Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 141-The Water Calls For Me
Kash:
Everyone turned to look.
"I do not know. Maybe some fish," Lord Ronald replied with a shrug.
I leaned forward and looked into the river. There were fish inside, strange in color but beautiful. Still, that did not explain it. Then I heard the voice again.
"You are the only one who can hear me. I knew it. You are special, and I have been waiting for you for so long."
I shifted my balance to one foot, still checking out the area.
"Don’t worry. The others cannot hear me. They are not pure enough. They are not special enough," she voiced while I kept looking around in confusion.
"But if you want to speak with me, you will have to come here alone. Then we can sit and talk for hours," she added, making me feel increasingly agitated.
I stepped toward Iris, who was standing silently in her spot.
"Iris," I called her name, making her turn to look at me. Her beautiful eyes melted my heart. For a moment, I wanted to tell her that her eyes were prettier than the river itself.
"Do you hear this voice?" I asked her.
"What voice?" Iris replied softly.
"It’s a woman’s voice," I told her.
Iris frowned in confusion, then looked at me again and rolled her eyes.
"Lara has been speaking nonstop," she responded with a shrug.
I gave her a look. That was when I heard the woman again, and this time her voice sounded displeased.
"I am talking to you, and you are busy with that woman. What is so special about her? Why would you say her eyes are more beautiful than me? Why would you compliment her voice and not mine?"
I grew more agitated and scratched the back of my head.
"What is going on with you? Are you hearing something?" Iris asked, watching me closely.
The woman spoke again.
"She is the love of your life, isn’t she?"
There was bitterness in her tone, and I did not like the attention she gave Iris.
My gaze dropped to the river. I noticed the water slowly rising. Some of the fish jumped in and out of it.
The water was reaching Iris’s feet now. No one else seemed to notice any of it.
Everyone else remained unaware, but my senses felt heightened here.
"Yeah, so I checked this place out. We will come back again once I have discussed the possible theme for the commercial with Iris," I told them, gently touching my temple.
I did not know how to explain it to them, but I was incredibly anxious.
"When will you return? I will wait for you. Remember, I have been waiting for you for many years, Kash. And please come alone. Do not bring these women with you. They do not understand you like I do," the woman’s voice continued, troubling me and causing anxiety.
I did not see anything. How was I supposed to respond to her?
"Let’s go," I remarked as I turned around and stepped back toward the cave.
Everyone else was probably confused by my behavior. They were still talking.
Luca was asking how deep the river was and other random questions that I did not pay attention to. I could not.
The voice kept speaking to me. It was not faint. It came from outside, and I did not know how to explain it to them.
I heard the others follow behind me. I did not slow down. The moment I stepped into the cave, I turned around and, without realizing what I was doing, grabbed Iris’s hand and began moving forward.
"Kash, what are you doing?" I heard her complain.
My mind felt unsettled, and I forgot that I was supposed to be holding Lara’s hand, not Iris’s.
The rest of the walk was filled with silence. I did not speak a word. I did not respond to anyone. I did not even let go of Iris’s hand. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Even when I heard Lara complaining in the distance to her father, my only goal was to rush out of there.
Once we reached the lit side of the cave, Iris pulled her hand free from mine.
I turned to her, then looked past her. Everyone approaching us looked shocked and confused.
"Are you okay, young man?" Lord Ronald asked as he approached me, gently patting my back.
"Yeah, I’m fine," I replied, barely able to speak now that we were far from the river.
For a moment, I began to wonder if what had just happened was only in my head. Did it really happen? Did the water really speak to me?
"So, what are your plans for the day?" Lord Ronald asked.
I was still out of it, but I managed to collect myself and turn to him.
"I have some commitments with my children, and then I want to work on the commercial a little," I told him.
Lord Ronald nodded. Lara pouted and stomped her foot for a moment. At that point, I had no energy or strength to deal with her.
I just wanted to get away from all of them so I could speak with Iris and tell her what I had heard inside. That could only happen once we were alone with the children.
We all got into our cars. During the ride, I tapped my fingers against my thighs anxiously and distracted, wondering who that woman was and how she knew me.
Once we arrived at the mansion again, I noticed my children playing in the front garden with Walkin.
Walkin had makeup all over his face and clothes. He looked miserable. Just watching them brought my smile back.
As we stepped out of the cars, Iris rushed to her children and hugged them. I could tell the comfort she felt in that moment. She had looked sad throughout the day, and holding them seemed to steady her.
Then her mother walked out.
Iris’s body stiffened. I knew the signs by now. I knew when she was scared, when she was upset, and when she was angry. Right now, she looked scared.
"So, how was the river?" her mother asked.
I knew why she asked. She knew I wanted the water for the children, and she had likely put together why I chose that location for the shoot.
"Great. It was calling for you," Luca teased, watching her give him a blunt look before turning toward us.
"So when are you shooting there? I would like to go there too," she stated.
The blank look she shared with her daughter made something settle in my mind.
Could it be that Iris’s mother was in contact with Lara, trying to create distance between us? I already knew she did not like me for her daughter.
"Iris, if you do not mind, I would like to speak with you about the river first. The location is still fresh in our minds, and I do not want anyone to sway us with their words and make us forget about it," I told Iris’s mother as I gently took Iris by the elbow.
Noticing how everyone reacted to my action, I immediately let her go. I also seemed more nervous about her mother watching me grab her.
"Walkin, bring the kids to us, please. We will spend some time with him while we talk about the location," I instructed as I pointed toward Walkin, who already understood that I was in a state of urgency.
"Are we not even going to have lunch first?" Lara complained, but I answered with a hand gesture.
"Later, maybe. I will take you out to dinner too," I replied, only to get her off my back. The way she smiled and clapped made it clear I had given her enough to be satisfied.
Iris’s mother, however, kept glaring at us, though she barely ever made eye contact with me. Her attention stayed mostly on Iris. Luca gave us a shrug before he stormed away.
Once the kids were with me and I had moved farther from the group, heading toward the other side of the garden, I turned to face Iris.
"What is going on?" I demanded bluntly.
She stopped in her tracks, lifted her head, and glared at me.
"Are we not here to talk about the Blue River? If not, then I would like to go," she replied sharply.
Her words were harsh, and it felt as if she was leaving no space for me to argue.
"Iris, I asked you what is going on," I pressed, repeating myself, this time more firmly.
"What is it with you guys never taking no for an answer from me?" she shot back.
It was the way she said it that made tears gather in her eyes. Even though she tried to sound rude, the words came from somewhere deep inside her.
They seemed to carry a meaning I did not yet understand.
"You guys?" I questioned. "What do you mean by that? Who else did not take no for an answer?" I added, my fists already clenching.
