Awakened: SSS Ranked Soul king-Chapter 65: Untitled
They proceeded to walk deeper and deeper into the forest, following the trail of the men of valor. Those guys, from the very first day had shown extreme competence, killing of monsters that were in all honesty way above what they should be able to kill.
This has benefited the cohort very much, but in recent days, they seemed to be becoming more clumsy, leaving off certain beasts, sloppy executions, it was an all round mess but also an indication of something else.
They were becoming weak
"That’s the third human corspe we’ve seen in the last mile," bending over the corpse of a slayer, Guilliman sighed, this guy had been ripped in half by a massive claw.
Something was definitely wrong.
"It’s getting worse," Victoria frowned, it was starting to look like her call was probably not the right one right now.
Some of the slayers had decided to stay back at the portal to build fortifications, maybe that was the right call….this was frustrating.
"Ghost can hear fighting" all of a sudden Guillimans voice sounded causing Victoria to frown even deeper.
Guilliman had sent his summon to scout ahead. It couldn’t really die and was an expert tracker like all wolves were, so sending it ahead was a good call, now it seemed to have happened upon the valor men some miles away fighting for their dear lives.
"Should we help them?" Jemie asked feeling conflicted, he didn’t like the nobles, not one bit, but they helped them get this far, plus having someone that can at least fight was better than just having them.
"Yes, that makes sense" Victoria nodded, and a moment later they all dashed forward to help the very people they were trying to avoid.
They Weaved through the forest rushing past a variety of monsters and beast without stopping, about 30 minutes later they arrived at a clearing that wasn’t a clearing.

The trees seemed to have be severed creating and open space, the surrounds were quiet, no sounds of fighting could be heard from a mile away.
"Ghost" guilliman summoned his soul beast, in other to get here fast, he had to summon it back and carry the others, except Jemie and Victoria of course. So it didn’t know what had actually transpired after.
"Check" patting it on the head, Guilliman gave it a command to scout the surrounding.
The direwolf soon started walking around sniffing at a variety of corpses and bloodstains.
The wolf was able to share its senses with Guilliman so he knew exactly what every smell and every corpse meant.
"You look disturbed" Victoria frowned watching the look on Guiliman face contort into different shades of frustration and disbelief.
"There are about 30 corpses here, half of them are human slayers" Guilliman said flatly causing everyone to grip at their hearts as a tense sensation spread through the group.
Counting from the first corpse the found till now, that was about 50 dead bodies.
The entire valor troops had been wiped out.
"I don’t think all of them died, some must have survived, but there are no traces of where they went"
Guilliman muttered, this was a Disaster, a troop of 50 high grade slayers had been killed? No this didn’t sit well with him at all.
"So you’re saying we are alone on this path?" Barthold asked a look of fear was appearing on his face.
Even his brothers spoke highly of the men of clan valor, for all of them to be wiped out in just a couple of days? This place was just too dangerous to be in.
"Yes, we are alone" guilliman seemed gloomy, their luck seemed to be very bad to end up in the middle of the harrowing forest by themselves.
Going back wasn’t even an option anymore as the blood of the already slain beasts would have attracted far more powerful ones to feast on them.
They were locked on all sides.
"Steel yourselves, we have no choice but to survive" Victoria stretched her hand out summoning a blood red curved blade
"As of this moment, we are on our own. Guilliman you’re on scout duty, you and Jemie, make sure we know what were going to face and how to kill it, before we face it. Barthold, conserve energy mode, we don’t know what we will be facing next"
"Hamdel, you’re with me" Victoria took command giving roles to everyone on the team.
They couldn’t go back, so Ravenskeep was their best option, they had to push forward, and so they did.
With Guilliman scouting with Ghost, they were able to pinpoint enemies to fight or avoid, they were able to guadge a threat and how to execute it.
Barthold used his berserk class to absorb as much energy as he could storing it in his body and using it when necessary against strong beast.
And just like that two weeks passed within the forest,
"Hey, food his ready"
From the buttom of a tree, jemies voice resounded as he called out to guilliman who was seated at the very top on a branch.
Hearing Jemies obnoxious voice, Guilliman sneered and jumbed down from the tall height, landing squarely on his feet.
"dumbass,"
"Weirdo"
As soon as both faced each other, they sneered walking towards the makeshift camp made beside a massive oak tree.
The two had developed a bit of a strange love hate relationship these past few days, both in charge of scouting, both having different methods of doing so.
For Guilliman, he disliked Jemies constant need to compare his distant approach to scouting, and for Jemie…well the exact same could only be said.
He felt like Guilliman took the fun out of scouting, even he wasn’t a scout, but at least respect the profession.
"We’re having…beast meat, as usual?" Guilliman asked Jemie, a bitter smile on his face.
Who would have thought that someday he would hate the smell of grilled meat? Too much of everything really was a joy killer.
"Yeah…but the old man isn’t cooking this time, it’s Victorias turn" Jemie too looked destroyed.
The little princess could not cook for shit, tasting her ’food’ felt more like torture than anything, yet they could not refuse.
