Chapter 248: Structure of Heavens [1]

After an unknown amount of time, Yu Xuan opened his eyes.

His body felt... stable. Pain still coursed through every inch of him, but it was something he could ignore. Or rather, something he chose to ignore.

His gaze then swept across the surroundings — five figures stood before him, each exuding a profound aura.

"So, do I qualify for your legacy now?" Yu Xuan said, looking at the Martial Ancestor.

The Martial Ancestor regarded him in silence for a moment.

"Indeed," he said finally,

"you do. In fact... you’re so qualified that I think you’re overqualified for my legacy."

Yu Xuan blinked. Then blinked again.

His expression froze in disbelief.

’Wait a second... wasn’t that exactly what that HR manager said to the intern before rejecting him?’ he read such an online post, in his previous life.

He felt like he’d just been scammed by a strong old man with money.

Suppressing a sigh, Yu Xuan asked,

"Elders, how much time has passed?"

Baotian, stroking his long beard, smiled slightly, with an all-knowing air that only elderly experts seemed capable of maintaining.

In simple terms, a typical aura of a boasting Elder surrounded him.

"According to my calculations, roughly three weeks have passed in this space."

"What!?" Yu Xuan shot up, ignoring the slight pain.

"I need to go! Now!"

His voice carried genuine urgency, because if three weeks had truly passed, then the plans he had left in motion outside were already collapsing.

Not that he had much plans, but some important ones.

There was someone else involved, someone important and he couldn’t afford to miss that timing.

Seeing his expression twist with alarm, Baotian chuckled softly.

"Calm down, boy. Though three weeks have passed here, outside..." he paused for effect,

"...not even a few seconds have gone by outside."

Yu Xuan froze mid motion.

’Is it time dilation?’ He thought exhaling, long and deep, the tension in his shoulders fading away.

He smiled faintly to himself, already planning the next steps once he returned.

But before he could stand properly, the Martial Ancestor’s deep voice echoed.

"Child," he said, the tone shifting from mild amusement to grave seriousness,

"before you accept my legacy, there are things you must understand."

Yu Xuan’s posture straightened. His expression turned solemn. "I’m listening."

"Do you know," the Martial Ancestor began, "the true structure of the heavens?"

"I know the basics," Yu Xuan replied. "When one ascends from the Heavenly world, they enter the Immortal Realm. My world is likely in a Lower realm."

The Martial Ancestor gave a thoughtful hum.

"Your understanding is... adequate. But limited. I will simplify it for you, for now. When you ascend, I shall explain in full detail."

Yu Xuan nodded, mentally preparing himself for a long lecture.

And it was indeed long.

The Martial Ancestor began his explanation in a patient, almost teacher-like tone.

"The Worlds are divided as follows — Lower World, Middle World, Upper World, and Heavenly World. Together, these form what we call the a Lower Realm."

He paused, watching Yu Xuan’s face for any sign of confusion.

Yu Xuan nodded along politely.

The Ancestor continued unfazed.

"Among these Lower Realms, there exist distinctions based on scale and density of spiritual energy. There are Minor Lower Realms, the smallest; Major Lower Realms, the greatest; and Greater Lower Realms, existing somewhere in between those two. Each Lower Realm is anchored to a corresponding Immortal World — a vast World far greater in scale than any Lower Realm combined."

Yu Xuan tilted his head.

"So these Immortal Worlds, do they exist in heavens?"

"Exactly," the Ancestor affirmed.

"Each Immortal World exists in a specific Heaven."

That much Yu Xuan found interesting. But when he tried to ask which Heaven they were in, the Martial Ancestor simply gave him a look that said, ’you’ll find out when you’re stronger.’

Yu Xuan internally sighed.

Why do powerful people always love to be cryptic? Just say it!

Still, he pieced things together in his mind.

’So the Lower, Middle, Upper, and Heavenly Worlds make up the Lower Realms. Each Lower Realm has three tiers and is connects to an Immortal World, and the Immortal World exist in a specific Heaven... Then, does that mean the "Nine Heavens" concept still applies here?’

The Martial Ancestor noticed Yu Xuan’s contemplative silence and smiled slightly.

At least, the boy was not dumb.

After some time, the Ancestor concluded his explanation, his tone growing heavier.

"Now," he said, "there is one more thing you must know before you inherit my legacy."

His gaze deepened.

"Have you ever heard," he asked, "of the Dark Heavens? Or as some call them, the Fallen Heavens, or Mirror Heavens?"

Yu Xuan frowned. "What?"

The name struck him.

Because, during the Impossible difficulty in the Chaos Tower, his opponents were from the Fallen Heavens!

Straightening slightly, Yu Xuan replied, "Yes. I heard of the Fallen Heavens recently, during a trial in the Chaos Heaven Peak."

The reaction was immediate.

"What?" The Martial Ancestor’s usually steady tone cracked with surprise.

For a long moment, he simply stared at Yu Xuan, as if trying to determine whether the boy was joking.

When he saw the serious look in Yu Xuan’s eyes, his expression was of disbelief.

A thousand thoughts flashed through his mind.

A young lower realm cultivator who knows of the Fallen Heavens...

His eyes widened slightly as the pieces began to fit together.

Yu Xuan was an irregular.

He was also, the bearer of the Chaos Flame, likely gained from the Chaos Heaven Peak Master.

Recently exposed to the Fallen Heavens during a trial in the Chaos Heaven Peak.

As he knew the personality of the Chaos Heaven Peak Master, that trial was anything but normal.

The Martial Ancestor’s fingers twitched slightly, as if resisting the urge to descend in the sect, to confirm the impossible.

Then he muttered to himself.

"So... it truly is fate, then."

After a pause, he exhaled deeply, his expression settling into a thoughtful calm.

"I see."
