed to move the warehouse group to where the car was.

Pacifica, Leonard and the others had come directly to Light’s aid.

However, Light had already killed the mutant zombie.

This was his victory, this was a demonstration of what human will and adrenaline can do to people.

This was the first time Light had killed a being many times his rank.

With these two system windows suddenly appearing in front of Light, he laid himself down on the snow mass that was stained with crimson blood and then began to breathe deeply.

"Are you alright?" Pacifica asked, leaning down next to Light and carefully stroking his hair.

Light nodded and stood up after lying there for almost two minutes. His shoulder hurt like hell, but there was nothing he could do about it, he had fought and of course, he was hurt, he was not invincible after all.

"That was just a Tier 5 Mutant Zombie..." Light muttered, and the group trembled inwardly.

When Light approached the zombie and opened its head, he realised that an extract was there and instantly removed it from his inventory.

With that, Leonard started to support Light and the group managed to get up to where the vehicle was again.

Light was very tired, so he was not going to drive the vehicle, he immediately took out three more vehicles from his inventory and then selected a few people from the group and put the warehouse group on the vehicles and they set off.

Light’s shoulder was in bad shape, he even thought he might have dislocated it. He had the ability of first aid, but this ability was not useful in such things.

Having doctors in the warehouse group would be very useful for him.

After almost two hours of travelling, the whole group had made it to the first gate with four vehicles.

Light jumped out of the vehicle and went through the usual security procedures, then led everyone through five gates to the main area.

When everyone got out of the vehicle, Lawrence greeted the group and, seeing Light’s condition, quickly approached him.

"Master! Are you all right?" he asked. Lawrence’s anger suddenly turned to the soldiers and each of them bowed their heads in shame.

Lawrence was a Major General in the military, or at least he had managed to rise to that rank before he retired, a high-ranking soldier in the British Army, though not a very high-ranking one.

This made Leonard and the others hang their heads in shame.

"They did a good job, Lawrence, our priority was to get these people to safety, I was the one who chose to fight, they followed orders to the letter," Light muttered, knowing it wasn’t their fault, after all, they had all rushed to Light’s aid as soon as they had been ordered to do so.

That was something to be applauded.

At that very moment, one of the doctors in the warehouse group stepped forward and said, "Sir, let me check your shoulder."

Light shook his head when he heard these words and then turned to Aurora, who had already come to them, and said, "I hope you have completed the construction at least one level, Aurora."

Aurora shook her head and replied, "Thanks to you, six huts are complete, it won’t be hard to fit that many people inside."

Light’s plan to expand the Scavengers was in full swing.
