Chapter 294: White Star

The instructor smiled upon hearing Alex’s question and answered.

"Hmm, that would be a difficult one since he already knows my face and the location of this hideout. Letting him go just like that would be difficult.

Of course, it’ll be an entirely different story if he follows your lead and joins the dark Union as well. Otherwise, he can become your first servant. I mean them." The instructor said and pointed at the dark beasts at the end of his sentence.

Alex and Eric instantly understood what he meant. Alex remained calm, but Eric’s expression became even uglier.

"I’ll never become a member of the Dark Union. Alex, don’t listen to him!" the boy voiced out.

"I understand," Alex said calmly, and the next moment, his hand suddenly moved with remarkable speed that exceeded what a Core rank mage could follow, and he hit the back of Eric’s head with the side of his palm.

Thud!

Eric didn’t know what happened before his vision turned dark and he dropped to the ground, unconscious. Alex had made sure to control his strength, he didn’t want to accidentally kill the boy.

He didn’t stop there, he walked over to the woman and knocked her out as well.

Alex’s sudden action surprised the instructor and the other members of the Dark Union, they didn’t expect him to suddenly knock his friend out when he was trying to save him just a while ago.

They assumed that Alex had decided to turn Eric into his first dark beast since the kid was bent on not wanting to join the Dark Union. But since they were friends, he couldn’t do it with Eric being conscious which was why he had knocked Eric out.

As for why he also knocked out the woman, they couldn’t tell. They assumed he just didn’t want her to witness something horrible.

"A wise choice. Do not worry, you won’t regret this decision for as long as you live." The instructor said with a wide smile.

"What do I have to do now?" Alex asked calmly, seemingly resigned to his fate.

"Haha, you just have to complete the initiation ritual and get your new name after your baptism. I’ll leave that to them while I return to the university first before my absence becomes suspicious." The instructor laughed as he made his way towards the corridor behind Alex and the unconscious Eric.

The others in yellow robes were left behind to complete Alex’s initiation ritual.

The one amongst them who was at the Master mage rank stepped forward after the instructor left to address Alex.

"After today, you’ll become a member of the Dark Union and start as a Disciple.

You have to work hard and work your way up the ranks, of course, and following the right lord will be very helpful.

Since I’ll be taking care of your imitation and of a higher rank than you, you’ll be a Disciple under me.

There are certain rules in the Dark Union which you must obey at all costs." The figure said and raised one of his hands before bringing out a finger.

"Never reveal your identity as a member of the Dark Union to anyone, not even your family.

Never reveal the identity of fellow members no matter what.

Always obey orders from those higher than you, no matter how absurd it might sound, refusing to listen to orders is unforgivable...."

The figure went on for the next few minutes, stating a list of rules of the Dark Union that Alex didn’t bother trying to remember. The only one that caught his interest was the rule to commit suicide upon getting captured and not being able to escape.

’The Dark Union is really cruel, even to their own people.’ Alex thought. All of the rules had the punishment of death upon violation, there was no such thing as a light punishment in the Dark Union.

After stating the rules, the figure finally stated the initiation. He told Alex to come close and to take off his shirt. Alex followed his instructions and took off his shirt, revealing his bare upper body.

The figure lifted one hand and began to draw something on Alex’s left chest. He explained to Alex that this was called the marking, and every member of the Dark Union had it.

It was their official identification as members of the Dark Union. Alex was already aware of this and said nothing, what the figure was doing was a marking formation and was confident that he could easily undo it.

After some time, the mark was finally finished and disappeared, making Alex’s skin look normal.

The figure explained that the mark would show if mana made contact with that place.

Since Alex had now finally received his mark, it was time for the baptism and new naming. Unsurprisingly, another formation needed to be made and this time, it was a large one on the ground which Alex was told to stand in its middle.

"You are free to select your new name, it’ll be your code name and how you’ll be identified as a member of the Dark Union." The figure explained.

Alex looked at the formation on the ground. He could tell that it was a recording formation but some parts looked too complex for him to clearly understand.

After standing for a bit in silence, Alex opened his mouth and mumbled.

"White Star,"

Immediately after calling out his new name, the formation under his feet let out a burst of light before dimming; it was as if nothing happened.

"Your new name will now be White Star and has been recorded in the register of the Dark Union, you’re now an official member." The figure said to Alex.

"There are millions of members in the Dark Union, and it’s impossible for everyone to know each other. If you ever run into someone and suspect them to be one of us, use the secret code.

The descent of a God. If they understand, they’ll reply with their new name. If not, you’re free to kill them or just move on.

Now, for the final part." The figure said and looked at the unconscious Eric and then the woman. "Creating your first Dark beasts, they’ll be your loyal servants and listen to every command you give without hesitation. You can use them as you like, just don’t get caught because we won’t cover for you."

Alex nodded and then looked at the transformation pool that was bubbling like black magma. He had witnessed the process of turning humans into dark beasts before so he knew what was going to happen next.

Instead of proceeding normally, Alex suddenly turned and faced the group of yellow robes with an evil grin.

"Actually, I have something else in mind." He muttered.

"Oh, what is it? The lord has a good impression of you so we’ll help you as much as we can." The Master rank mage replied.

’He only became a member today but his evil desires are already surfacing. Indeed, everyone’s evil and just need the opportunity to show it.’ the mage added in his thoughts, thinking that Alex was planning to do something terrible to Eric or the unconscious woman.

"How about I kill all of you instead?" Alex said, maintaining the disturbing smile on his face.

The yellow robes "..."

"What, did you say?" The Master mage, amongst the yellow robes, asked in doubt.

Alex’s smile widened as his eyes turned silver white.

"I mean this!" He voiced out and the next instance, silver white stars appeared in front of him and instantly connected into two star patterns.

Alex only needed to think about the spell and several space bullets instantly shot out towards some of the yellow robes who were only at the Expert mage rank.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Alex’s action attack had been too abrupt and had caught the figures off guard; five of them were instantly killed by the space bullets, with bloody holes appearing on their bodies almost instantly.

The rest of the yellow robes were shocked but quickly reacted.

"What the hell do you think you’re doing?!" The Master rank mage shouted as mana exploded from his body and sent weak shockwaves from under his feet.

The others had already summoned their stars and were ready to attack Alex.

Alex looked at them thoughtfully, his smile not fading even at this point.

"Looks like I’ll have to deal with you all quickly, can’t have you making a scene here," Alex said, giving up the idea of slowly killing them, as that would leave behind signs of a fight.

Alex wanted this place to remain as it was so he would sound more believable when he told the instructor that he knew nothing about these people’s disappearance.

"Kill him," the Master rank mage amongst the yellow robes ordered at this moment, no matter caring about what his lord would think.

The others immediately started connecting their stars, about to launch spells at Alex. The dark beasts at the back also lunged at Alex, their long arms reaching out to him.

Alex’s grin deepened when he saw this, his eyes turning silver white.
