Alpha's Lost Luna Returns With His Twins-Chapter 162-He Picks Her Over His Children
Iris:
"Make sure you take my threat seriously this time," were her last words for a moment.
She turned around and stepped away. I watched her disappear into her room, and my heart began to beat louder.
At that point, I knew that if Kash married Lara, it would be too late for me. If he did not, my mother would not wait much longer. She would give my brother the cure, though she could wait one more day.
That realization brought a new pain inside me. If she managed to take me back to the Lycan community, it would be over for me. I would become their slave.
I quickly walked out of the guest house, and Walkin noticed me.
"Are you okay?" he asked, likely noticing how pale I looked.
"I’m fine. I need to speak with Kash," I replied. He stared into my eyes, probably seeing the tears there.
"He’s in his room. Are you sure you’re okay?" he asked again.
I gave him a small hand gesture and started to walk away, but then I stopped.
"Walkin, can you please not leave my children alone?" I asked.
He gave me a reassuring nod. It was sad that I trusted Walkin more than my own mother.
I hurried out and went straight to the mansion. There were many people moving around. Thankfully, Kash’s close family was not there, or at least not in sight. Only maids and helpers were nearby, so I thought I would not have to deal with anyone bitter.
I was wrong. Everyone recognized me.
"Wait, isn’t this Iris, his previous Luna and mate?" one of the alphas asked another, who snickered while pointing at me.
"Yeah, he likes to keep his secondhand things around," the other remarked.
His comment made me clench my fists, but I kept walking straight toward Kash’s room.
"Why do you think she’s here?" I heard one Luna ask another.
"I wonder what kind of seduction she’s trying this time, one last attempt to stop him. But of course, she’ll never win. Lara comes from a respectable background. As for her, she’s just a rogue. Of course he replaced her," the woman stated.
I swallowed my tears and reached the door. I knocked hard.
"Come in," a voice called from inside.
As I opened the door, I saw Kash getting ready. He stood in front of the mirror, fixing his hair and adjusting his all-black suit. It looked good on him.
"Do you think I should wear a quilted watch, a gold watch, or a silver one?" Kash asked, not realizing it was me.
"I need to speak with you."
He snapped his head around and stared at me in shock. Seeing how calmly he was preparing made my confidence crumble.
"What are you doing here?" he asked in confusion. He reached for the door, pulling it closer and glancing outside to make sure no one had seen me enter. "Iris, you shouldn’t be here. Rumors will spread."
He stopped when he noticed how miserable I looked. Concern crossed his face.
"What is it?" he asked.
"You wanted the truth. The truth is, I don’t want to marry Luca," I said. "He is my mother’s choice, not mine."
Finally seeming relieved, he shut the door and stepped closer to me.
"Okay. You don’t have to marry him. We’ll deal with it, okay?" he said, stumbling over his words.
"Then you shouldn’t marry Lara either."
The moment I said that, I noticed the lack of emotion on his face.
"What?" he asked in bewilderment. "I’m getting married tomorrow, Iris. How can you come here and suggest that?" he complained.
"I know I should have told you before, but please cancel the wedding," I urged. "If you don’t, my mother will."
I spoke without thinking.
"Then I’ll leave you forever. There will be no chance of us ever getting back together."
I did not know why I said it. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Wait, you want to be with me?" he asked, pointing at his chest.
"I’m not saying I want to be with you. I can’t forgive you," I replied. "I’m just saying that if you marry Lara now—"
He clicked his tongue, and I stopped talking.
"What do you mean by that? What do you mean by now?" he asked, placing his hands on his waist and looking at me sternly.
"If you want to marry her, you can do it a few days later, but not tomorrow."
I realized I had phrased it wrong when a harsh look formed on his face.
"Do you think this is a game?" he questioned. "Do you think you can come here, ask me to cancel my wedding, and I’ll do it for you? Do you really think I believe you when you say marrying Luca was your mother’s choice?" He folded his arms across his chest.
"I’ve told you what I needed to say. Just don’t get married, please," I said. "You wanted a cure, right? You got it. And it worked. Now, if the water is the only reason you’re getting married—"
I was still speaking when he raised his palm to stop me.
"Who told you the cure is the only reason I’m marrying Lara?" he asked. "I’m marrying her because I want to. And if you want to stay, I’ll give you the same choice as before. You can stay in the guest house. I won’t kick you out."
He stepped away from me, and I felt as if I had fooled myself.
I nodded and stepped back.
"I said what I needed to say. Please don’t marry her if it’s only for the water."
I could not ask him to choose between me and her. I had done that before, and he had chosen her. Besides, I could not choose him either, no matter whom he chose. It made me wonder why I had come here at all. Maybe I just needed comfort.
"I have to get ready for dinner tonight," he said. "Tomorrow, I’m getting married, Iris. I told you to trust me. And now I’m telling you that I’m marrying her because I want to, that because I love her more than you–and even my children."
