Billionaire's Long Journey of Chasing His Love-Chapter 246 - 234: There’s a Bandit at Home (Second Release)
"Is someone inside?" Yi Luowa looked suspiciously at Tong Airui.
Tong Airui chuckled, "Go in and you’ll find out."
Yi Luowa let go of his hand and gently pushed the door open.
"Hello, darling!" A brilliantly colorful macaw was hopping happily on its perch.
Yi Luowa looked at it, and her eyes immediately narrowed with a laughing curve, "Hello, little one!"
"You’re so beautiful!"
"Haha... you’re beautiful too! What’s your name?"
"Bandit!"
Yi Luowa almost laughed herself silly. Who was the creative genius that gave such a stunning parrot such a ridiculous name?
Bandit bounced around for a while and then stopped, staring at Yi Luowa with its big round eyes. Suddenly, it blurted out, "Hey babe, give me a smile!"
"Pfft!" Yi Luowa burst out laughing.
Tong Airui frowned slightly and turned to Dapeng, "Who taught it these words?"
"Definitely Old Dao." Dapeng flicked Bandit’s head playfully, "Bandit, what nonsense have you learned from Old Dao? I’m warning you! Rein in your bandit vibe!"
"Get on your knees!" Bandit suddenly commanded in a fierce tone.
"Haha... this is hilarious!" Yi Luowa laughed as she stroked its gorgeous feathers, "Our Bandit is a good child. No more cursing in the future, okay?"
"Hey babe, give me a smile!" Bandit said again.
"Dapeng, send it to the kitchen and stew it!" Tong Airui regretted grabbing this obnoxious parrot from Old Dao; it couldn’t say anything decent.
"Damn it!" Bandit glared cautiously at Tong Airui.
Tong Airui walked over with a dark look, "You’re still swearing at me?"
Bandit immediately shrank its neck.
"Haha... so amusing!" Yi Luowa laughed and stroked Bandit again.
Tong Airui ruffled her hair, "We’ll eat it tonight, and I’ll buy you a parrot that doesn’t curse tomorrow, okay?"
"I want this one." Yi Luowa saw he was serious and quickly clung to his arm, "I’ll teach it. It’ll stop cursing soon."
"One month. If you curse again by then, I’m eating you!" Tong Airui raised a hand and patted Bandit’s head.
Bandit sulked, not daring to lift its head.
Dapeng looked at it with amusement before asking, "Fourth Brother, are you and Sister-in-law cooking here or having them make it over there and deliver it?"
"Just deliver it here today. When your Sister-in-law starts living here permanently, we’ll cook ourselves."
"Alright, I’ll go notify them." Dapeng found an excuse and bolted.
After Dapeng left, Tong Airui showed Yi Luowa around the villa. Although Tong Airui didn’t stay here often, everything was perfectly equipped and warmly decorated.
Tong Airui asked Yi Luowa if there was anything she didn’t like, but Yi Luowa immediately shook her head, "I think it’s all great, no need to change anything." 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
Tong Airui laughed, "You’re so easy to please!"
"Airui, I’m a bit worried."
"Worried about what?" Tong Airui pulled her to sit on the couch.
Yi Luowa glanced around, "We’re just dating right now; I’m not considered part of your family. If I stay here, will it affect you?"
Tong Airui laughed as soon as he heard this, "I call the shots here. Whoever I want to live here can live here. Who cares what they think!"
"Maybe they can’t control you, but don’t you think you should mind the optics?"
"No concerns at all!" Tong Airui paused briefly, "If you’re worried, how about we go get married right now?"
"I’m only nineteen. Can I get married legally?" Yi Luowa pouted slightly, lamenting that she wasn’t born a few years earlier.
"Then what do we do?" Tong Airui asked with a teasing smile.
Yi Luowa looked conflicted, "How about you give me a dorm room at the car plant?"
"There are only male dorms over there, no female ones." Tong Airui lifted her onto his lap and gently nibbled on her ear. "You’re not part of the Divine Eagle team yet, so technically, you don’t have a place anywhere. You can only stay here."
"Then I’ll visit less often." Yi Luowa lowered her gaze, grabbing his large hand and inspecting it carefully. "You worked hard today, but luckily your hands didn’t get blisters."
"These are hands that have handled guns for years. How could they be so delicate?" Tong Airui chuckled, "Wife, I discussed last night with Old Dao. He said it’s typical for the first time to be nerve-wracking and unsuccessful."
Yi Luowa stared at him with her big black eyes, not blinking, "Are you stupid? How could you share that with someone else!"
Tong Airui retorted indignantly, "I told him it was my friend; I didn’t say it was me."
Yi Luowa jabbed his forehead in annoyance, "You—smart most of the time but foolish sometimes. Who’d believe that ’a friend’ nonsense? Even a fool knows you’re talking about yourself."
Tong Airui laughed, "Even if he knows, I’m not losing out. He said he and his wife needed four tries before it worked..."
"Loser!" Bandit threw a disdainful look.
"Oh, you’re not a loser? Then you show us how it’s done!" Tong Airui hurled a pillow at it.
Bandit fluttered its wings to avoid the pillow but got yanked back by the chain on its foot.
"Why even keep this useless bird!" Tong Airui grumbled, ready to stand.
Yi Luowa quickly looped her arms around his neck, "It doesn’t matter what it knows; isn’t it enough that I know you’re not a loser?"
Tong Airui glanced at Bandit again, "Take it outside for now; it’s getting in the way!"
"How’s it getting in your way?"
Tong Airui pursed his lips, "Old Dao gave me ’educational materials.’ Let’s review them together after dinner."
"Old Dao’s a filthy dog!" Bandit interjected again.
Tong Airui and Yi Luowa exchanged glances and burst out laughing simultaneously, "This bird really can’t stay."
"Just be careful what you say in its presence." Yi Luowa smiled, "It’s like a little parroted child; I’ll train it properly later."
Tong Airui picked her up, "Let’s go upstairs to talk so it doesn’t pick up anything else."
Grabbing his briefcase, he carried Yi Luowa upstairs.
Once upstairs, Tong Airui set Yi Luowa onto the bed and pulled two DVDs from his briefcase, "Training materials!"
Yi Luowa glanced at them, "These aren’t the same ones Dumb Xuan gave you, are they?"
"How about we check them out now?" Tong Airui seemed eager.
Yi Luowa pointed outside, "It’s still broad daylight. Aren’t you worried someone might see?"
"No one comes here. You can rest easy."
Just as Tong Airui finished speaking, his phone rang.
Yi Luowa covered her mouth to laugh, "Nobody comes, but they sure can still call you."
Tong Airui answered impatiently, "Deputy Captain Colin, what’s up?"
"I heard you’re staying at the villa now. There’s something not fit for the office that I want to discuss. Can I come over?" Colin’s voice was booming, loud enough that Yi Luowa, lying on the bed, could hear every word clearly.
"Not convenient," Tong Airui replied bluntly.
Colin laughed heartily over the phone, "Young rascal, I know your partner’s here. I just need three to five minutes of your time. I’m actually standing outside your courtyard now, but these guards won’t let me in. Can you come down?"
Tong Airui walked to the window and glanced down, seeing Colin indeed outside, "I’ll be right there."
Colin had claimed three to five minutes, but his visit dragged on until Dapeng arrived with dinner.
Yi Luowa was so bored she fell asleep, and if Tong Airui hadn’t come up to wake her for dinner, she could’ve slept until morning.
"Did he leave?" Yi Luowa rubbed her sleepy eyes.
"Yeah, that stubborn old guy rambled on until just now," Tong Airui smiled wryly, "Let me carry you down for dinner."
"I can walk myself." Yi Luowa pulled her hair into a bun before getting out of bed, "When I hadn’t slept yet, I thought you two were arguing."
"That’s just his temperament—cold words, warm heart; he came to remind me about Deputy Captain Ruan." Tong Airui opened the door and held her hand as they stepped out.
"That old fox?"
"Yep."
"You said this place runs by your rules. That old fox doesn’t look trustworthy; why not fire him?"
Tong Airui raised his eyebrows slightly, "Have you considered that there’s a reason I hate him but haven’t fired him?"
"It’s because he has a daughter who’s a doctor, and you’re interested in her." Yi Luowa teased him, bursting into giggles at his instant scowl, "I’ve thought about it too—from the Gao Can I saw on my first visit, to Deputy Captain Ruan, and that ’Scorpion’ you mentioned. They’re all tied to King Muta, aren’t they?"
Tong Airui smiled, "Keep going."
"Just guessing here. I know Dad and King Muta are as close as brothers, but Dad is the Prime Minister, and you control the most powerful Divine Eagle force in Xiawu. No matter how close brothers are, King Muta still needs to be on guard. That’s all I’ll say. Any more could be crossing a line." Yi Luowa laughed, hopping down the stairs step by step.
Tong Airui watched her playful demeanor and chuckled, "Luowa, what else can you see? Tell me everything."
"I’ve only been in Xiawu for a few days. Whatever little I understand, you and Dad already grasp fully. Airui, I’ll just say this: we should stay low-profile and minimize giving others excuses against us. And when it doesn’t harm your own interests, delegating power might help. Lastly, learn from that old fox—people who kill often do so with a smile. But, that last part neither you nor Dad will achieve, because you’re both passionate men."
Tong Airui grabbed her hand, "What about you? Can you follow the last rule?"
Yi Luowa had to stop, looking up at him, "I can’t either. Uncle always says that I wear my thoughts openly on my face. Seems like we both need more practice."
