Chapter 151: 151-Everyone Leaves Me Behind

Iris:

"You are taking that woman with you who I hate to get a cure for my son?" I asked him just in case he forgot I couldn’t trust her.

"That is the only way. She is already doing too much. She is deceiving her father for me. And my son," he retorted, stepping closer and pointing toward the ground for emphasis.

"That is because she wants to win your heart. That is why she has been so sweet in front of you," I said, taking a small step back as he leaned forward.

"She does not have to win my heart. She already got my heart. And even the other day when she was speaking in front of her father, she was saying all sorts of right things," he commented, lifting both hands slightly and spreading them as if presenting proof."Anyway, I will not continue talking about it. I have already made up my mind. I chose my team, just like you chose yours," he said as he straightened his coat.

He then turned his back to me, and walked away across the path.

It is safe to say there was no room left for any argument.

I went back to my room and spent the rest of the day with my children, at least until 5 p.m., because after that, once again, Kash showed up in the room.

I already knew it was bad news.

"Daddy!" Amy and Colin jumped off the beds, rushing over to him. They even pushed the board game aside that we had been playing.

"Did my children miss me?" he asked them sweetly, kneeling down in front of them.

"We did, but you’re so busy here. We don’t like the daddy you’re becoming here," Colin commented, and I noticed Kash’s eyes shift to me.

A very bitter look formed on his face. I did not understand what was happening with him, but every time he looked at me, he acted so bitter.

"I was thinking, how about I take you two for a stroll? You, me, and your stepmommy, Lara," Kash asked them, and my body flinched.

The hair on the back of my neck stood up. I had so much anger in me towards Lara already.

Then all the past rushed to me, along with what my mother had done to me.

At this point, I could not fathom who was on my team. Or if I even had a team.

The only people close to my heart were my children. Kash was busy trying to share them with Lara now.

"No, we don’t want to go with her. We would rather go with Mommy," Amy snapped, letting Kash know that just because he was getting swayed by Lara did not mean my children would too.

"Kids, your daddy loves you, right?" he asked them, kneeling in front of them.

The two children shared a glance and then nodded.

"And you love your daddy too, right?" he asked them, and their nods turned into literal firm head bobs.

"Then, would you not respect who your daddy loves?" As he asked them that question, I clenched my fists and looked away.

I did not get up from the bed the entire time. I knew if I said something to him or tried to come between him and his children, he would give me a very hard time.

So it was better if I stayed silent.

"Then, please be nice to her. She is an amazing woman. She will make you happy."

As soon as Kash started to say those things, causing me pain, my eyes moved up and I saw Lara stand behind the door frame.

She was listening to everything, probably feeling victorious.

"So then, what do you say?" Kash asked them.

The way he tried to convince them for her made me feel defeated.

I had told him that I was over him, but the truth was that they had all hurt me.

They did not leave me a choice except to be over them.

If he expected me to express my love for him after what he did to me, while he continued to be with her and contradicted himself.

And after he told me he was only with her for the water, then the way he acted with me today completely shattered me.

The way he tried to introduce her into my children’s lives made it worse.

If after all that he expected me to tell him that I was in love with him and could not live without him, then it was unfair.

Then came my mother. I had seen how Lara’s father acted with her.

Nobody would dare touch a finger on her or even raise a voice toward her.

And then there was my mother. I did not know if I was traumatized from the other night or if I was pushing myself too hard to forget about it and not become a victim of it.

With all that in my mind, I pressed my face into my hands.

I could not focus on what my children said or what Kash said next until I felt a little hand placed on my knee, and I snapped my head up.

"It’s okay, Mommy. Amy can go with Daddy. I don’t want to go for a stroll. My legs are little and they hurt too," Colin commented, and my head snapped to the side.

I watched Amy in Kash’s arms and realized what had been decided.

She was ready to go with her father, and I did not blame her.

"However you feel is right," I told Colin, half absentmindedly.

"Well then, Daddy will miss you," Kash remarked to Colin, who did not turn toward him but placed his head in my lap.

I turned to look at Amy, who was staring at me with guilty eyes.

I guess she had said yes to going out with Kash and Lara.

Now Kash and Amy were watching my face, waiting for my reaction or probably my comment.
