Becoming a God Starts with Acting-Chapter 372: Asking Questions
Silvanus spent nearly an hour bathing Vivian, and he didn’t forget to warn her, "If you dare play in the mud again, don’t even think about sleeping on the bed."
Vivian felt utterly innocent and pitiful. Play in the mud? What nonsense? It had clearly been out looking for breakfast!
It sniffled twice, then turned its head away, determined not to look at Silvanus anymore.
Silvanus couldn’t help giving it two light pats, amused. "Well, well. Not only do you refuse to admit your mistake, but you’re also sulking. Truly, indulgence creates spoiled brats."
Vivian: "..." Vivian had nothing left to say. It simply shut its eyes and pretended to sleep.
Silvanus didn’t bother with it further. His mind was on his own future—on what awaited him after obtaining Hobbit’s legacy.
The farther one traveled from the human capital, the more chaotic everything became—not only because of the darkness, but also due to poverty.
People there didn’t just have to feed themselves; they also had to offer tributes to receive protection from the powers above.
The human territories had no king—only noble factions and the Church. And Lumina was an independent force outside all of that, entirely governed by the headmaster of each generation. That was why commoners still had a chance to join Lumina, whereas most other academies never granted commoners the same rights as nobles.
Silvanus had witnessed countless people suffering, countless families destroyed by the sudden attacks of shadow creatures.
He, too, had been attacked—left battered and close to death—so he wanted to become someone capable of protecting himself and protecting the weak.
But he knew this path wouldn’t be simple. Mainly because the rise of a commoner could threaten the power of the nobles.
He needed money and influence—things he currently did not have. Silvanus had thought his path would be long and complex, but now, Hobbit’s legacy was giving him an answer.
The tools created by Hobbit, coveted by all... and now he could make such things.
The first step toward building a power of his own was opening up before him!
And of course, the very first thing was to create a Sentinel—a high-level Sentinel!
Silvanus recalled Drake’s lifelike form, indistinguishable from a living person. He would create a Sentinel just like that!
With his decision made, Silvanus wasted no time. He had a forge within his own body—whenever he focused his mind, he could enter that place and create whatever he wished there.
Alden had said this was Silvanus’s own unique ability. Alden possessed the same ability, as Silvanus had already seen when he first met Alden. That place was not a separate realm at all, but merely Alden’s personal forge. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Silvanus had also asked before whether he had any connection to the Hobbit race, and why he was able to awaken Hobbit blood. But the answer had never come.
Alden always said things like it’s not yet time to reveal fate.
The next morning, Silvanus—having been so excited the previous day—had spent the entire night forging a Sentinel. His eyes were red, though thankfully no dark circles had appeared yet. Still, he looked unreasonably cheerful.
Matthew couldn’t help showing concern. "Silvanus, are you alright?"
Silvanus nodded. "Of course I’m fine. I’m working hard for our future!"
Matthew froze for a moment. Our future?
The Outer God sensed Matthew’s wavering thoughts and grew irritated.
It was always like this—this incarnation of his was always shaken by a few simple words from Silvanus. How laughable. Evil born from the egg, wanting to become righteous.
But it was useless. The malice and jealousy rooted deep in Matthew’s blood would not vanish because of a moment’s hesitation. With the slightest push from outside, it would surge back stronger than before.
Just then, Walther suddenly appeared. He looked at Silvanus and said coldly, "Silvanus, come to the headmaster’s office."
Before Silvanus could even ask why, Walther vanished again, beginning his lecture.
What had happened? Why was Walther treating him worse than before?
Silvanus reassured Matthew a little, then left.
The moment he saw the people inside the headmaster’s office, Silvanus understood.
Sylus wore his usual red coat, his expression stern. The headmaster still wore his gentle smile.
When he saw Silvanus enter, the headmaster immediately smiled. "Ah, Silvanus. Sylus is here to report on your and Nana’s expedition, but it seems quite a few interesting things have occurred."
Footsteps came from behind. Silvanus looked back and saw Nana standing there with her usual arrogance.
She hadn’t been in class earlier—Silvanus had thought she’d skipped.
Nana looked at him, about to speak, but Silvanus had already stepped aside.
She could only glare at him and enter the room.
After brief greetings, Sylus got straight to the point. His gaze was fixed directly on Silvanus. "Student Silvanus, according to Nana’s account, we know the two of you reached another underground city. However, according to all the routes humanity has ever discovered in the Relics of the Hobbit, none lead deeper underground. May we know how you activated the gate to reach that place? This is extremely important for all of humanity. We ask that you answer truthfully."
Silvanus lowered his gaze at those words, his expression tinged with hesitation and regret. In the end, he spoke helplessly: "I’m truly sorry, Mr. Sylus, but I really don’t remember anything. I only accidentally touched the ground, and then I disappeared. There were grooves down there at the time... didn’t you see them?"
Sylus frowned. Of course, he hadn’t seen any grooves.
From the side, Nana suddenly spoke up: "At that time, Silvanus really was just fumbling around on the ground." Then she glanced at Silvanus. "He must’ve just gotten lucky."
Silvanus fell silent. Great job, Nana. Please continue showcasing your brilliance.
Sylus looked at Nana, then back at Silvanus. "Then what about after Nana and Mira got out? What did you do down there to survive?"
Silvanus couldn’t help but be a little surprised. It seemed Nana hadn’t told Sylus that the Sentinels never actively attacked him.
However, his expression didn’t change at all on the surface. He replied softly, "I accidentally touched a groove on the ground again, and then I was brought out."
He scratched his head, looking somewhat foolish. "Maybe those grooves appear randomly. You can station people there to keep watch. Who knows—maybe one will show up again..."
Sylus frowned. He had the feeling Silvanus was deliberately saying this. He opened his mouth, about to speak, when the headmaster beside them cut in: "Alright. My student has already told you everything, and even offered you a solution. What more are you dissatisfied with, Cardinal Sylus?"
Hearing the headmaster’s solemn tone, Sylus knew he couldn’t press further.
His expression cold, he looked at Silvanus’s innocent face, then at Nana’s arrogant one. In the end, all he could do was shake his head in resignation.
