Became a Demon with Pregnancy System-Chapter 96: Thalindor
"I was going to hypnotize it," she admitted.
Luke stared at her.
Tanya did too.
"You were going to hypnotize the Totem Serpent?" Tanya asked slowly.
"With phonology magic?"
Elias nodded.
Luke let out a low whistle.
"Damn," he muttered. "You’ve got some serious guts."
The Totem Serpent wasn’t some ordinary beast.
Even monarch-level beings would think twice before provoking it.
For Elias to think she could put it under hypnosis was insanely ambitious.
Tanya folded her arms, studying Elias critically.
"Why do you even need to hypnotize it?" she asked.
Elias took a deep breath before answering.
"My grandfather is sick," she admitted.
"He told me that the venom of this serpent could be used to create a cure."
For the first time, Luke saw something different in Elias’s usually calm demeanor.
A hint of desperation.
A hint of vulnerability.
Even Tanya’s expression softened slightly.
After a moment, Luke let out a deep sigh.
"And if I wasn’t here, how exactly were you planning to get its venom?"
Elias hesitated.
"I would’ve... figured something out."
Luke snorted.
"That’s a terrible plan," he said bluntly.
Elias glared at him.
Tanya, meanwhile, rubbed her temples.
"This girl is trouble," she muttered under her breath.
Luke, however, turned toward the lake and raised his hand.
"Well, since you’re so desperate for some venom..."
He reached out and tapped the water’s surface a few times.
The moment his fingertips touched the lake, a pulse of energy spread across the water.
Then—
A massive ripple expanded outward.
Within moments, the serene waters of West Lake erupted.
First, three small splashes broke through the surface.
The three little Skywing Wolf cubs emerged, happily paddling toward Luke.
Then—
A massive wave hundreds of times larger followed.
The water churned violently, and an enormous shadow rose from the depths.
A thunderous roar echoed through the night.
With a mighty splash, the Totem Serpent broke through the surface, its colossal form towering over them.
Elias stared in awe, her body frozen in place.
Luke turned to her with a smirk.
"You were looking for a big snake, right?" he said.
"Well... here it is."
Elias, still staring at the massive creature, finally blinked.
"It’s... a little bigger than I expected," she admitted.
Every syllable that left Elias Vaughn’s lips carried a strange rhythm, each one slightly different from the last.
A sudden wave of exhaustion surged into Luke and Tanya Reed’s spiritual consciousness.
Their bodies grew heavy, and their minds started to blur.
Hypnosis!
Luke gritted his teeth, immediately recognizing the attack.
Even he was affected, which meant Elias wasn’t even using her full power yet—this was just a partial release of her natural ability.
Without hesitation, Luke activated his dark magic energy, wrapping a protective veil around himself and Tanya.
Slowly, their minds cleared, shaking off the hypnosis.
Tanya let out a deep breath, her forehead lightly damp with sweat.
"That’s... your phonology talent?" Luke asked, his voice laced with genuine surprise.
Even for someone with a third-level spiritual realm, Luke had still felt the effect of her magic.
If someone with a weaker mental defense had been caught in that sonic field, they would have been helpless.
Hell, if Elias used this ability at full strength, she could probably incapacitate dozens of high-level mages in an instant.
Elias nodded calmly, as if her power was nothing special.
"If I use it at full strength," she explained, "I could make that big snake fall asleep for about a minute."
"But the price is steep. If I use it at max output, my phonology magic energy will be drained completely. I’d be no different from an ordinary person for a while."
Her voice was calm, but Luke could tell—this was her greatest secret.
Luke fell into silence, his eyes narrowing as he studied Elias carefully.
Was this girl really that naïve?
She had just freely revealed her most powerful ability, one that even he struggled to resist.
Did she really think it was safe to share that kind of information with someone like him?
That is... unless she trusted him.
Or perhaps, she was just too innocent.
If it were someone else, Luke thought darkly, they’d probably try to use her power for themselves.
Elias might have been lucky that she ran into him.
Because all he wanted... was her body—and a few children.
But other people?
They might have far worse intentions.
However, there was another question that gnawed at Luke’s mind.
Her grandfather.
The old man knew about the Totem Serpent’s molting period.
That kind of inside knowledge was supposed to be confidential.
Even within the Totem Guardian circle, only a select few had access to that kind of classified information.
Luke turned to Tanya.
"Tanya, do we have any older generation guardians still alive?"
Tanya’s expression shifted, her brows furrowing in thought.
She, too, was shocked that Elias knew about the serpent’s molting period.
That knowledge was not something an outsider should possess.
"No," Tanya said slowly. "At least, not that I know of." 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
She turned to Elias.
"Who exactly is your grandfather?" she demanded.
"How does he know so much about the Totem Serpent?"
Elias didn’t answer immediately.
Instead, she simply tilted her head to the side, exposing the pale curve of her neck, giving Luke an arrogant look, as if saying—
Why should I tell you?
Luke chuckled.
"She’s got a backbone, I’ll give her that."
Luke exhaled, deciding to take a different approach.
"Elias, where is your grandfather now?" he asked.
"If he’s really sick, we can find a better healing mage. There’s no need to use the Totem Serpent’s venom to make a Poison Technique cure."
"You probably don’t understand how deadly this thing is. Even a single drop of that snake’s venom could wipe out all of Skandia."
Elias’s expression didn’t change.
She simply replied:
"He’s in Thalindor. My village is there."
Her tone was matter-of-fact, as if this information wasn’t shocking.
But it was.
Luke froze.
