Apocalyptic Beastworld: A Farming Space Dimension to Another World-Chapter 126: Scouting for Enemies
Mo Lingfeng’s words brought a tense atmosphere among them, especially when they noticed that Xie Ziyuan had somehow vanished from within their group. He had gone very silently without anyone noticing.
At this moment, Xie Ziyuan was standing on top of the rockery. His brows furrowed deeply. Occasionally, he would take a few deep breaths in discomfort.
Days passed and there were no traces of water source spotted yet.
His eyes stared ahead of him at nothing in particular. He was deep in thought. In a flash, his figure disappeared.
Meanwhile, the beastmen were on pins and needles as they waited for the horde of fierce beasts to come. However, even after waiting for so long, they didn’t come.
"Mo Lingfeng, did you really see it correctly?" They began to voice out their doubts.
"Is the distance truly correct? Maybe you counted it wrong. After all, you saw them from such a high altitude."
Many speculated about the fierce beast horde.
Mo Lingfeng was also filled with doubts. "I know about the difference between distance from the sky and the real distance. So, I learned to make a rough estimation. My estimation is rarely wrong..."
He furrowed his brows. "I was sure the elephant horde was really heading in our direction, but... let me check them again."
With that, he turned to his eagle form and dashed toward the sky. He returned a few minutes later, bringing a different news. "The elephant horde is gone."
Such news was more terrifying. The enemy was in the dark, probably lurking, when they were out in the open. Moreover, elephants were such huge animals... where could they have gone?
"What should we do next?" A beastman asked.
"We can’t just stay here." Mo Lingfeng shook his head.
Zhou Yunhan agreed with him. "We should move now. Isn’t our original goal to hunt fierce beasts?"
"But, Master Xie..."
It was Fang Meilin who cut the person off. She told them solemnly, "He will be able to find us."
Zhou Yunhan’s eyes swept over her face whose expression was full of trust. He looked away, clearing his throat. "Let’s go."
With the three of them sharing the same opinion, the group finally moved again.
They found so many fierce beasts after that, mostly in fourth-order. Perfect for training targets! Because of their continuous learning, now it took less than four people whose power were at fourth rank to handle one fierce beast.
Until the night came, Xie Ziyuan still hadn’t appeared.
"Master Xie must be taking care of something right now," Fang Meilin muttered, a little unsure.
Su Yining poked her green hair, and just like her Yuanyuan, Fang Meilin instantly noticed it was her!
"Miss Owner, are you here?" She hurriedly called out to her.
Everyone perked up their ears, some openly staring at Fang Meilin while others looked away. Even if the beastmen were already aware of Su Yining’s presence, some were still on guard because of her invisibility.
Most of them had never interacted with her and there were even a few who dismissed her presence merely as a deterrence. They thought that Xie Ziyuan was just making it up to keep them in line.
Su Yining poked the female green snake’s fair arm, as if confirming her words.
"Do you know if Master Xie is safe?" Fang Meilin asked expectantly.
She had communicated with Su Yining a few times, and as such, they had formed their own code. Su Yining poked Fang Meilin’s right hand, which meant it was yes.
Currently, Yuanyuan was traversing through the forest to find the water source. She just came to check on the hunting group for a while.
Mo Lingfeng was about to open his mouth, but he ultimately refrained himself. In the end, he just sighed.
He wanted to ask Su Yining about the location of the elephant horde. However, thinking that they had come for training, it didn’t seem appropriate. Otherwise, what is the use of them entering the dangerous zone’s forest?
Until the next day, Xie Ziyuan still hadn’t returned. More and more beastmen had gotten injured, so they were forced to take a rest.
Occasionally, Du Yufei and Mo Lingfeng would turn into birds and scout from the sky. They were also looking for water sources on top of detecting possible dangers.
Somehow, the elephant horde never showed up again even after most beastmen had fallen asleep. Mo Lingfeng even wondered whether he had been hallucinating.
"Yufei, where are you?" At this moment, he was having a headache.
The little wren bird was like a husky on loose ever since he was allowed to join the scout, flying here and there. Mo Lingfeng was really worried he might get lost. After all, he recently just found out that Du Yufei’s speed was not that different from his.
He flew higher, trying to spot Du Yufei from higher altitude.
Unfortunately, he still couldn’t see him. The color of Du Yufei’s feathers was really suitable for camouflage. In the dark forest where there were many dark-colored trees, he could blend with them easily.
"Has Yufei returned?" Mo Lingfeng asked Zhou Yunhan once he was back to the group.
"Du Yufei?" Zhou Yunhan revealed a confused look. "Isn’t he with you?"
Mo Lingfeng was full of exasperation. "He was with me, but that kid was flying away. Now I don’t know where he is."
"Where was the last time you saw him?" Fang Meilin asked.
"I can show you... are we going there?" He understood her intention.
As such, the group decided to look for Du Yufei for the time being. They were always extremely cautious during the journey, making sure there were no dangers lurking around.
Lin Yu’an pursed his lips.
Leng Ting, who was walking beside him, looked visibly anxious. She stomped the ground in annoyance. "Yufei is missing? I know he is always so unreliable!"
However, not long after she uttered these words, they heard a loud, urgent chirping.
The moment they stared at the source, they visibly tensed. There was Du Yufei flying full speed in his bird form. A few gigantic elephants were chasing after him.
