A Single Mother's Farm of the Gods-Chapter 538: Purify the Corruption [I]

Reopening the portal back to the land of the dead is no longer something foreign for Elaina now. She might have only used it a few times, but those few times are enough times to get familiar with how the teleportation works and how it handles the portal’s placement. With that said, it is not that easy to also make a precise portal placement, either, since she has to place the portal by pointing it on the map of the Almanac.

But it only took her a few trial and error to open the portal in the precise location she wanted it to open. It’s not perfect, but she is indeed getting the hang of it.

Then, Elaina remembered something and headed outside. She has already encountered a few of the pixies in the cave; how could she forget about the pixie who also named herself Pixie living on her farm? She needed to tell her about this matter and how she discovered her race is not yet extinct, just hiding from the eyes of the others to the point that even the gods thought they had gone extinct, and Pixie is the only one left behind.

She saw that the other pixies were either happily relaxing or working around the farm. One can even say that the pixies are now a regular attraction on the farm. They are no longer something that only exists in fiction and history books. They are flesh and bone to the core and can talk and have a conversation with you.

But she has no business with the other pixies, but with the main pixie and the only pixie she saved back then.

Elaina quickly spotted her. Considering that her wings have been clipped, the wings she uses nowadays are made of mana, and whenever she isn’t flying, her wings will disappear and return to their original form, where her clipped wings become visible.

"Pixie?" Elaina calls, perking up the little fairy.

"Miss Elaina! You need something?" Pixie stood up from where she was sitting and asked Elaina her reason for calling.

"Yeah. But first, can we discuss this somewhere?" Elaina offered her palms to Pixie to step in.

Pixie nodded and stepped to Elaina’s palm as they entered the house.

"Remember back then when I said that your lineage of pixies has died out and you are the last one in line?" Elaina wanted to see if Pixie still remembers.

"Yeah. It was also the time that you saved me from my situation back then. I will not forget about that, and I am still thankful for your patience back then. I might have died back there and would not be able to revitalize my race back to existence."

Elaina scratched her head and sighed. "It seems I was wrong about that part about your race going extinct, and you are the last one of your kind. I recently discovered an isolated part somewhere far from Darcero Kingdom, currently living in a cave, and they are guarding the World Tree.

"Huh? That can’t be right. I am also sure that I didn’t notice any pixies back then when I tried to call for them. No signs of life nor signs of response. It is clear that they all have died, and I am the only one left behind back then. That should be impossible," Pixie shook her head, denying that Elaina made a mistake.

"You confirmed it yourself?" Elaina was surprised.

"Yeah. Pixies like me have the ability to get a connection to other pixies like me and detect their life source. And even with my weakened condition back then, that ability did not diminish at all and is still functional, so I doubt it malfunctioned back then. I was sure that I was the only pixie left in this world back then. So what is this about Pixies still thriving and surviving somewhere, and are guarding some sort of tree?" Pixie looks confused.

"Would you like to see and meet them? Do you want to confirm if they are legitimate pixies or not?" Elaina suggested.

"Yeah. That is the best course of action here. I don’t doubt your words, Miss Elaina, but I needed to confirm this information myself. After all, a pixie can recognize a fellow pixie or not. I will know if those pixies are real pixies or not."

Elaina nodded. She let Pixie excuse herself from the other pixies that she would be going with Elaina to check something, and they all agreed so far.

With the watering can in hand, sword on her hip, and the brooch she attached to her clothes and little Pixie on her breast pocket, she steps inside the portal and immediately notices something.

The air in the Land of the Dead seems to have gotten a bit lighter and a bit clearer. Back then, it felt like the air was quite heavy and the surroundings felt like a semi-desert. Now, the air seems to have lightened up, and the dust has cleared a little bit. It’s still dusty and unfavorable to breathe in, but it is improving. She wondered if the act of saving the dragon knight being impaled on the tree somehow made the difference, allowing the situation around the Land of the Dead to slowly improve.

"Where are we?" Pixie asked.

"This is the Land of the Dead. A desolate wasteland that has no ability to sustain proper life due to something corrupting the land," Elaina explained.

"You telling me they are living here? Isn’t this pretty much a hostile environment for us Pixies? This place is not a good place to live in!"

"I agree with that sentiment, Pixie. But somehow, those guys were so tenacious that they survived that as well. We are going on where they are currently staying."

Before she headed over to the cave, she didn’t forget about the dragon and went to check him...only to see that he was nowhere near his previous location. Elaina is not surprised, as it is only a matter of time before he wakes up. The only location he will be found is inside the pixies’ cave after waking up. There is a chance he will be confused about how he got outside and will look for someone to ask about his current situation.

The signs of footsteps big enough for a human are also present on the ground, and it isn’t too fresh, which also means the dragon did not recently wake up. Knowing that the Dragon Knight is now in the cave, she heads over to see the situation there.

The cave’s entrance remains the same, minus the dead bodies of the worms. It seems that the nearby ashes are the burned bodies of those monsters, and they have just finished getting rid of them.

There are still a few pixies loitering around the entrance. They have seen Elaina, but compared to when she first arrived, it seems that the pixies are no longer concerned about her presence there.

However, one of the fairies seems to have sensed Pixie’s presence as she stopped and looked in Elaina’s direction.

"Wait, that presence is familiar..."

The other pixies looked in their direction and soon had the same reaction as the first pixie who had detected the presence of Pixie.

"You are right, it’s very familiar."

Elaina was about to ask Pixie about this situation when the Village Elder of the pixies rushed outside the cave’s entrance and looked around and saw Elaina. Then, he have seen Pixie peeking outside the breast pocket of Elaina’s shirt.

"Wait...is that you, Princess?"

Elaina frowned and glanced at Pixie who seemed to have remained calm so far. However, it was like some sort of revelation that she couldn’t believe coming from Pixie herself being revealed by an old pixie.
