Chapter 247: Chapter 235: Have You Been Obsessed These Days? (Third Update)

Yi Luowa smiled and scratched his palm playfully, "Have you been bewitched these past few days? You keep harping on the same topic."

"Did I?" Tong Airui responded with a grin.

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and dragged him downstairs, "Huh? Where’s Bandit?"

The golden macaw was gone, and Yi Luowa’s heart immediately jumped to her throat. He couldn’t have really cooked it, could he?!

"I was talking to Colin earlier. Afraid it might pick up bad habits from listening, I had someone take it outside," Tong Airui replied with a hint of unease. His wife’s attention was already shifting, which wasn’t a good sign.

Uneasy, Yi Luowa decided to go out and have a look. She found Bandit happily bouncing under the grape trellis and, reassured, returned to the house.

Tong Airui was sitting in the dining room waiting for her. When she came back in, he quickly handed her a pair of chopsticks, "Eat up. After dinner, we’ll head upstairs to study."

Yi Luowa shot him a coquettish glance. He always had this way of casually turning the conversation towards such topics.

Tong Airui chuckled. Though his words seemed pressing, in reality, he wasn’t in that much of a hurry. He wanted to give her time—this matter had to proceed at its own pace.

After dinner, he took her for a stroll around the courtyard. It wasn’t until dusk that they returned to their room.

Things had been fine outside, but the moment they stepped into the room, Yi Luowa inexplicably started feeling nervous.

Tong Airui noticed her fiddling with her fingers and smiled as he ruffled her hair, "Scared?"

Yi Luowa pouted, "Scared of what?"

"If you’re not scared, then why don’t you dare look at me?"

"Who says I’m scared!" Yi Luowa shot up from her seat, "It’s just looking at the teaching materials! Let’s go!"

Tong Airui burst into laughter and took her hand as they headed upstairs.

If we’re talking about the cable TV’s selections, it surely took things to the next level. As soon as Tong Airui turned on the screen, scenes not suitable for children popped up.

Yi Luowa’s face flushed crimson all the way to her ears.

As for Master Tong, he remained calm. He squinted slightly at the screen and, after a moment, chuckled, "Watching these two reminds me of my brother and sister-in-law."

Yi Luowa grabbed a pillow and hurled it at him, "Tong Airui! Watch if you want to, but why drag my brother and sister-in-law into this!"

Tong Airui caught the pillow effortlessly and joked, "Don’t you think their outfits have similar colors?"

"Stop watching it!" Yi Luowa turned her face away. Her eyes couldn’t see the screen anymore, but the voices coming from it were like little hooks, scratching at her heart one tug at a time.

"I’m probably the reason you can’t watch comfortably. I’ll go take a shower, and you can focus on studying," Tong Airui said, setting the pillow down and heading to the bathroom.

Listening to the sound of running water, Yi Luowa’s cheeks grew even redder. She quickly got up and turned off the TV. At that moment, she felt an urge to run, but her legs refused to obey.

Yi Luowa flopped onto the bed, her hands slowly moving to cover her flushed face.

The bathroom door creaked open, and Yi Luowa sat bolt upright, startled. Tong Airui walked out, wrapped in a towel, "Such a great learning opportunity wasted. What a shame."

Yi Luowa looked at him and swallowed hard.

"Why don’t you go take a shower?" Tong Airui asked, a mischievous smile tugging at his lips.

Forcing herself to look away, Yi Luowa marched to the bathroom like a brave little warrior heading off to battle.

Tong Airui pulled back the covers and climbed into bed. The night was still early; he had time to take things slow with her.

Moments later, Yi Luowa ran back out. "Tong Airui, are you insane?! Why did you submerge the bathrobe in water?"

"It hasn’t been used in ages—thought it might not be clean," came his perfectly logical reply.

"Then what am I supposed to wear after my shower?" Yi Luowa muttered, her face burning red.

"How about I lend you this towel?" Tong Airui teased, gesturing as if to remove the towel at his waist.

Yi Luowa darted back into the bathroom, thinking to herself about his underwear sitting in the storage box. If he gave her the towel, then... inside...

"Ten minutes. If you don’t come out, I’m coming in," Tong Airui said, lounging on the bed with deliberate ease. "Don’t think locking the door will save you—you know door locks are just decorative for me."

After hesitating for a moment, Yi Luowa reluctantly withdrew her hand from the door lock.

With ten minutes on the clock, she finished her shower in eight, undeterred by the lack of a bathrobe. She simply emerged in the same clothes she had on earlier.

Tong Airui did a double take. He had expected her to struggle over the missing bathrobe, but instead, she came out like this. Still, he smiled in satisfaction, "Not bad, you’ve got a good sense of time management. I’ll give you a verbal compliment for that."

Yi Luowa pursed her lips and ignored him.

Tong Airui patted the bed and said, "Come here."

After hesitating for a moment, Yi Luowa walked over, then sat facing away from him, leaving a faint, ambiguous gap between her back and Tong Airui’s chest.

Tong Airui leaned forward until his chest pressed against her back, leaving only a sliver of distance between his lips and her ear. "It’s just the two of us here."

Yi Luowa jolted reflexively, jumping to her feet only to be pulled back by the wrist, landing back on the bed and into his arms. Tong Airui’s arm locked securely around her waist, preventing her from escaping.

Yi Luowa turned her head anxiously.

Hot breath grazed her nose. "Don’t want this?"

Yi Luowa tilted her head slightly and asked, "Tong Airui, are you sure no one will come knocking again?"

Tong Airui looked at her slightly lowered lashes and the soft pink lips below them. His expression suddenly changed.

"Tong Airui..."

"Shh—" Tong Airui murmured as he lowered his head and kissed her lips. The two of them slowly fell onto the bed...

The bathroom mirror’s light remained on.

Yi Luowa sat weakly by the edge of the bathtub, leaning against the wall.

Tong Airui reached over to open the faucet and adjust the temperature.

She unintentionally noticed scratch marks on Tong Airui’s arm.

Yi Luowa glanced down at her own hands. She’d clearly trimmed her nails...

Steam began to rise gradually as Tong Airui extended his hand through the mist. Yi Luowa nearly jumped out of her skin, retreating to press herself tightly against the wall.

Tong Airui leaned closer, guilt softening his expression as he gently ruffled her hair. "It’s my fault. It won’t happen again next time."

Yi Luowa sniffled, her voice trembling as she said, "There won’t be a next time!"

Tong Airui crouched down and cupped her small face, planting a remorseful kiss on her delicate lips. The faint taste of blood lingered between them; she had bitten her lip so hard that it bled just to stifle her cries.

"Let me help you with your bath," Tong Airui said softly, quickly and carefully cleaning her up. Then, stepping out of the tub, he carried her in his arms.

Wrapped in the sole clean towel, Yi Luowa stood in the middle of the bedroom, staring blankly at Tong Airui’s busying figure.

The bed was in complete disarray, and his wife adamantly refused to climb onto it. He quickly set about tidying up, especially after noticing that her legs were trembling.

With military precision, Tong Airui replaced the bed sheets and turned to scoop her onto the bed.

Yi Luowa silently observed him. He wasn’t the same devil from earlier, but she still couldn’t shake her fear of him.

"Tong Airui, I’m thirsty," she said while turning her face away.

Tong Airui immediately went to fetch water, but when he brought it to her, she didn’t take a single sip. Instead, she frowned and said, "Tong Airui, I’m hungry."

Setting down the cup, Tong Airui propped himself on the bed and asked, "What would you like to eat? I can have someone make it for you."

Yi Luowa puffed her cheeks and glared at him, "I want something you made!"

"Alright, I’ll make it. What do you want?"

His accommodating attitude made Yi Luowa hesitate to push him further, but remembering how he had tormented her earlier, she pouted and asked, "Can you even cook?"

"You underestimate me?" Tong Airui chuckled, pinching her cheek. "I can make most dishes. I just haven’t had much opportunity."

Yi Luowa stared at him for a good five seconds before saying, "Make me some noodles."

"Your demands are modest," Tong Airui replied with a smile. He tucked her in, put on his clothes, and hurried downstairs.

Yi Luowa grabbed the blanket, burying her face beneath it. Soon, muffled laughter emerged from under the covers. "That’ll teach you to mess with me—I’ll find a way to mess with you too."

Tong Airui understood perfectly that this was her way of punishing him for earlier. At this moment, even if she asked him to cook noodles or kneel on instant noodles, he’d gladly oblige.

Watching the bubbling pot, his thoughts drifted back to earlier moments. Tong Airui suddenly understood why his father never left his mother’s side.

The tomato and egg noodles were finally ready. Tong Airui sprinkled some cilantro on top, creating a colorful, appetizing dish. He sniffed it—smelled pretty good too.

Carrying the bowl upstairs, he opened the bedroom door, only to be greeted by the sight of his wife sound asleep, half her calf still exposed beneath the blanket.

Tong Airui quickly set the bowl down, adjusted the air conditioning to a higher temperature, and gently slipped under the covers beside her.

That night, he didn’t close his eyes for a moment. Propped on his elbow, he watched her. Seeing her frown made his heart ache; seeing her smile made him grin like an idiot.
