Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord-Chapter 253: Gabriel’s mistake (3)
Chapter 253: Gabriel’s mistake (3)
Gabriel walked over to Morgana’s side so he could see the state she was in. "Are you hurt, princess?"
Morgana rolled her eyes. Out of everyone she could have been stuck beside, why did it have to be this man?
"I am a pureblood. I will heal from anything he tries to do to me. You should be more concerned about yourself. It already reeks of blood here, but now I am forced to smell your blood. How long does it take you creatures to heal?" Morgana asked, scrunching up her nose.
Morgana wished Xavier would just kill Gabriel instead of wasting space.
"It will take long before I am healed unless I am seen by a palace doctor," said Gabriel.
Morgana laughed at Gabriel thinking he would be treated in the palace. Darius would never allow it.
Morgana wiped the tears from her eyes. "You didn’t get to know my brother well. I hope you aren’t thinking my brother will rescue you. If my brother comes, it will only be to get he takes. You are useless since you lost to Xavier, and your body smells like it is rotting."
"I am now the captain of the town guards, princess. I am no longer just the hero you heard of, and I am working close to the king. I am helping him with a great task," Gabriel said, not taking Morgana’s words to heart since she wasn’t around him enough.
Morgana looked around the dungeon Gabriel found himself alongside her. "When my brother gave you a task, trust and believe the moment you ended up here, you became someone he wanted to dispose of. You don’t know him."
Morgana closed her eyes, trying to get some sleep. She quickly grew tired of speaking to Gabriel. She was only grateful for his presence here so Xavier could focus on Gabriel and leave her alone.
"I know the king wouldn’t come only for me, but he wouldn’t leave me behind once he notices I am here. I have something he must hear concerning the attacks. If the king is successful in reaching you, you must promise to take me with you," said Gabriel.
"Very well," Morgana agreed, but she didn’t intend to keep the promise.
Gabriel started to have a little faith that he could get out of this alive. There was still hope for him after all.
With the princess by his side, Gabriel went back to looking around the dungeon. He counted how many guards were present and searched for ways out.
He wasn’t destined to die like this. There were still great things for him to achieve and be applauded for.
Morgana sighed, annoyed by all the noise Gabriel was making. She should be grateful to not only be hearing the sounds being made by rats, but somehow, Gabriel was even more annoying than the filthy creatures.
"There isn’t a way out, so please sit and wait for when he returns. I have had trouble going to sleep, but I managed to do it just before they brought you here. I need to rest," Morgana said, on the verge of snapping if she didn’t get to sleep.
She was already craving blood and Xavier was so cruel to offer blood which tasted like it came from an animal.
This was only the beginning for Gabriel, so it wasn’t fair he was bothering her.
Gabriel stood still. The princess was foolish not to search for ways out of the dungeon. "It is the two of us now," he whispered.
Morgana opened her eyes. "Whispering isn’t useful and why does it matter if there are two of us? I am not going to help you with any plan you come up with. I am going to sit here quietly until someone outside comes for me. I suggest you do the same."
Between the two of them, Morgana believed it was more likely Gabriel would die first. She acted as Selene, but Gabriel was once married to her. Xavier’s jealousy would get the best of him.
Gabriel didn’t want to just wait around. He was already dying slowly because his wound wouldn’t heal. He didn’t have days like the princess to wait. "We can’t do anything. We should think of a way to get out of here." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
"From the moment you got up and made a lot of noise, the guards have been watching you, but you have been too busy talking to notice it. How are you to plot an escape when they are all watching you? Were you going to slip me paper? Are you going to use your blood to write?" Morgana wondered, humoring Gabriel. "No?"
Gabriel didn’t appreciate Morgana killing the hope he was creating for them.
"Take a moment to look around. The cells reek of blood, and the guards have started to sharpen their weapons. They are all waiting for you to make a move. If you sit quietly, they won’t send for Xavier, and he won’t come to torture you. Please let me rest," Morgana said, closing her eyes again.
Gabriel looked at the guards and noticed they were picking out weapons. He sat back down and tried to think of what to do next instead of whispering to Morgana.
Now that he calmed down, Gabriel noticed how disgusting the dungeon was. It had to be here that Xavier killed everyone the town guards had been searching for. It smelled like it wasn’t that long since someone had been killed here.
’If I can get out of here and inspect who he killed, I’ll be fine,’ Gabriel thought.
The dungeon contained everything he needed to prove that Xavier was going around killing others.
Gabriel didn’t get the chance to enjoy his new plan as the pain persisted. He needed Selene. He had made it inside the estate, so he was more likely to see her here.
Gabriel considered shouting in hopes of Selene overhearing him, but after a second thought, he knew the dungeon wouldn’t allow their voices to be heard outside of it. It was how Xavier kept his dirty business hidden.
"Has Selene come down here? Even if it was just once," said Gabriel.
"If she had come down here, I would have found a way to kill myself so she wouldn’t find me in this state. I told you to be quiet now. You’re going to get us both in trouble," Morgana said, wishing she could fit through the bars to kill Gabriel.
How long did she have to put up with this fool?
Morgana’s attention soon went to the one entrance where Xavier entered. She knew this wasn’t going to be good.
